Project Blue: A Space Telescope to Find Another Earth (1 Viewer)

http://www.projectblue.org/the-mission/

A mission to build and launch a telescope to observe and photograph Earth-like planets around our nearest star system, Alpha Centauri.

Chances this gets off the ground or gets useful information on any level?
Saw this. They are hopeful as it's a similar star to our sun, but they still say there's a 15% chance it doesn't work. It seems chances are decent that it finds planets around the star, but like a super hot Jupiter type that doesn't resemble Earth. That's based on estimates that most stars have solar systems of some kind, but it may be rare to have a configuration similar to ours (rocky planet in habitable zone).

Timeline

2016:  Form partnerships & initiate fundraising
2017:   Preliminary design, proof of concept prototypes, integration, and initial instrument prototype
2018:   Final mission design, fabrication, assembly & testing; incorporate lessons learned from related balloon-borne flights
2019:   Final construction and launch to low-Earth orbit
2020 - 2022: Science and mission operations

As a business person that is involved in construction projects, I love this timeline.  Such optimism here.
