I need a shower after reading most of that.I wonder how we’re going to feel about some of these players this time next year.
Well, it might be something better placed for another thread, but I'll humour the post and go with what I think of the picks I made last year:
#13 - Brian Thomas - Superb. Passed all expectations. Already dealt him at what I thought was a sell high point to lock up Nabers in a trade
#18 - Blake Corum - Maybe hoped for a bit more in year one, but didn't quite work out that quickly for reasons that aren't necessarily Blake's, value definitely down but pick could be worse for sure
#23 - Jaylen Wright - Expected zero year one with a good 1-2 punch ahead of him but maybe could have shown more with the chances he did get. Critical year two you feel
#36 - Braelon Allen - Feeling good about this one. Shown some pieces when Hall hasn't been 100%, definitely room to improve and reasons to be optimistic here
#40 - Isaac Guerendo - Seemed very reliant on injuries hitting to have any relevance year one and certainly a longer term project, but things haven't worked out badly for sure
#45 - Jared Wiley - Basically a dart throw that either Kelce got bored/injured, or the other guy who was the TE2 did the same, and you get some signs that you can get something that might work in a good offense. Didn't pan out but the process seems fine
#50 - Rasheen Ali - Mr Irrelevant dart throw that was completely irrelevant with Henry doing Henry things and Ali having his own injury issues
#UDFA - Devaughn Vele - Pulled onto the taxi squad, showed some promise but not enough where I can actually use him in any sort of trade sadly
#UDFA - Jase McClellan - Another taxi squad ultra speculative dart throw which went as expected
That's an excellent draft for what the class was. Even if every other pick busts, #13 is a homerun that makes the class.
Beyond that, bad early indicators on Corum and Wright, but there's still hope. Good value at those spots for the time. Allen / Guerendo at 3/4 is a fine duo for that range, basically offering the late 2nd value that Corum and Wright might not hit. Sucks missing out on Bucky at any of those spots, but 11-out-of-12 owners fall into that category. The rest, who cares. Those picks were made to be missed. I still consider Ali, Wiley, and Vele watch list guys that might have trace value in super deep formats.
