Not sure who runs the site, or what their methodology is exactly, but the site rates players on each play to give one an idea of overall performance.

I just think the site is very cool, and is simply another tool for fantasy football heads.

For example: The Bears players versus Arizona. Throughout the season, the Bears offensive linemen have been pitiful(according to PFF) and this game was no exception.

I believe khaled posts a little bit over on the idp board as 'kal'.

can't say I've really looked at the player ratings all that much, so maybe I'm missing out on that count, but if you click the 'by week' or 'by team' tabs at top, then click on 'player participation' for any particular game you can get a pretty cool snap by snap log of who was on the field on any given play, and where they played.

also, if you select the 'offense' or 'defense' you can get a little window into how many snaps everybody played, what direction they ran the ball, who covered who, where they threw, etc.

Yep, it's a wonderful tool, especially for us IDPers.

I would caution on putting much stock into their win % and other subjective stats. I don't believe these guys are scouts.

But there is a plethora of invaluable objective information there.

Neil and the PFF team aren't scouts, nor do they claim to be.http://profootballfocus.com/about.php?tab=about

We are not grading style or technique; just result. We aren't looking for players with potential who have been badly coached or grading on technique. We've all heard the terms knee-bender, stiff hips, inconsistent footwork or over-extension etc. but as far as we're concerned it doesn't matter whether you know what they mean or not. All we care about is the result; did that linemen make the block he tried to make. This is Professional Football and the talent level is high enough and consistent enough to generally assume that the player at least attempted to do what their assignment was on that play.
I might be biased as some of the PFF team are internet acquaintences of mine but Pro Football Focus is an extrordinary site. It's interesting to see so many hardcore fantasy football fans seeing it as a valuable resource.

Been pimping this site in the IDP Forum for over a year and frequently link it in my weekly column. Lots and lots and lots of useful information for football fans from Neil and his crew and they've stepped up their efforts significantly this season.

Best kept secret on the internet for serious football fans.

I'll add my  , too. The beauty of it is they keep getting better and better. Not just in content, but also in their turnaround for providing the information they glean. It used to take the site weeks to complete their game stats for one NFL week. Now, they already have half the games from week 9 posted and generally they've been getting all the games done before the next Sunday rolls around. You can easily spend hours on that site.

Nice. I saw that J. Charles was on the field for 81% of the offensive snaps, but only recieved 6 carries. That gives me hope that he still could turn out to be a decent flex option if Haley decides to give him more carries. It could also explain why FBG is so high on him this coming week in OAK even though it appears that he did squat last week.

I've been following it every week since you posted it. :excited:

It's an awsome site... and Bramel turned me on to it. But, the way they attempt to rank players is really subjective, and something I find rather useless. But, for all the other stuff they provide, it's incredible.

Howdy, thanks for the kind words.

To a degree our ranking is subjective, any form of grading is (what the teams do is just as subjective for example and weirdly not quite as detailed per team as what we do) but we have our own standards and we're consistent in how we grade which is all you can really ask for.

Glad its proving a good tool for the fantasy community and we'll continue to keep trying to get games up quicker while expanding other areas of the site (the articles section is in need of an overhaul and is on the agenda but right now we're focused on producing the data people seem to love)

We're also happy to take on board constructive criticism/ suggestions for improvements as we attempt to build Pro Football Focus so feel free to hit me up by PM, or you can start following us on twitter (ProFootbalFocus - intentionally misspelt because of character restrictions) to get updates on when games are done and hear the ramblings of our analysts/ player participation guys as they do games.

Cheers

One immediate piece of feedback for you to kick around this offseason Kal. The fact that you guys are doing something that isn't being done anywhere else commercially - it seems like your site would be tailor made for expansion into the content sharing arena. Now that I've found you, I'll definitely be linking to you in some of my future articles. But more than that, if you guys were to develop some sort widget that could be copied with HTML code - of the top grades by position that week for instance...man, that's some info. I definitely wouldn't mind adding to my site content and newsletters. Something you should look into in the offseason is piling all of this info. into a nice little package for other industry members. Throw a little "ProFootballFocus" link on top of a widget and anytime someone adds your widget to their site, that's another link back to PFF out there.
