Based on the timing of the game, the Steelers were knocked out when the Ravens won but the Ravens did NOT directly knock the Steelers out. The Steelers would have been eliminated even if the Ravens had lost.Take it easy on the guy. I hate being right.Rooting for the Pats but figure there is no way the Ravens don't win by at least 10 points.
Wow, I'm surprised to see a Pats fan assuming a loss, at home. Was this a popular opinion of the fanbase or just a gut feeling? Just wondering because as an Eagle fan I felt the same way coming into the weekend. It was sad, really. But the loss didn't hurt as much because the outcome didn't suprise me. But I'm kind of suprised the Pats got handled the way they did.Spike said:I hate being right.Rooting for the Pats but figure there is no way the Ravens don't win by at least 10 points.
your words, not mine...but if it makes you feel better that the Ravens did NOT directly KO Pittsburgh, so be itand I love the fact that after the a-s-s whiping put upon the Pats by the Ravens yesterday that the best a NE fan can come up with is to rip how I spell my name on a freakin' FF message board...seriously, apply for and get a lifefred_1_15301 said:Ghost Rider said:No, they didn't.ravnzfan said:last week Ravens knock out Pittsburgh,Based on the timing of the game, the Steelers were knocked out when the Ravens won but the Ravens did NOT directly knock the Steelers out. The Pats did stack the box, and the Ravens still beat them. Part of the reason that Rice's first run turned into an 83-yarder was there were 8 men in the box. When Rice broke through, the single safety was still so deep that it was easy for Rice to put a move on him, compounded by the bad angle he took in pursuit. Also, the Pats dedicated themselves to taking Rice out of the passing game. He was double covered on ever Flacco dropback, with an LB shadowing him before he crossed the line of scrimmage and a DB dropping down to cover him man-to-man. I don't think I've ever seen anything like that before. And it worked --- after averaging 5 receptions per game all season, Rice was shut out as a receiver.I think the Pats were committed in their gameplan to doing everything they could to stop Rice. They just couldn't execute the gameplan, because the Ravens O line completely dominated them.I loved the Ravens in this game too...but one question keeps buggin me.Belicheck had to know Ray Rice was the primary threat...why not stack the line and dare Joe Flacco to beat you? I mean, Flacco is ok, but nobody loses sleep over having to face him. Now Ray Rice is a different topic...I think everyone is afraid of him. Load up on the run, do your best trying to cover Mason and Heap...which I think would have been easier.Anyway, good game Ravens...going in to Gillette and winning isn't easy so Kudos.
