Presidential Debate Thread - Obama vs. Romney (1 Viewer)

This would be better if they were standing. The dynamic is wrong for the topic.
I like this better than the awkward walking around in the last one. The whole time you could imagine them both trying to figure how what to do with their hands, how to sit, etc.

Can't watch debate: How is it looking for Romney? Only conservative need reply. I know what to expect from the progressives.
Not a conservative, but not a progressive either, and I am voting for Mitt. :)So far, it's not looking good. Obama is controlling the discussion. Mitt looked visibly upset at being attacked, the way he did against Newt Gingrich a few times. He looks petulant, which is not good for him. But it's early.
But how many voters were really waiting until tonight to base their vote on foreign policy? He just needs to not be a moron and threaten to blow up the middle east.
Oh, I don't think this is going to lose Mitt the election (or win it for him, either.) But the question was, who is winning this debate? So far, Obama.

I'll never understand why the candidate NOT the president agreeing to a debate like this. There's no way to win. I can't imagine he has CLOSE to the details about foreign countries like the president does, right?
If you're the President, why even bother with agreeing to any debates? The challenger gets a bump just from being on the same stage as you.

I'm a political junkie and even I'm watching the games. We pretty much have heard the whole sales pitch from both these guys, especially on the topics of Iran, Israel, and Libya.

"I'm not debating this noob, I've got a country to run"

This would probably work for a popular president, but let's face it, that's not Obama with a lot of America. Could you imagine the backlash if he simply told the GOP to piss off? He doesn't have THAT kind of support from the American people.

yeah i'm probably going to switch over to football

this is going to be the same crap for the rest of it.

Romney at a huge disadvantage and nobody cares about these topics anyway

When Mitt said we should not have supported Mubarek, he just distanced himself, once again, from Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and all the crazy Tea Partiers out there.

Romney looks Presidential, people can say Obama is winning the debate but I think in the mind of an undecided voter they are just looking at Romeny to see if he could handle foreign affairs. At this point, I think he passes that test. I also think that voters were turned off by the bickering last time and I'm not sure Obama's attacks at Romney play well to those still deciding how to vote.

Point being, its a negotiation between the two. So while the challenger might not want a foreign policy debate, the President holds plenty of cards in the negotiations.
