Portis at Dallas wk 11 (1 Viewer)

Totally agree. For some reason, I think CP has more doubters than any other stud in this league. People say he is 'injury prone' even though he has had only freak injuries. His first sign of ever breaking down was the tendoniitis before this year, but I think that was more a play to hold him out than anything.I will let owners keep hating, and I will continue to steal a top 5 talent in the 3rd round of redrafts.

This week. He may well be a RB1 for some teams. I'm expecting a dogged type of game from him with modest numbers, something like 18/68/0 2/16/0. He may get a TD, but historically that hasn't happened much against Dallas for him for whatever reason. I think Dallas scores 30+ and wins by double digits, which doesn't bode well for an opposing RB.
Well, my caution was well-founded, but amazingly enough Portis was even less utilized than I thought he'd be in a game that was even closer than I thought it would be. His final stat line was 12/36/0 2/9/0. There's no way I would have expected 54 pass attempts from Campbell unless you'd told me that the 'Skins were going to be down by 3 TD's in the 2nd quarter or something.

I said this game would be close, and it was. They always are between these two heated rivals.

But I don't understand why Portis did not get more of an opportunity, especially in the second half. With Owens going nuts on the other side it would have behooved the skins to slow it down. But instead they called 55 pass plays to Portis 12 carries. Maybe the result would have been the same if they had fed Portis more, but I think that maybe Owens gets one less TD if the Redskins had controlled the clock better.

Considering how close the score was during the game, Gibbs / Saunders game plan caught me completely off guard.

I'm not sure why they abandoned the running game. They didn't even try any screens, really, and that was open for them.

Portis looked gimpy a few times coming to the sidelines. Nagging injury? Not to mention they had an effective passing game going. Oh and Roy Williams sucks.

This is probably the answer, and more the latter than the former. The team is learning that Campbell excels in the spread offense, especially out of the hurry-up shotgun. He gets a nice rhythm going and the offense moves. It presents an interesting dilemma to a head coach in Gibbs who loves to establish and dominant running game to wear down a defense and seize a time of possession advantage. But I don\'t think you can argue with the results of the last couple of weeks, so I think they\'ll continue to do it.

Losses?I know what you are saying. The offense has looked better the last two games that it has all season. Personally, I put much of the blame on the defenses inability to overcome Taylor's absence. But, I know Gibbs is looking at the last two weeks and one thing stands out: they lost.

Ideally, I think they'd like to have the balance they showed against Philly. They don't want to completely abandon the run like they did yesterday. Portis is still their best weapon and he needs the ball more.
