Presidential Debate Thread - Obama vs. Romney (1 Viewer)

What do the lines at the bottom of the CNN online broadcast mean? What does + and - mean? Right now it shows Obama on the + side but it sounds to me like he's struggling.
Not watching CNN but they probably have a group of undecideds watching it and hitting a positive or negative button based on what each participant says.

Great job slowing down Obamas rambling and hitting on each point and actually relating well for once.

Now a granny story from Pres.

Tim's point about Romney talking faster is huge. He can get about 50% more info out in 2 minutes than Obama.

It might be the biggest single factor in the entire debate.

and....

Exxon Mobil registered an average 17.6 percent federal effective corporate tax rate on its annual earnings in the three years spanning 2008 to 2010. Its average domestic profits exceeded $6.8 billion. And as a 2011 Citizens for Tax Justice report points out:

Over the past two years, ExxonMobil reported $9,910 million in pretax U.S. profits. But it enjoyed so many tax subsidies that its federal income tax bill was only $39 million—a tax rate of only 0.4 percent.

Even when Exxon Mobil had a record profit of $40 billion in 2008 due to record oil prices it had only a 31 percent effective tax rate. That’s 13 percent lower than the maximum 35 percent despite being Exxon Mobil’s fifth year as the top corporate earner in Fortune 500’s annual listing. The company paid no taxes at all to the U.S. federal government in 2009 on its domestic profits of nearly $2.6 billion. It appears that they avoided the tax man that year by legally funneling their profits through wholly owned subsidiaries in countries like the Cayman Islands, and reinvesting their earnings overseas.

Speed kills! Obama winning the time of possession, but Romney retaliating with quick-strike offense. And we'll be back with more of the Poulan Weed Eater Bowl after these messages.

Obama nodding and agreeing with Romney, I don't think he wants another 4 years, he's throwing in the towel

I'll admit that I'm biased towards Romney but I think he is taking it to Obama.
I am not a fan of either, and I think Obama is getting pummeled. But like has been said, Obama is the frontrunner, and Romney needs to attack to win, so he is being smart by doing so.

I'm sure that if your beliefs are either on the far left or right, you will see the debate as being dominated by your guy, but as an independent voter, I think that Romney is making Obama look really weak. The average voter knows that Obama is only paying lip service to reducing the deficit. At some point, past performance is far more telling than what you say while campaigning.

Why can'e our POTUS candidates just have the balls to tell us that we need to be healthier as a people? That would go a long way to reducing healthcare costs.

Not a fan of either also, but I don't think it matters. I think Obama has the election in the bag irrespective of what happens tonight.
