Post Pictures Of Your Dog Here. Or Any Other Pet You Have (1 Viewer)

Kellie arriving at her new home.

Hard luck case I adopted 9 years ago. Lived with me in 4 different cities.

We're now living on the beach and I know she's going to love it

Every time I see a photo or video of Bo it makes me want my next dog to be a bloodhound.

Thanks man.  I have to tell you he is the best and smartest dog I have ever owned  and I have had dogs my whole life.  Once you get a Bloodhound you will never own another breed.  They are a handful until about 14 months and they are always like a bull in the china shop, but you will never have a more loyal and affectionate dog.  All hounds are great though owned a Redbone when I was much younger named Bufort she was a close 2nd to Bo.  Listen I am going to get Bo laid in the near future to a Black and Tan Bloodhound because I want him to experience life to the fullest.  Anyway I will get pick of the litter and wife says house is not big enough for 2 bloodhounds a cat and 3 shi tzus.  She is probably right about that.  Anyway if it takes I will be looking for a responsible owner not going to charge anything let me know if you are interested.

Our Meghan is not quite what was advertised. She does not like other dogs at all even though her bio said she was easy to walk and loves other dogs on the walk and they don't bother her at all. Also said she could be an only dog or share a home with another dog. She goes crazy seeing them when walked. Very frustrating. My wife has been getting up at stupid o'clock to walk her to try avoid other dogs. Going to need to do some training. Most likely will need a professional I bet.

A lot of times places like Pet Smart will have obedience classes that will help.  When Bo was a 6 months I had a trainer come and work with him.  It worked wonders and really wasn't all that expensive.  Be patient she is an adult dog and probably has gone through quite a bit.  Sometimes dogs that have been kept at shelters can have that type reaction to other dogs.  I highly recommend you invest in a trainer to come to your home.  It will be easier on Meghan.  Do you have a fenced in yard?

My parents liked to hike and backpack.  They were members of the Sierra Club in the 70’s and when I was 2 or 3 they would take me camping.  We had an old Ford with a camper and a Bloodhound named Jamie.  As my dad tells it one night we were camping and it was in the 40’s or so.  My mom and dad and I were in the back of the pickup under the camper, and Jamie was outside under the truck with an old wool blanket.  My dad sad she started howling at around midnight due to getting a bit cold.  She howled for about 10 minutes so he decided to let her in the truck.  As soon as she got in she laid down and let out the loudest and nastiest fart he says he has ever experienced.  We had to get out of the truck for about 30 minutes before the air was clear.

Phew, glad I re-read that thread title a second time, because I was probably gonna catch myself a looooooong timeout and an unaccessible PM box full of entreaties from lady suitors.

Even though we only had our bloodhound until I was around 5 or 6 I still remember her.  Was a good dog from what I recall.

I love the breed and from here out I will own a bloodhound.  I am 61 so I will probably only own 3 more dogs( it's a bummer when you get to the age you can count the number of dogs you have left)but they will be bloodhounds.  It will get tougher to walk them the older I get because they are extremely strong dogs and when they get a scent it is all you can do to keep them in check.  Plus avg weight is 110+ lbs but I will figure it out.  The only drawback to a bloodhound is there life expectancy is shorter than most other breeds.

Trying to capture good video of my labrador's obsession - chasing the red light from a laser pointer.  Works well to burn off energy during the day.  And about an hour or so after sunset, I can stand on the deck and guide the red light back and forth across the backyard while Rory runs windsprints after it.  It's like taking her for a walk without having to let go of a beverage.

Rory will turn 1 in a couple weeks.  Here's her latest head shot.
OMG

 classic bobblehead pic

Today is the last day of the public pool season at my local public pool.
So tomorrow evening is "Too Cool To Drool": the two hours per year where dogs are allowed to swim in the public pool.  Small breeds from 6:00-6:45, large breeds take over at 7:00.

This post is my reminder to fully charge my phone before the event and take a jillion photos and videos as Rory and dozens of other dogs in town have their annual public pool party.
This is one of the coolest (no pun intended) ideas I've heard.

Is this your event it was on our local news.  Took place in W.Virginia.

Similar event.  Different city and state.  We've got some rain right now but we've been told the event is a go if there's no thunder/lightning.

Driving the dog home after she goes swimming and plays in the rain?  My car is going to smell so delightful tomorrow.
There's not an odor eater in the world big enough for that.

Swimmer Level: NOVICE

“She’s not a strong swimmer”

Water-logged

Not all the dogs were happy to see the water

Not all heroes wear capes

My kind of pool party

This was so fun

Somewhere in the photos/videos you might have asked, “is that Golden swimming with a GoPro mounted on his back?”

The answer to your question is “YES!”  That Golden and his owner were awesome.  Owner said it’s their third year of GoPro footage of the dog oook party and it’s one of his favorite things he’s done with his GoPro.
That’s awesome. My husky mix will only go on the first step in our pool, a regular occurrence when he gets hot from running around in the backyard.  He’s my trail running buddy as well, and loves to jump in the horse trough we pass on our regular route.

So after using milk jugs and old industrial type bucket lids for frisbees as toys.  I thought maybe I would by him a new toy that he couldn't destroy a tire with a rope through it.  Nope had it chewed through in two pieces in about 5 minutes and in tiny pieces in the back yard in about 20.  Back to bucket lids and milk jugs for him.

I have a long haired dachshund that can chew through steel.  I bought the little tire...  one day.  A K9 Kong toy.... one day.  I bought 2 things from west paw and they have been going strong for a few years now.  I found it at a Whole Foods also.  https://www.westpaw.com/

My 9 pound Long Haired Weiner.
We had one that we got from the pound.  She was born with only 3 legs.  It was her last day before she was to be put down.  I guess no one wanted her because of the 3 leg thing.  We were torn between two names when we got her ilean or Lucky we went with Lucky.  She lived to be 18 years old she was an awesome dog really loved that dog.

My last Long hair, Sam, lived till 16.  I had to put him to sleep as he went into kidney failure.  Best dog I have ever owned.  This dachshund is a good gurl but doesn’t compare to my last one.  This one is so anxious she has mini seizures if we bring her to get groomed.  Vet finally prescribed something for when we take her out the house.
