***Pre-Game Thread*** Green Bay at Chicago (1 Viewer)

Obvious 49er fan from the NFC Worst division and I've been on the Packers bandwagon since TC. Mainly because of Aaron Rodgers, who gets my vote for MVP and best QB in football. Yeah, I'm sure some will disagree but I'm certain the best is yet to come from MR. Rodgers neighborhood. We could have had him instead of Alice Smith with the first pick. What a disaster pick. Still, I'm confident the Packers will win this game and will beat whoever they face in the superbowl. Just feel it's their year especially the way they've played lately.

Given the level of play that both defenses should demonstrate the game will not get out of hand with a high score. The defenses will keep the offenses limited with scoring and Aaron Rodgers will make the crucial TD's needed to win the game, one passing td and one rushing td. I also see a good opportunity for Green's Bay's defense/special teams to get a score.

Green Bay Packers- 21

Chicago Bears- 17

Bet on the Bears

The NFL has chosen referee Terry McAulay to officiate the NFC Championship game Sunday at Soldier Field. One reason that is pertinent is that it was McAulay's crew that threw flags for 19 infractions (18 of which were accepted for 152 yards) in the Packers' 20-17 loss to the Bears in Week 3.
At least it's not his whole crew. I'm trying to remember back...I don't recall more than 1 or 2 questionable calls against the Pack. I think most if not all were deserved. The Pack was very sloppy that night.

The team would disagree. Heard Larry McCarren on the radio this morning. Basically, he said that while the team wouldn't ever say it publicly, they really felt they got screwed in the first meeting. His words, not mine. That said, I don't think it impacts the game much this week.

 Well, at least now the Pack has a scape goat.
are you saying that the packers did not deserve to be flagged?the only way they could stop the bears was to hold and they got called for it.

They probably could have called holding on every down in that game, most on Peppers.

Just watched some old school clips.

Martin slamming McMahon.

Stills taking out Suhey.

A photo tribute to Chester Marcol...loving the single bar mask, the fro, and wearing glasses as he gets the kick blocked to him and running it around the end.

And of course the instant replay play.

Not really. You have one Bear fan thinking the Packers can use the officials as an excuse if the Packers lose and the next Bear fan doesn't get that and thinks what that Bear fan meant is the Packers didn't deserve to be flagged. :) Oh, and don't forget Bear fan, DrJ, that actually thinks the Bears weren't trying to score on the final drive of week 17.

just some perspective on the magnitude of this game.

the Bears and packers are playing to win the Halas trophy, to have a shot at wining the Lombardi trophy

i really hope we dont pull another week 3 and dominate but kill ourselves with penalties and fumbles. that would be miserable

Bears were ranked 4th in the league on special teams during the regular season. The Packers were 29th.

Bears/Packers will mark the longest gap (based on days) between postseason meetings in NFL history (69 years, 40 days).

With the Bears/Packers rivalry, it really doesn't matter who the better team is, whatever that even means. Both teams are good or they wouldn't be here. I can't freaking wait. This is going to be one hell of a game and the biggest game of my life as a Bears fan, as far as I'm concerned. We may not see a game this big again for decades. I get :lmao: thinking about Sunday, in a good way. :lmao:

Pretty awesome really isn't it? Steeped in history. This is an Ali-Frazier type event.
Yep. Crazy. :lmao:

You sure told them.

It has been said that the British Army wore red coats so that, if they were shot, their opponent would not be able to tell that they were bleeding...

I guess that explains why the Green Bay Packers wear yellow pants.

A teacher tells her class she's a Packers fan. The class agrees with her except one little girl. When asked who she likes the girl said the Bears, the teacher asked why and the girl said "because my mommy and daddy are fans". The teacher replies "that's no reason to like them, what if your dad was an idiot and your mom was a moron then what would you be?" The little girl replied back, "a Packers fan."

Are you saying the Packers have Jaundice?!?

Nope, it's just that standards are so low up there that even writers and editors aren't expected to be literate. The article was probably originally written in crayon.http://backporch.fanhouse.com/2011/01/19/g...ded-to-chicaco/
Clever of the Press Gazette to use the stereotype of Wisconians being semi-literate to take a punny jab at their rivals.

It was intentional... they're calling Chicago **** buttkisses.

Cool. We'll keep that in mind as the Bears fly to Dallis.

I've had this horrible feeling all week that this one will be a heartbreaking Packers' loss. The ball has been bouncing the Bears' way all season long. They've had good health, caught a few beaks, and let's face it...they exceed at creating their own luck. This team always seems to find a way of stripping the ball or coming up with the big return when it matters most. I've watched all year, expecting their good fortune to run out. It hasn't. And with the expectation that this is going to be another close game, I get sick at the thought of Mason Crosby's foot having to be the deciding factor on that field.

I pray that I'm wrong.

 In that case when they play the Bears they should wear their throwback uniforms they wore earlier this year which I think had brown pants.

I don't see how either fanbase can feel really confident about this one. Should be a bloodbath.

As a Chicago fan, this has the potential to be one of my best sports memories or one of my worst.

As a Bears fan, I fully expect the opposite and also pray that I'm wrong. One of the two of us is going to be very happy...the other not so much. In all honesty, I personally wish that it were any other team than the Packers against the Bears in this game.

I have the same feeling and have all week. I expect a house of horrors and heartbreak for GB, things like a Starks fumble, receivers slipping on routes leading to INTs, Hester, that type of thing, and if Cutler stays mistake free.. also if it comes down to Crosby vs. Gould, you have to take Gould. Not feeling good here, while optimism from everyone else. I am a little surprised not to see more people going against the grain and picking Chi since this is as even of match up as there is.

As a Bears fan, I'm having visions of Rodgers deep to Jennings and Woodson burying Cutler. This game scares me.
 Thats been going on in my head all week. Actually, for some reason Driver scares me more than Jennings. He always seems to make big catces against the Bears.
