Pro Bowlers to be announced today (1 Viewer)

As a Buffalo fan I have to say that I'm a little concerned that Aaron Schobel may get left out. He's leading the league in sacks right now with 13.5. He had 12 last year and 11.5 in 2003. I think he definitely deserves to be in.

My guess is that the linemen and DB positions will have the most guys that are getting in based on name alone. Should be interesting.

Why do they annouce the Pro Bowlers before the season even ends ?
:pickle:It is stupid that there is still 16% of the season left and they're picking the pro-Bowl.Pac Man should get a spot, but he won't. Bulluck is used to being overlooked at this point, so that won't be a shock.

Nnamdi Asomougha has been great on a terrible team, and might make it as an alternate, but I doubt he gets voted on. To be expected when your team wins 2 games.

Wonder if Alvis Whitted will make it? Dude has put up monster numbers. Oh wait, I thought that was for 1 game, that's his season....Great coaching job there Art. Start a WR all year that doesn't even make any of the 31 other teams roster.

It can happen though. Cortez Kennedy was named league's DMVP in the late 80s on a 2-14 Seahawks team.

Dan Koppen will get snubbed again. One of these days, the league will actually watch some tape and realize that he's the best Center in the AFC.

According to the fan voting, alot will get left out

Westbrook will get snubbed

Wow. Hester, Tait, Kreutz, Gould, Harris, Briggs, Urlacher, and Ayanbadejo all ended #1 at their position.

The Bears are going to have 8 or 9 Pro Bowlers...

Someone out ouf Gore, Barber Jackson will be left out

DeMeco Ryans is the only Texan I can think of that is deserving. No shot for him to get in though. He'll have to be happy with DROY.

I would of said Andre Johnson, but his numbers have really taken a dive the 2nd half of the season as Carr keeps regressing.

Speaking as a total Chargers homer I am so glad to see Lorenzo Neal the top vote getter in the fullback category. He is so deserving. The season LT is having is directly attributed to him and his blocking. I would be more upset if he was left off the pro bowl than if Gates, LT or Merriman were snubbed. The guys does a thankless job and loves every minute of it.

Romo finished 3rd in voting.

Edit: Here's more....

Romo finished third in the fan voting at quarterback, behind Brees and McNabb. He beat Bulger by 1,814 votes. Grossman finished fifth.

Other finishes -- Newman fourth, Ware third, Roy Williams first, McBriar first, Witten fourth, Owens third, Adams (OT) second, Gurode © third, Watkins fifth, Rivera fifth, Bradie James fifth, Keith Davis (ST) second and Tyson Thompson (KR) third.

The Pro Bowl rosters will be announced at 3 p.m. Central today on NFL Network. Some names might leak out before then.

I cant believe Im saying this, but I agree with something I read in the Sporting News, in that Lo Neal is one of the most OVERrated players in football. He hasnt been playing any better than an average FB this year, but is getting by on reputation and as a result of LT's success. And no, LT's success is not because of Neal.

Oh c'mon this isn't a real award of any substance. They aren't even waiting until the end of the regular season to pick these teams. And if its not based on the regular season, I don't know what it means. Its just some dog and pony show.

Big Pat Williams deserves to get in as a DT. A. Winfield deserves to be in at CB too, but he will probably be overlooked again.

Neal also helped Eddie George and Corey Dillon to some of their best years. He was a success before he arrived in SD. And I'm quite certain that LT would give Neal tons of credit for what he is able to accomplish with Neal blocking for him.

 I guess that I wasn't aware of the voting. I just assumed that we would be in.

Re-reading my post I realize Im being unclear. Im not talking about Neal's career being overrated, just this season. Hes helped plenty of guys ot big years, but this year hes whiffing alot of blocks and not dominating the point of attack like he has in years past.

Wasn't sure if Troy Polamalu would start. He went from All-World to "good" pretty fast. I realize part of that was due to injury, but it's supposed to be based on performence... not how you'd perform if you were healthy.

kerry rhodes snubbed for john lynch

god i hate all star games, especially this one.

at least justin miller made it

Three pro-bowlers for SD (Rivers, Merriman, Kaeding)...... and Eli misses the pro-bowl(and playoffs). Ouch.
Nine for SD: LT, Rivers, Gates, Neal, Hardwick, Merriman, Jamal, Kaeding, Osgood. What's the record? How many did the 1985 Bears have? I think nine, but I'm not sure.

Lynch jumped out at me too. Lynch is turning into Junior Seau, taking the spot of guys that have earned the spot based on the quality of play rather than their name recognition.

Who got screwed again....and he loses out to do Al Wilson....95 tackles, O Int. Fletcher 131 tackles, 3 INT, 2 TD's.Popularity contest again. And when is a coach going to do the right thing and select him as a player?
