Punt and Kickoff Returners 2010 (2 Viewers)

Anyone know why Arenas got so much more return yardage action in the Houston game? Has KC made a decision to cut back on McCluster's role in that area? Makes a big difference in return yardage leagues.
according to some guy in the idp kr thread, they had mccluster and arenas on the field for kr's and arenas just happened to be the target.
That would be me. :lmao:Yes, they lined up McCluster and Arenas together on kick returns, and they've actually been doing this a lot since week 2. I would expect it to continue, and I wouldn't expect consistent return yardage from either player.

Hi all,

I was looking for return yards given up by teams since Mike's Returnermen while great, doesn't cover this. Found it on ESPN. Here's the link

Note, something like this has probably been posted here before but I couldn't find it in my quick search, so thought I'd share. :lmao:

Spurlock on TB is still listed on the depth chart as the primary returner, but only returned 1 out of 6 kickoffs last week. Parker got the rest of the work. Anybody have any info?

Tampa has not been happy with Spurlock as a KR. They gave Parker a try and he did no better. I would be scared of this situation until it shakes out.

Dallas is toying with the idea of using Dez Bryant more on kickoffs. could be a boon to Bryant owners in return leagues if it happens.

Arenas will take over all return duties this week now that McCluster has been sidelined with a high ankle spain. For those in IDP, this could be a perfect week to start him against the Bills if you get return yardage, td's, etc. He usually adds a couple of solo tackles each week as well.

Amendola had 2 kickoff returns last week. Is he cemented in returning kicks now?
I'm assuming he did when Gilyard was out with a hamstring, but Gilyard was active week 8 and seems like amendola was still the only guy back there returning kickoffs. Not that I'm complaining... hopefully he keeps the job for good this year.

I think Jacoby Jones could be in for a great second half if he keeps the return job, which I'm guessing he will since he was very good last week. Only had 2 catches for 6 yards, but he was targeted 6 times and the passing game never got going for the Texans.

Just an FYI for the people interested in the whole returner thing...

Leon Washington was returning punts as well as kickoffs last week for Seattle. I know they want to get him more touches, but from me its total speculation that this trend will continue. I guess its a bit more than a guess as Golden Tate hurt an ankle last week. I fully expect Leon to get all those punt returns now. However, I also expect the Giants to slaughter Seattle so perhaps there won't be any punts to return. As I typed that I guess I realized that there might be a bunch of kick returns if NY scores a bunch on Seattle, but it is in Seattle where they usually play over their heads.

This post was brought to you buy the letter Q, the number 6, and the spirit of self-contradiction.

Thanks for the tip, just dropped Branch for Jones because we get return yards and he can easily get double digit points this week (not to mention a return TD could be possible). Plus, the Texans have favorable WR matchups down the stretch, so he could be worth a good bit in return ydg leagues with some potential to catch a few passes as well depending on AJ's health. Might as well take a chance since I wasn't using Branch anyway and I might have to sit Harvin this week.

Keep an eye on DB/KR Will Blackmon who signed last week with the Giants. Could be a good sneaky play this week if he gets the return job over Reynaud.

Roscoe Parrish is done for the year. I know he has a role in returns but was also getting more valuable as a receiver the past couple of games.

Rotoworld

Roscoe Parrish is done for the season with a fractured wrist, coach Chan Gailey announced Monday.

It's the same wrist Parrish fractured during his rookie season, although that was five years ago. Parrish was flouring in a career-best season in Gailey's spread-like offense as a slot receiver, with a career-high 400 receiving yards in just eight games. Parrish is signed cheaply through 2011, so he'll be back. It remains to be seen if the winless Gailey will, however.

what's the deal with the Buffalo game? there were no kick returns in the box score, despite a few Chicago touchdowns and the kick to open the half. kind of a bummer for Spiller owners.

Hey I am new to this forum but I think you guys can really help me,

I am in a 1 point for ever 10 return yard league, which is crazy.

there are never any status updates on the returners because no one seems to care about them.

wondering if you guys can give me any information on the guys I have

WR Returners I have:

Brandon Tate,

Marc Mariani.

Emmanuel Sanders.

Demarylius Thomas.

Micheal Spurlock,

RB Returners I have:

Bernard Scott.

Leon Washington.

I need to start 3 of the WR returners, and I am trying to decide who to start, right now I have Thomas and Spurlock benched because I am not sure if Thomas will get all the returns and Spurlock is playing Carolina who will never score and kick the ball off.

I need to start 1 of my RB returners, even though Leon Washington has been so good, but he still does not get all the kick returns, and Bernard Scott is now the loan returner with Adam Packman Jones out for the season. I think I am going to go with Scott because he is playing the Colts and they kick off a lot.

any thoughts or information I do not know about these returners can be very helpful.

(I also have Eric Weems but I benched him because of Ravens touchback ability)

I will give my opinion on your questions. As far as the three recievers to start, i would start them in this order:1. Tate- Playing indy should be plenty kick offs2.Demarylius Thomas- Playing SD, rivers is going to score should be plenty kicks I think he is a sleeper this week in return leagues no reason other then I have a feeling.3. Emmanuel Sanders- I think there will be somewhat enough kicks but not as many as you would like.4.Marc Mariani- Playin Mcnabb I wouldn't count on many returns5.Micheal Spurlock- I agree not going to happenRbsLeon Washington there playing the saints I think its gold

Demaryius is the play here I think. Also note that he doesn't get nearly as many returns in home games due to the thin Denver air and loads of touchbacks. Good thing 4 out of the next 5 are all on the road.

Clifton Smith, whom the Browns signed Tuesday, said he's ready to field punts and kickoffs as soon as Sunday. If Josh Cribbs (toes), who didn't practice Wednesday but is expected to return later this week, is limited, the Browns might need Smith. ''I'm the type of guy that's gonna catch the ball, run right at you, make you miss,'' Smith said. ''When I have the ball in my hands, I can make a lot of people miss and that's what I'm good at. My game is all quickness. ''I know the special-teams history around here. They've got the best returner in the NFL, maybe in NFL history — Josh Cribbs. It's just some big shoes to fill.''

you can stop posting now.

dez for sure.

they gave him some looks at Kick Return last week.. he might be the best kickreturner/puntreturner/widereciever in the league now

Is Leodis McKelvin still going to return punts/kicks if he fills in as the #2 CB for McGee this weekend? Could be a huge start for IDP, especially against the Steelers.

Trying to muster the fortitude to start Javier Arenas over Tulloch or Hawthorne in an IDP Lague that remwards returner yardage.

2 hrs. to KO remain in week 12 lineup sets with Arenas starting for a probable inactive Flowers and McCluster lookinjg iffy.

Slipping down a slippery slope or Shark play? :banned:

I started McKelvin last week and he scored less than 2 points all from returns. He was benched in the 2nd half because his pass coverage was so poor.I would not start him. He is just too risky and Spiller may be back this week.Arenas is getting much more playing time on D and had a great game with tackles last week. McCluster may be back however.I would start Arenas over McKelvin, but this week I went with Courtland Finnegan going against a Texan O in Houston..

Not sure if it makes a difference or not, but Spiller is out again this week.

Arenas didn't return kicks in week 12 (but did return punts). Can any KC homers fill me in on the situation?

Hester split kick return duties with Daniel Manning last week. I think Hester will still get a fair share of kick returns and all punt returns. For some reason Lovie Smith likes to use more than one kick returner (possibly depending on how long the offense or defense was on the field).
