Pop Tarts- 50 Years Ago Today (1 Viewer)

I like Pop Tarts, but I can't stand any of the frosted ones.
:hifive:
Let's just agree that you're wrong.
Pop Tarts weren't originally frosted. It took about 3 years before they introduced the frosted ones. Didn't want stuff melting in toasters I guess.
America wan't originally free to slaves. Somethings get better with change.

And, yes. I just compared unfrosted pop tarts to slavery. I'm sure that's a winner for someone playing FFA Bingo.

<p>

And now, a moment of silence, for the reading of the fallen flavors....

Really? This is about as classic a pastry flavor as you can get.
Agreed. Used to be a regular on the grocery list for a while.

Also can't believe the Hello Kitty Meowberry's gone. We hardly knew ye.
Limited editions aren't covered in that list. Some of the LE were actually quite good. Vanilla I-Scream, Birthday cake... Never did find Red Velvet. I'm going to be pissed if they don't keep the new peanut butter ones around full time.
...Hello Kitty Meowberry wasn't a limited edition?

You know who put things in toasters? Hitler.

I'm a traditonalist
What are your slaves names?
Just because I post here doesn't mean I can afford slaves.

I like candy, but I can't stand any of the ones with sugar in them.
Aside from the taste (which isn't great), it's the texture that makes it a no go for me. It's hard as a rock, even when toasted.

With apologies to your slavery analogy, frosted Pop Tarts are like eating a cake that's been sitting on the counter for a month (makes sense as it's pastry that really has been sitting in a package for well more than a month).

Pop Tarts are a perfectly mediocre snack made with crap ingredients. Topping it with the the most disgusting rock hard frosting one could possibly make is just too much for me.

I've never tried the butter thing, but I could see that being nice.

FBG Gold Card is being reviewed. Will send status after the committee has ruled.

No disrespect intended. I understand your reasoning. Me, personally, when I eat crap food, I prefer it to be all-in on crappiness. Don't half ### it, in my opinion.

I'm grandfathered in as I was an actual FBG reporter/transcriber for a couple of seasons.

Frosted Strawberry and Frosted Blueberry used to be my go-to flavors (in rotation). That is, until S'mores came along. Those damn things are like crack. They even SMELL divine toasting in the toaster. G.P.T.O.A.T., IMO

Not according to wikipedia. I would've though it was Limited Edition too.

Meowberries are a timeless fruit.

Two rules to pop tarts:

1) must be s`mores

2) cannot be toasted

rule #2 cant be stressed enough
absurd
toasting pop tarts renders them inedible.

seriously
Odd. I've eaten them toasted numerous times.
you've probably touched yourself to Joan Laurer too
But I mow my own damn lawn.

Actually, I don't, since I have no lawn as I live where it is sunny, warm, and never rains.

Wife bought a box of unfrosted strawberry... I don't even toast 'em... right out of the package with a glass of ice-cold milk just last night for dessert...
Another pair of Pop Tarts gone last night... I know they're there... I can't not eat them... two silvery packages of goodness left...one for tonight and tomorrow night... I hope the 2nd one lasts til tomorrow night

:goodposting: :goodposting: We covered this at length a couple of years ago. It was clearly determined that frosted brown sugar cinnamon (warmed thoroughly with a dollop of butter) dominates all other pop tarts. It is acceptable to eat them without toasting - but only if you don't have access to warming them, including a microwave.

Toaster strudels are also ####### awesome but in a different enough category that one cannot be appropriately declared superior over the other.

I don't think I've ever had one toasted. I just eat them right out of the package.
