Preemptive Trades to Make (1 Viewer)

Some guys that I think are value trades include:

[*]Rothlisberger

[*]LT

[*]Hines Ward

[*]Owen Daniels

Rothlisberger is almost coming off his suspension. He's had the best training camp of his career and looked good in the preseason. The Steelers are still passing the ball a lot so it's safe to say that Rothlisberger probably has one of the highest upsides.

LT is looking good. He had more snaps than Greene so it might be too late to trade for him, but he's not going to be nothing more than an RB2 (a high one). He's been running hard and showing great run-after-the catch ability.

Hines Ward still looks like a safe play. He's not the speed receiver as Wallace, but looks like he's always there to make a play for Batch, Dixon, whomever!

Owen Daniels looks like he's getting healthier. Now might be the time to buy him low because he has Top 5 TE upside.

Anyone else have a list? Thoughts?

Roethlisberger* first off..

Second, traded Gerhart for L.T. in a dynasty after week 1 where I'm thin at RB, but solid everywhere else.

I don't think you're going to get Ben at any kind of bargain. If the current owner has made the decision to draft/trade for/hold him through his suspension so far, why would he let him go for cheap just before he's about to be useful again? At this point I'm pretty sure you're going to pay full price since that owner made the decision some time ago to commit to him despite the suspension.

I think Dez Bryant fits the bill here. Roy's big game doesn't sway me one bit from thinking that by year's end Bryant will be the Cowboys #2 pass catcher, not just #2 WR,#2 pass catcher.

I think people need to jump on Aaron Hernandez before he truly blows up ala Keller. Verty quietly he's leading the Patriots in receving yardage and while that may not be last, I don't think he'll fall far. There's top-5 upside here.

I'll continue to believe Percy Harvin will be a top-15 WR, with top-10 upside this year. I expect him to see 7-9 targets per game and some owners may be looking to sell high after a productive week.

Speaking of sell high guys who really aren't sell high guys, in sort of the same light that Big Ben was mentioned earlier, I like Mike Wallace a lot. I think he's fully capable of being a top-10 WR this year once Roethlisberger comes back.

I was trying to buy low on Wallace, but that plan blew up this week. I'm hoping he disappears next week vs. Baltimore so I can try again when he's on a bye.

Good post re: Big Ben. No one holding him this look will sell him at a discount this close to him coming back.

I like Hernandez, but until I see him even in the game when the Pats are around the goal line I won't believe he'll threaten the top 5 TEs. In a PPR league he's still pretty good, but TDs separate the good from the great. He needs to score from far out as it stands now.

A name to consider after this week is Mendenhall. The Ravens are going to put 8 men in the box and force Batch to duplicate last week. Two of his TDs should have been picked by a league average safety last week. Mendenhall could have a brutal game and his owners may fret about his week 5 bye. Dunno, worth a shot, as when Ben returns week 6 I see Mendenhall as a top 6ish option in all formats (I'm going to speculate, baring injury, I would only take AP, CJ, Foster and Gore over him after week 5).

I was thinking of offering up Bowe for Dez, haven't watched him much ths year but lots of people seem impressed.

I'm just gonna toss out a couple guys that I am truly just asking about (not sure but they seem to fit the bill)

Would either DWIL or MSW be good candidates to go after now? I would have to think their owners are scratching their heads and looking at their guys on some pretty bad offensive teams. Or, is this just simply what it is and neither are wrth it this year?

How about Heath Miller instead of Hines Ward??
As a Heath Miller owner, I think now is definitely the time to buy low. He has been extremely frustrating, especially if you're like me and only roster 1 TE. I will probably hang on to him, but if someone were to make an offer for a WR3 or upside WR4, I would probably consider it.

DWill fits the "mold" of a buy low, but I just don't see the Carolina offense getting it together this year with their QB situation as bad as it is.

Good calls on MJD and Rice, but I also am not convinced that Fitz turns it around and cracks the top 10 this year.

Add in Schaub, I know those owners are frustrated and bet they'd swap him straight up for Rivers right now.

What owner would trade away Rivers for Shuab?River's looks like a lock for the top5 this year.

Id trade Schaub for Rivers in a heart beat, I doubt the Rivers owners would do it

I can't see owners trading away these players without getting top value back in return.
I can, and I have. Especially MJD, whose owners are panicking. You aren't going to get them for Brandon Lloyd or anything absurd like that, but I've seen all three going for much less than a top-6 player at their respective positions should be commanding.Edit: Add Michael Crabtree to that list, too.

What have you see MJD go for? I am curious? I would have to say only another top10RB?

Ray Rice has been offered to me for Austin Collie plus something else - the something else hasn't been determined. Jonathan Stewart at most I'd say. the Rice owner has a major hard-on for Indy offense players.

Not sure if that really gives good insight as to what Rice is worth right now. I'd say not really.

MJD and Sims Walker - things will get better in Jax.

Shonn Green - he can be had really cheap.

J.Charles - KC will eventually figure out he is the better back.

D.Thomas - can be had really cheap as well especially in BB leagues where those goofballs blew the lions share of their BB dollars thinking he was going to be their WR1.

J.Best - a lot of doubters out there; if you want him, get him now. He will be more expensive next week and even more the week after.

Agree. Even though they are disappointing relative to where they were drafted, they are still powerful "names"; especially in keeper or dynasty format. You can argue the Rice's schedule will help him. You can argue that Fitz is actually the 3rd highest targeted WR right now. So, with those two at least, you can say law of averages says they will come around. MJD; I dunno. This is a BAD Jaguars team that reminds me of carolina right now. I just don't know how they will generate enough offense to make them relative on a consistent basis.

I'm curious as well

Saw Jones-Drew traded for Hakeem Nicks in one league. Saw Rice involved in a trade that had a lot of bits and pieces to it, but which basically amounted to Rice for Matt Forte and change. A buddy of mine is in a league where Fitzgerald was traded for Mike Wallace yesterday. Another buddy of mine is in a league where Michael Crabtree got traded for Brandon Lloyd. The In-season Dynasty Trade Thread has some examples of people overreacting to early-season stuff, which is especially egregious given the long-term nature of dynasty leagues. One guy traded Crabtree and a pair of top-3 rookie picks to land Ryan Mathews after Crabtree's half-hearted week 1 effort. Someone else sold MJD, Sidney Rice, and Hines Ward for Orton, Forte, and Mike Williams TB.

I'm not saying that all MJD/Rice/Fitz/Crab owners are panicking and selling them for peanuts right now, but some definitely are. There are always people out there who place far too much emphasis on points scored through three weeks. It never hurts to see if any of those people are currently in one of your leagues.

Edit: From the "Anyone trade for MJD" thread- MJD for Orton/Tomlinson/Harvin, MJD for Bradshaw/Harvin, MJD+Jennings for McFadden/Nicks/Orton, and my personal favorite, a McFadden owner declining a straight up MJD-for-McFadden swap,
