Props out to Mad Cow (1 Viewer)

Got my first shipment of Smiths in and I am liking them a lot. Very much a sportier line, though there are some very good fashion designs as well. Most of them can come with several lens styles that can be swapped out very easily. Gonna be rocking the Parallel Max, brown frame with the 3 ineterchangeable lens set and see how it goes. :kicksrock:

FYI - While I have not been doing any Ray-Ban business, there are 2 interesting developments:1. I am going to liquidate my remaining Ray-Bans at below the normal FBG price. If anyone is interested, let me know. I am doing this in-store and will extend it to FBG's. If there is a style you like, let me know and I will see if I have it.2. I am going to be a Smith distributor to make up for losing Ray-Ban, so I lose a PITA company and gain a great line. I know I have had inquiries about Smith before. I should be set up ready to roll in a week or so.
Nevermind. My bad.

The cow delivers again. Ordered a pair of Smith's on Thursday April 8th, paypal'ed the money that day. Sunglasses delivered to upstate NY on Saturday.

What brands constitute "others"?
As far as what I can carry? I regularly sell Maui Jim and Smith. Can do any Costa del Mar and many designer lines like Marc Jacobs, Gucci, Valentino, and a bunch. Hard to list them all here.I have a bunch of Ray Ban I still want to get rid of and will sell my remaining stock at 40% off MSRP, which at least lets me recoup my shipping costs. Other than that, it will be wholesale cost.

How you liking the Smith's so far MC? Still rocking the Bolle's I bought from you a couple years ago, might be in the market for a new pair soon though...

Smith's seem better quality for sure. Their warranty is nicer and good price points. Liking it so far.

MC- lost a pair of MJ Makaha's on vacation so I'll be in the market for a new pair. One question though, do you know if anyone makes a polarized lens that doesn't distort LCD (i think) displays (like the one on my cell phone)? Or could I get the Makaha's not polarized? Thanks.

I replied to your PM. All MJ's are always polarized. No non-polar option. No, that is just what polarized lenses do. The other option I suppose would be the Smith you asked about has a non-polar lens in the lens set it comes with, but frankly I would rather have the polar.

Just got a new line of sunglasses in - Suncloud Optics They are made by Smith and have the same warranty as Smith (limited lifetime) but carry a smaller price tag - $49.99 to $59.99 for the non-readers stuff. Some of it looks alright. I would say the lenses are probably the same stuff you get in Smith, so no Maui Jim by any stretch, but not bad at all for someone wanting a decent pair for a good price. Just an FYI. :bag:

Mad Cow is The Man! Or should I say . . . The Bovine! My new polarized, prescription IZOD sunglasses just arrived and they're perfect. Mad Cow was a pleasure to work with. He gave me great guidance, was extremely fast at responding to my emails, and gave me a smoking deal. Thanks, Mad Cow!

Have these done well?I lost my MJ's and am thinking a pair or two of the Profiles might be in order!

Not bad. They are a niche item, and I sell more MJ's, but have also sold about the same # of Smith as Suncloud.

The price of the Sunclouds just makes it a little easier to swallow losing a pair. :) I'll take a pair of Black/Rose Profiles while i decide which MJ's to get. I'll shoot you a PM.

I hit ya back.

MC>I saw a pair of Ray Bans on a cruise in December that I can't seem to find again. Don't know how to describe them but they were sort of a rimless aviator style but the lenses weren't really aviator shape if that makes sense.

Any ideas?

Unfortunately, no. I no longer carry Ray Bans, and I am sure the reasons are detailed in this thread somewhere. Cliff's Notes = reps were major dooshnozzles.

Have to bump this thread with thanks to Mad Cow, sweet deal on a pair of Maui Jim Hoku Shades. He didn't have them in stock, but ordered direct and then shipped them across the country to me in record time. It's cool to see people taking their time to do things like this for FBGs.

Glad they are working out.

One thing which has been popular for me lately is Juicy sunglasses, which women just cannot get enough of. If anyone is looking for some amazing sunglasses for their wife/SO/etc., they are very well designed.

FWIW I bought two pairs of Suncloud sunglasses from REI on clearance nearly two years ago and they have held up well. There are now some scratches on the lenses (is that warranteed, MC?) but they clarity is nice, especially on the brown polarized lenses.

I do not believe so. Yeah, the Suncloud are decent Suns for the price. That said, I still believe the Maui's are a much better lens if you are good with a little more price (even compared to regular Smith).

Hey Mad Cow, do you have any Carrera Hot (Color: Havana) in stock? How much?

TIA!

In stock, no, but I am pretty sure I can get them. Let me check.
Are you looking at the Hot/S or Hot/P/S? If you can link it to me and tell me any codes, I can give you a really good idea. They are aviators, yes? I see a Havana Green but then there are also lens options, in terms of polarized lenses as well as gradient tints. Let me know and I can give you a good answer.

Yes, looking for the gradient tint, not polarized.

So I think the Hot/S is the model. In terms of color, I'm looking for the brown. (I thought it was called Havana)

Dr. Mad Cow,

If I want a copy of my latest prescription can I just call up my eye doctor and have them fax it to me?

Mad Cow - Do you recommend a particular pair of sunglasses (prescription) for fishing?

I have a head the size of a medicine ball and here are the costa's I have been looking at:

Rincon

Santa Rosa

Gatun

It is all personal preference. Costa does have an Rx program, but it is much less defined than, say, Maui Jim. If you have the frame you want, I can get you information on them, however. Polarized is the big thing, and you might consider a lighter tint, such as a bronze, which will let you use it longer in the day.

Hmm, there are literally 11 SKU's I am looking at.

Which one of these is it? Your price will be much, much less, BTW.
