I had a friend who won a car on TPIR, then went to the showcase showdown and won both prizes. She was like 20 years old and had a crappy job, so she ended up having to sell everything she won just to pay the taxes. All she kept was the car.

Well, at least she's not in a wheelchair, I guess.

That poor woman. Having to sell everything. Except, you know, the new car.

still kind of a pain in the #### ultimately.

Reminds me of the stories of the "ultimate home remodel" show or something like that.. the show came in, fixed up the homes, and a huge number of people ultimately had to sell and leave the home because the home was then re-appraised and they couldn't afford the property taxes.

The dark side of windfalls.

I didn't mean it as a sob story. But she won both grand prizes, which were filled with awesome things. She went from thinking she had won so much to having to sell it for pennies on the dollar just to afford the taxes on her Chrysler Le Baron.

:lmao: This quote:

That's like Santa Claus bringing a lonely kid an awesome robot friend who, by the way, must be fueled by human blood.
