Predicted Snow and Wind in PIT this week (1 Viewer)

Manning and Wayne torched this same defense a few weeks ago.I'm also agonizing over benching TO or not. But I'm leaning towards rolling with him (Lance Moore would be my other option).
Manning and Wayne were assisted greatly in that regard by a gift bounce for a long TD. And the Colts still managed 240ish yards in the air.Outside of that Colts game, the Steelers defense has done pretty well vs. opposing QBs. Anyone expecting Romo to win their games for them himself this week , regardless of who wins the actual game in Pittsburgh or what the weather is like, is probably setting themselves up for a good cry come Monday morning.

The latest weather report from Pittsburgh calls for flurries & temperature at gametime around 25. Winds will be 21mph gusting to 30mph, windchill of about 5.
That's absolutely brutal and terrible news for both team's passing games. Is there anybody starting Roethlisberger this week?
I was, but if the weather and wind gusts are that substantial, I may go with Shaun Hill versus a porous New York Jet secondary. Weather won't be an issue in SF. Hill should be good for 240 yards and 2 TDs; Ben probably gets 175 yards and 1 TD.

If the wind is truly that stong Heinz is going to be brutal for passers and kickers. I remember Bubby never liking the winds "off the lake" at Three Rivers.I have Jeff Reed and I am going to see what is available on the waiver wire.

Without giving away the exact projections, FBG is projecting Roethlisberger and Romo to combine for more than 450 yards passing tomorrow. If the winds are going to be around 30 mph I'm not sure about that.

Romo's stats in the wind and cold

Wind - 2 gms, 69.6 QB rating, 53/82 64.6 pct, 629 yds, 314 ypg, 3 tds, 6 ints

Cold - It says only 1 gm. Is that true? 7/16 86 yds 0 tds, 1 int, qb rating 34.9

I have been thinking about the same thing. I have Frerotte vs. Det & I want to lean towards him, but with this being the first round of the playoffs, I'm not sure that I can pull the trigger.
I'm going Frerotte over Romo but it's a 4 week playoff with cumlative totals for the 6 teams that made it so it's not really as much of a risk as a H2H. I'm also going Big Ben over Eli so go figure.

I'm benching Romo for Shaun Hill. The Jets have given up a lot of passing yards of late, the 49ers could well be playing from behind in the second half and Hill has been fairly solid. Plus, the weather conditions look to be pretty nice in San Fran.

I am a favorite in the game so I am just looking to avoid the extreme clunker and I think the circumstances make it more likely for Romo to post a total stinker than Hill.

Latest weather.com forecast has Pittsburgh at 31 degrees, lights snow, wind chill of 25 degrees tomorrow from 3-6 pm in Pittsburgh. That's not TOO bad. Winds not so strong. I'm feeling better about that forecast for both passing games.

Thanks for the weather update, but the thought of a matador like Max Starks facing DeMarcus Ware doesn't make me feel more confident about starting Big Ben.

are these conditions good or bad for witten? Seems like they may go with with short pass and the sure hands of the TE?

Yeah, I have witten. I also have NYG TE, so I'm trying to talk myself into one or the other.

:D Current local forecast:Snow showers likely. Snow accumulation around an inch. Near steady temperature in the lower 20s. West winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. Chance of snow 70 percent.Edited to include an estimated windchill of about 5.

I have Romo and there is no way that I bench him.......

Without Barber or Jones, Dallas will be throwing early and often.

in 1 league, my romo back-ups are big ben and pennington.

in the other league, it's just big ben.

something inside me (no idea what) tells me to play big ben if it snows

i agree 100%. however, he'll be a TO (as in turnover) target w/ the combo of no barber, the weather and pitt's d.

does anybody know what the field condition is like?
The field was resodded after the WPIAL HS playoff games 2 weeks ago. Pitt played on it last Saturday and it looked pretty good. This morning I saw the field was covered so there shouldn't be a whole lot of snow on it and it is heated to 62. I think the footing will be okay, at least early in the game.

thanks. i dont understand the field heating thing. maybe in dry, cold weather. but seems like it just makes more of a mess with weather, no?and doesnt it kinda take away from the "this is football weather" thing. i mean the frozen tundra of Lambeau is no longer frozen.i dont know, whatever. the bottomline is, no matter the conditions, teams have to adjust.
