Nirvana and the "grunge scene" may very well be the last time a sound is developed regionally. With the internet, there isn't a real local sound anymore (that I know of).

Also, Dave Grohl is on the very short list of someone who was part of a well known band and went on to create his own band and increased his popularity.

Totally agree, and I hate 99% of covers...kind of like "I Will Always Love You" was a better fit for Whitney than Dolly. :shrug:
