Post a song lyric (not all the lyrics, just one line or two) that you absolutely love (1 Viewer)

"I rode the Highball
I fired the Daylight
When I turned sixty-five
I couldn't see right

It was 'Mr. Jones
We've got to let you go
It's company policy
You've got a pension though' "

In fifty years I will dream of this moment
from a bed, tired from lifting my legs,
tired from drifting around,
Through the dust, through the dust

Hollywood Park - The Airborne Toxic Event

Beautiful, bombastic song that my daughter introduced me to. The whole song tells the story about the writer's relationship with his flawed but loving father, with the old Hollywood Park racetrack that his dad used to take him to as a kid as the backdrop. When they released the song he talked about how that track was inextricably linked to cherished memories of his father, and thus the emotions he felt when it was torn down and buried.

Jim Croce could have his own thread-

5 short minutes of love
cost me 20 long years in jail-

She might be nasty
she might be fat
but I never meant a person
who would tell her that

She's livin in LA- with my best old ex-firend Ray

You ain't gone far enough to say
At least I've tried
You ain't worked hard enough to say
"Well, I've done mine"
You ain't run far enough to say
"My legs have failed"
You ain't gone far enough
You ain't worked hard enough
You ain't run far enough to say
It ain't gonna get any better

More miles than money.
Look at our lives and it's oh so funny.
More miles than money.
We fall in love but it's never funny.
We're the last, the very last ones to know.

Jim Croce could have his own thread-
Yeah, Jim Croce was such a great lyricist. I wish i could write like he did.

Hey tomorrow, I can't show you nothin'
You've seen it all pass by your door
So many times I said I been changin'
Then slipped into patterns of what happened befor

Anti-Hero, T Swift.

I don't really listen to her stuff (not being a woman under 30) but that's a great line.

The percentage you're paying is too high priced while you're living beyond all your means.
And the man in the suit has just bought a new car from the profit he's made on your dreams.
But today you just read that the man was shot dead by a gun that didn't make any noise.
But it wasn't the bullet that laid him to rest, was the low spark of high-heeled boys.
