Post week 1 waiver wire pick ups (1 Viewer)

Decided to keep my priority.
Hoping to get some players without it. 🤞🏼
I ended up going Logan Thomas as a free agent after waivers run.

Would have got bill with my 3 but didn’t think it was worth it after listening to some talking heads
I did the exact same thing. Thomas is now my TE2. May his tender noggin hold up until our BYE weeks.
He’s my TE1.

So let’s hope he goes from 50% snap count to 100% and see what happens.

Not sure why my leaguemates let me grab Jeff Wilson for $11. Maybe asleep at the wheel week one? I don't even need this guy, but was dropping Patty French Fries and just threw that bid out there along with some $0 fliers.

I grabbed Wilson preemptively before Week 1, figuring Mitchell would get hurt.

Should be a glorious few weeks.

:headbang:

Shanahan loves him and I don't think either of the two rookies will leapfrog him. But literally his production has come in spurts four years running:
  • 2018 WK12 8 touches 41 yards / WK13 23-134-0 / WK13 24-86-0
  • 2019 WK2 2 TDS / WK3 2 TDS
  • 2020 WK3 2 TDs / 2 duds + inactive / WK7 19-120-2 / IR 3 weeks / last 6 weeks 88-437-5 rush 7-58-2 rec (high game 183 yards rush)
  • 2021 missed first 8 and not much his first 4 G (1 start), then 3 GS WKs 14-16 48-201-2 + 5-21

Better plan on plugging him in SEPTEMBER lol.

Maybe because the rookie Mason has looked good, TDP looks powerful AND maybe the biggest reason is because the 49ers just added Marlon Mack to their practice squad? I could see Mack running with it until Mitchell gets back.

Everyone, is anyone worth using the #1 priority on this week? I am struggling with this.
Probably, yes. What are your options?

Julio & Jeff Wilson come to mind.
I've thought about going all in on Jeff Wilson but I could see this being a dumpster fire of a 3-way timeshare (4 including Trey Lance).
Does that dumpster fire include Deebo? What about the rookies?

It's not looking good in SF. I may be all out before Sunday (dumped Mitchell, still have Mason).
Absolutely:

Jeff Wilson Jr, TDP or Mason, Deebo and a little Trey Lance... I could see every one of them getting 8 carries. Shannyn gonna Shanny and I could see a different guy each week going off. Crystal Ball is in the shop, but everyone else can have at it.

It's a Shannahan backfield, so you never really know. Just seems cheap for the presumptive next man up in this offense.

Most likely 49ers to carry the ball seems like it would be Wilson, Deebo, and Lance. We'll see on the rookies. Mack was cut and 31 teams said no thanks for week 1 (which tbf is mostly about not wanting to guarantee the salary of a vested veteran by putting him on the 53 man to start the season.) But it does seem unlikely he comes off the street to take over anything other than the scout team RB.

Your subtext is noted and well founded. It's often difficult to know what Kyle will do with his RBs. But in Wilson we're looking at a guy he has turned to repeatedly after injury for five years running. Wilson will get first crack. After that, who knows.

$100 FAB budget

Needed help at WR badly with Godwin and Hopkins out and Higgins iffy

Curtis Samuel $13 had him my first priority to fill at least one gap. I'm high on him.
J Robinson $7 surprised to see him available. Dropped Pierce for him.
J Landry $4 it was either R Anderson or Landry to fill another potential WR 3 void if Higgins sits.

Seems early to give up on Pierce.
Could be - but I have J Robinson much higher for the ROS over Pierce. Pierce will share with Burkhead and Robinson will share with ETN. I'm good making the move. I also have Brandon Cooks on my team. Too many HOU Texans on this team.

Gave up on Nico Collins for Curtis Samuel. Looks like Samuel will have plays scripted to get him the ball.
Yea he looked really good.... like a "Deebo Samuel" lite
You're not kidding. Really interesting usage with all the rushes and designed plays for him. All of his plays in week 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D06ykhirRI4
Thanks for posting that. Seeing his usage for a ppr league made me bump my bid by 25% at the buzzer and I beat out the next guy by $2. ($65 of a $200 budget)

