Just watched the 60 minutes segment on how an Italian company is raping American consumers in the eye glass world.
Luxottica owns Lens Crafters, Pearl Vision, Sun Glass Hut, Ray Ban and Oakley, and makes most other frames for other companies.
I got out of Luxottica long ago. Yes, they bought those companies several years ago, and
also created a vision insurance that feeds itself in many ways. They make their own frames, but they are one of a few that make the vast majority. I would not come close to saying they make most other frames for other companies. How it works is you have a company like Luxottica and they go out and get licenses for their frame lines, such as Anne Klein, Ray Ban, Armani, etc. Another company, for instance, does Juicy, JLo, Kate Spade, Fossil, and a ton of others. One company, many licenses.
