QB Drake Maye, NE (1 Viewer)

He just looks so prototypical. Like he was built in a lab to play QB. I’ve thought a lot about McCarthy and Daniels but think I’m ready to say I want Maye at 2 for the Skins. Just feels like he has franchise QB written all over him.
In that case I hope they don't pick him

I’m gonna assume you mean because you think they’ll ruin him, which is completely nutso because we might as well be an expansion team. Anything that happened before this off-season happened to a different franchise.
Not what I mean. As a cowboys fan, if he is a franchise QB, I don't want the skins drafting him. lol

Did the experts explain away his games this year where he completed 50% of his passes?

4 games around 50%, one of which was a win over MIA where he went 4:0 TD:INT. 8 games over 65%.

After a Soph year where he went 4300/38/7.

I kinda feel like doubters need to explain away the other 20 great game he had.

What was his signature win as a QB?

This is a thing?

I haven't seen where this matters to future success/clutchness.

It would be so awesome if MIN can get up to 3 to get him.
I still can't fathom how WAS will pass on him, but I'll be so glad if they do.

Of all the things Washington fans have had to endure, watching Drake Maye and Sam Howell face off in the 2026 NFC Championship game will be up there with the worst of it.

Maye to Minnesota might be better than Caleb in Chicago.
As the owner of 1.02 in SF, that would make for an easy pick imo. Although passing on Harrison could hurt.
As a guy who cheers for the lions, I don’t like it nearly as much.

If Minnesota pulls it off, the NFC North becomes wildly fascinating (more than it already is).

Lions already SB Contenders. Packers young team already way ahead of schedule.

Then if you mix in CHI and MIN with really talented rookie QB's both somehow dropped into great situations, wow. You should never have rookie QB's of this caliber drafted by decent teams (CAR and WAS gift-wrapping this anomaly). 2 in the same year in the same division would be nuts.

I think this could be a really great landing spot.
There aren't many organizations set up to be as patient as NE. It's not a dumpster fire organization that he's being called in to save immediately. Brissett is a great QB to have in front of a QB that needs some time to develop.

A good organization and team has been competitive even in the post-Brady years until the defensive injuries were just too much last year. Some good chances to add WR talent in this draft.

The Coachspeak Index
#Patriots HC Jerod Mayo on his plan for Drake Maye:

“Ultimately, he still has to win that job and we’re not just gonna give it away. And I don’t think Jacoby [Brissett] — the type of player, the type of competitor that he is — is just gonna give it up, either. So, we’ll see what happens in camp.”

Mayo has been diligently reiterating the same two points in all of his interviews:

1. Maye’s need for development
2. There will be a competition for QB1 and the winner will be the QB who gives them the best chance to win

There’s a real shot that Maye starts the season on the bench

:blackdot:

Grabbed him at 5.3 in my 1QB league.

Giddy up!ne of, if not the best, value going IMO in the FFPC drafts.

Nice! Year one may not be so great but one of the best values going of one start QB FFPC drafts IMO.

Grabbed him two leagues myself.

Our league of course were I gave up 4.6 and a future 4th to get him at 3.11 and this was somewhat need based as I needed or wanted some upside at the position. Was my favorite pick for myself in our draft.

Other league I just took him at 4.8 even though I have Mahomes and Richardson because the value was just to good, can fit him in the roster and again feel great adding so much potential long term value for peanuts.

Like I said year one may not be so great and I understand why that would impact his value with him possibly not starting for a large chunk of the season and light on weapons but if we start looking at this in year two, where Caleb will likely have lost Keenan and NE will likely have got Maye some weapons, keeping in mind they got aggressive for Ridley, I think he'll be regarded as being in the same tier as Caleb and Daniels and he's a fraction of their cost.

And not for nothing but his statistical fantasy related performance in college was on par with both of them, just a tad under Calebs and his two season as a starter were better then 3 out of 4 seasons that Daniels had and I'd argue that Maye had the worst supporting cast, obviously nothing was close to the what Daniels had last year.

Grabbed Drake Maye 2.06
Currently 1QB going SF in 2026
He joins TLaw & JLove in my QB room
Caleb went 1.05, Daniels 1.06, JJMc 1.10 & Bo at 2.04
Don’t need him until 2026 so I can wait

Good value, especially not needing him for a couple years - and then he can be settled in and hopefully a solid starter.

I have noticed how young he is. I don't mean just his age but how he acts and conducts himself. I don't specifically think that is a bad thing, either. He may have to grow within himself and as an NFL quarterback. He had to play hero ball at UNC, and that will need to be coached out of him. He might just be young enough not to understand the pressure he is under in New England as their new franchise QB. He has all the tools and how they develop him, and the staff's patience will be critical. The other QBs in the class are more mature but already 2 to 4 years older than Drake. What is the ceiling for this kid in 3 to 4 years? Only time will tell. New England will need to be patient and dynasty managers, maybe even more patient.
