Pujols to resign with the Cardinals (1 Viewer)

It makes the most sense for him. He is going to get a ton of money no matter where he goes. Go anywhere else, and he is criticized the second his numbers decline, but in St. Louis he remains a hero forever.

I wonder if the lack of NY, Boston and Philadelphia in the free agent bidding had anything to do with helping his decision?

This is all hearsay although Pujols is likely to remain a Cardinal if indeed the usual big money suspects aren't bidding.

9 years $220 mill from the Marlins may be too hard to pass up....
Pretty sure that has been debunked.Marlins beat writer
saw that tweet long before i heard the 9/220 report actually. But you could be correct....
That tweet was in response to the 9/220 report. Later that night, Tim Brown of Yahoo! (the guy that reported 9/220), retracted his initial report.
The contract offer made to Albert Pujols(notes) by the Miami Marlins seems to be about where the St. Louis Cardinals have lingered since spring training, or much closer to Joe Mauer’s(notes) numbers than Alex Rodriguez’s.(notes)

On Tuesday, Yahoo! Sports reported that the offer from the suddenly – and suspiciously – flush Marlins was for nine years. We couldn’t secure the dollar amount, but guessed – given the Marlins’ need to at least get Pujols’ attention – that it could have been in the $225 million range.

On Wednesday, the Palm Beach Post reported the offer was for less than $200 million, so the average annual value – at most – would be $22 million.

No worries, just researched it and was reporting my findings.

Hearing the Marlins are offering a 10 year deal now. Way too long, especially with his age. I don't think the Cardinals should match it.