He looks like a pass catching RB, a poor man's CP and a homeless man's Deebo. He had around 1000 total yards, 75 receptions/40 rushes, and 5 TDs his last year at Carolina with Coach Rivera. Rivera paid him good money to bring him along to Washington. Still an injury risk, and lots of competition, but it looks like he is going to get touches early and often. If he can hold my flex spot over for a month until my rookie WRs get up and running it will be worth it.
Just for reference here are his 2020 stats down the stretch (last 9 games) (since he was out all of last year)

I definitely think based on the big contract that Washington gave him, having the same coach, a better QB, what appears to be more of a passing offense thus far, how explosive he looked, made a ton of guys miss and just look plain silly, and the designed plays to get him the ball in space... I think he is absolutely a flex consideration every week going forward

All true, but as is always the case, there’s only one football. When you have the incumbent #1 in McLaurin, a highly drafted rookie in Dotson, and two very capable pass catching RBs, there’s a lot of mouths to feed. Samuel will have his big games, but there could certainly be a lot of volatility in his weekly touches.

Carter, Wilson-SF or Herbert on the WW this week?
Gotta move Mitchell to IR and have to pick someone up to roster.

I understand mason is quite a prize SF found, this rookie has many talking.
But the Niners have been clear that Wilson will be starting and likely taking 1st team reps all week.
I did see Shanahan say "Hot Hand"

I like what I saw from Herbert, how far off is he from being featured more often?
Carter was pretty good last week, worry about Hall being used a lot more in Week 2...but with Flacco under center for a few more weeks, maybe a rookie is not ideal

For tight end needy teams. What are we thinking about Taysom.

All off-season I was reading about how the new coaching staff wouldn’t use him the same way Payton did.

But, as a zero tight end drafter, (that got zero points from both Kmet and Likely today) I’m definitely intrigued.
Thinking a bit more about Taysom only because he’s listed as a TE. While he may only get a handful of touches each week, how many TEs get more than that outside of the big guys?

If you like Robinson better and you had no one worse to drop, then you do what you have to. I wasn’t on the Pierce hype train at all (and don’t have him on any teams) but he was drafted pretty high in most leagues and he still has a path to heavy volume - surprised you couldn’t at least trade him.

A lot of weeks those touches will be 2 carries for 15 yards and a catch for 8 yards.

It seems everyone is expecting him to do what he did Week 1 as the norm, but how many times has he really been fantasy relevant in games he wasn’t the starting QB - 2 or 3 games a season?

True he’s probably only a cheat code if he remains listed as a TE but gets QB snaps. Probably not likely to happen.

It sounds crazy, but going 100% waivers with no FA period was the best thing our league ever did.

We did that for a few years but folks didn’t like having to waste spots on GTD roster cloggers. Voted to switch to FAAB with FA after waivers (anyone dropped goes to the second waiver run Friday night/Saturday morning.)

I just think it’s hilarious they’re setting 3:30am alarms to pouch random flyers. Sure, we all did that when we were young degenerates, these dudes have families & are old af.

I still do this at 47. :sneaky:

Jaylen Warren (1%)
Curtis Samuel (5%)

I think Warren will definitely see more PT after his Week 1 performance (along with how terrible Najee looked). Warren's blocking was just tremendous and offers nice COP from Najee.

I'm not crazy about Samuel (lots of mouths to feed) but few WR get 15 opportunities. His role is such he should see regular opportunities. Hard to not take a shot. If Washington's offensive weapons all stay healthy, wouldn't be surprising if Wentz finishes top 12 like Winston did with Tampa.

Ive gone back and forth on Samuel and Julio. I grabbed Julio after waivers ran...Samuel still just sitting there.

Hella good matchup - CB Amani Oruwariye left practice today with the trainers, not sure what's going on. (ASIDE - If for some reason Will Harris steps onto the field, I guarantee you Carson will burn him IMMEDIATELY.) Samuel will be in the Slot often meaning he'll draw Mike Hughes (67.4) when they are not in zone. The Lions always miss a lot of tackles, that continued again in WK1, though overall the CBs played OK, each of the three (Okudah is the other outside CB( graded out in the mid-60s.

I think Carson will lean on Thomas and Samuel a lot.

Goedert put up decent numbers last week vs Detroit and they ran a lot. I am hoping for a good month out of L Thomas before the inevitable injury, then Likely hopely establishes a role in Balt. Kmet is basically a streamer at this point, and there could be more weather issues in GB. My scoring is cumulative, so i need a little more upside right now.
