Punt and Kickoff Returners 2009 (2 Viewers)

I cant answer if Clifton will play but everything I have seen lists him as questionable so if you have another returner I would use him instead.

If you don't have anyone else to use Stroughter wouldn't be a bad start. I think even if Clifton plays he might be limited on returns due to the injury. And the TD last week helps Stroughters case.

Lance Long has been promoted to the 53 man roster for the Chiefs and is active today. He might steal kick returns from Charles.

Damn I have Hester, Knox and Ginn, so tough to pick only 2 of these guys (also starting Cribbs and Ochocinco)

2nd broken leg of the season for my team.... Leon. :tinfoilhat:
Been a rough year year for kick returners: Justin Miller got cut, Norwood and Clifton Smith concussions, McKelvin and Washington broken legs, Carr, Demps, Wilson and Witherspoon all missed time...ETA: Dwight Lowery going to replace Leon on KR?

IS Mike Thomas (Jax) the sole PR and KR now?
:tinfoilhat: Witherspoon will probably be the kickoff returner
He pulled a hammy last game. Haven't heard if he is doing better or what...
Right, sorry - bye week, forgot about that one...Times-Union says he didn't practice last Thursday. Guess another one to monitor...if he's healthy I expect him to get the gig as he has been more effective.FML...every week I've got a returner out or questionable.ETA: JdR gave them Friday off, they go back to work today

Any news on Jordy Nelson? Will he be back this week, and will he be returning kicks, and punts?
No; the Packers promoted Jake Allen from the practice squad yesterday. Nelson is expected to miss the Vikings game.

Felix Jones will be the kick returner for the Cowboys this week v Seattle. Just heard it from Wade Phillips press conference. He was also the KR last week when Rossum went down but both kicks were touchbacks.

Have you seen anything more on Mike Thomas? I haven't.......

Witherspoon was riding a bike this Tuesday and did not practice yesterday.

Seahawks signed RB Louis Rankin from their practice squad.

Rankin, a 24-year-old former undrafted free agent, is an option on kick returns. His promotion may indicate that Justin Forsett's duties will decrease on special teams because Seattle feels Forsett deserves more work on offense.

KFFL) Jacksonville Jaguars CB Brian Witherspoon (hamstring) missed the team's practice Thursday, Oct. 29. He might miss practice Friday, Oct. 30, and he will likely miss the team's Week 8 game.

Does anybody have any information regarding Jerious Norwood as a KR? I know he's recovering from a concussion suffered a few weeks back...I saw that again Weems did all the returning this past weekend and wanted to see if there was insight as to whether this would be a permanent situation as Norwood as thrived in the past on KR duties
I'm interested in this as well. I won't drop him for a while unless there's some hard info, but I was hoping to see him out there returning the kicks last week.
Has he officially taken the kr job?

I think it's safe to say he's lost the job.

I guess I wasn't clear. I wanted to know if Weems, not Norwood, has won the job. He's been taking some kicks the last few weeks.

Does this mean that Mike Thomas is the man there now?

I don’t want to turn this into a who should I start post. But I was wondering who you guys think is going to get more return yards this weekend based on the matchups. Is it going to be Cribbs at Chicago if they actually kick to him instead of away or Eric Weems against the Saints.

Strictly return yards, I'd go with Weems. Weems also gets some receiving yardage but Cribbs gets some wildcat work.

I am trying to find out. I think so but haven't read anything significant or concrete to it yet. All I know is these guys might not be like the AJs and FItz's that put up 20 + points but in my league, most WR put up 5-10 points a week. Amendola, who I have been starting is putting up 15-20 each week. With byes, its either Mike Thomas or Lance Moore. I'm not even sure even if Mike Thomas is doing kick returns if this is a good week to play him........ I'll probably end up making the wrong decision on Gameday.....Let us know if you hear anything...

(KFFL) Michael C. Wright, of The Florida Times-Union, reports Jacksonville Jaguars WR Mike Thomas will be the punt returner Week 8 because of the injury to CB Brian Witherspoon (hamstring). I thought Thomas already did punt returns, it was a question of kickoffs......???....confused.....

They parsed the quote; the second half of the same sentence reads "...in addition to lining up alongside Rashad Jennings on kickoffs".fourth paragraph

I know this really belongs in the Assistant Coach forum but I can't get an answer from there so forgive me.

Here is the situation I have Cribbs and Weems with good matchups vs CHI and NO. I can start three WRs I have two left to fill would you guys start both or only one and which one. And would you start both over some good recievers such as Steve Smith NYG and Desean Jackson PHI.

Again I know this isn't the forum for it but I feel a lot of people don't have return yards in their league and we all are interested in Returners so again forgive me.

thanks in advace

Return yards- 10yrds=1pt same as reciever

With the Saints likely to score loads of points, I'd probably start Weems. With the news Cribbs is going to be tried out at rb, I'd probably play him as well. That is a very generous scoring system for kr's so imo you have to play them both each week.

I'd bench Smith and go with DeSean to complement your kr's.

Does anyone know whether Jocoby Jones is back on KOR/PR for good since he missed a couple of games and the fill in was Andre Davis.

Huh?Jacoby hasn't missed any time. Davis is the kr and Jacoby took the job while Davis was out. When Davis came back he took his kr duties back.
