Presidential Debate Thread - Obama vs. Romney (1 Viewer)

So I know the cons on this board have to be pumped. I expect a lot more active wagering. If you guys can't back your guy and your mouth after by far the brightest moment for your boy's campaign, then you're a bunch of phonies. And don't give me this odds nonsense. If all your con skewed polls had Romney tied with O before this debate, then if anything, your guy should be the favorite.
Im guessing the bottle actually said take one pill every four hours. Not, well, whatever you did.
Not sure what you're not getting. You're usually a somewhat bright guy.

I don't know #### about politics but I turned to msnbc because of this thread. Theses people are full of ####.
Wait until Mathews is on again, you just may witness a stroke live.
Which guy is that?
Blond haired guy who looks drunk and is red I. The face. The one with the tingle in his leg.
I'm waiting on this guy. I hope he's not dead yet.
Keep checking YouTube. It's the rant right after that you will really want to see.

Pretty sure I saw him. His hair was getting blown all over the place.

Romney came across as a moderate tonight; like he's given up on trying to be a right wing radical caricature. Not that it makes much difference now; but I wonder how tight the race could be if he would have done that from the get-go.
Don't know why people are saying this; Romney is within striking distance in the swing states. According to the latest poll by National Journal, he is tied nationally and leads among independents by 8 points. And that was before tonight. I still think Obama wins, but who knows?

I've been hesitating on my support for Romney but he's really selling me tonight. He's hit on nearly all the main reasons that I supported him over Obama in the first place. I'm feeling much better about him,
I generally don't care for it when people dogpile on you around here but as much as you follow politics, it's ridiculous that one debate performance would affect your vote.
No, this makes perfect sense to me. Tim is most wishy washy wet noodle this board has ever seen. Mitt ran roughshod over the format and took charge. He did well anticipating the Lehrer wasn't going to do a thing about it. It was open season to say whatever you want. Smart move to take advantage. The thing that is stunning to me is how Mitt is lying about his position on nearly everything. He should have been buried on his tax cut proposal, but no one seemed interested in holding his feet to the fire. To see a goofball like timschochet swayed by Mitt simply denying reality was still entertaining, but fully expected. The substance and facts matter, and that's not undermined by 90 minutes of BS.

Guy on MSNBC trying to convince people that extending the current tax rates is actually a tax cut for the wealthy.

Krauthammer with a great point on Fox, how did Obama not introduce the 47 percent into this thing? in his words, CK thinkings Obama thought he could stand up there and run out the clock for 90 minutes and I agree...
Agree. Obama had opportuniy to throw punches but he didn't.
I wonder if the recently released video of Obama speaking to the black pastor conference in 2007 ad anything to do with that. Not sure talking about what someone says "behind closed doors" is a good idea when you've said some things yourself that might not reflect all that well.
Doubt it. That video is nothing new to Obama. He never mentioned Bain. He didn't mention that jobs were low in mass when Romney was there and how he left it. He just decided not to attack at all. Big mistake.

Also shocked that the 47% thing didn't get brought up.Obama not getting one annual budget passed in 4 years (2 years with both Democrat-controlled houses) should have been brought up as well. Only time in American history.
In the era of constant filibuster, this is hardly an astounding occurrence. Obama seems unwilling to point out Congress being an black hole of misery, but that explains it.

I think there's something to what you say CE

Shouldnt you be blabbing about how awesome Obama did tonight?

Open an account on intrade and buy shares on Romney in the swing states. Romney shares are selling for lower (considerably in all but Florida) than Obama's in every swing state but N. Carolina. If you truly believe Romney is within striking distance you'll stand to make a lot of money.

You know nothing about me, but if you had taken the time to read my posts you would recognize I've been far from inconsistent.I supported Mitt in the first place because I wanted a moderate, anti-Tea Party Republican, and that's what he appeared to be tonight. That's what I've been waiting for. I never believed his move to the right: this is the real Mitt Romney. For the record, I don't think his tax proposals make much sense either, but what difference? He'll never get them through anyhow. What he will do is attempt some sort of Simpson-Bowles type plan. And he'll cut needless regulations. And he'll repeal Obamacare. Those are the three things I took from tonight's debate. They're enough to me.
