ESPN's Brady Henderson said Drew Lock was "clearly the better quarterback" during a recent mock game at Seahawks training camp.
Lock has reportedly looked much sharper than Smith, who by all accounts is the team's presumed Week 1 starter. "Smith has gotten virtually all of the first-team reps through the first week and a half of training camp, but it seemed as though that could -- and should -- start to change based on Lock's strong showing in Saturday's mock game," Henderson said. "He was clearly the better quarterback despite four of his five series coming with the No. 2 offense and against the No. 1 defense. Smith underwhelmed while mostly leading the first-team offense against backup defenders." That the inaccurate Lock is outperforming Smith isn't great news for Seattle's offensive prospects in 2022. Probably both Smith and Lock will wind up starting games for the Seahawks this season. Lock's mobility and willingness to flee the pocket makes him a slightly more enticing fantasy option than Smith.

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said Drew Lock is "nipping at [Geno Smith's] heels" in practice.
Carroll was asked about Smith's long-term viability as the Seattle starter following the veteran's red-hot start to the season. “He’s doing everything we could ask of him right now,” Carroll said. “It’s good, too, that he’s got Drew nipping at his heels every day in practice. Every day in practice, Drew does stuff. He’s got good stuff going right there in support of what Geno does. It just keeps everybody on their toes. It’s the whole thing about competition; it’s good and we like (that) it continues to be this way.” Carroll, long a fan of Lock's for some reason, might want to ensure Smith doesn't get complacent as the team's unquestioned starter. Smith, with the league's best completion rate over expected, is a long way from losing his grip on the starter's gig. Lock would be the team's starter if Smith were to miss time.

The Saints have a good defense, held Brady to 13 points (with Evans). I'm becoming a Geno believer, so is pff (90.2). Neither Lock nor Geno is signed past this year. With 2 picks in the 1st in 2023, and Denver struggling in a tough AFC, they could have 2 picks in the top 15, perhaps enough to get a franchise QB. Also 2 picks in the 2nd round. If Geno continues to cook, maybe they resign him and upgrade at other positions.Pretty much believe he was traded for on purpose. They wanted him to start, held off to the last moment. But he caught COVID, passed the test and was recovering. Imploded. Easy for an illness to lessen brain and bodily functions. Doesn't mean his accuracy will improve though. But, I feel they want that gunslinger mentailty before year's end to see what they got in him.
Geno has been rocking it thus far against some easy pass defenses. Just kind wonder when the journeyman comes back to the forefront. Ride the wave while we can.

Sources: Drew Lock will start for the #Seahawks. Geno Smith was limited in practice with a groin injury, and he won’t be able to go.
Lock is set to make his first start since 2021.

New York Giants are giving former Seahawks QB Drew Lock a one-year, guaranteed $5 million deal, per source.
Interesting. Have the Giants finally seen the light? This comes from Dan Duggan, Giants beat writer for The Athletic and very reputable.Speaking in a Thursday radio interview, Seahawks GM John Schneider said the team wanted to re-sign Drew Lock, but that the Giants sold him on getting a chance to start.
Per Schneider, the Giants “basically sold him on the opportunity to compete to be the starter.” Schneider also said Lock views this situation as “possibly being similar to Baker Mayfield in Tampa last year.” Alrighty then! Although you could argue it’s conjecture from a rival executive who doesn’t actually know the Giants’ internal plans, it’s the strongest sign yet the G-Men are ready to pull the plug on last year’s disastrous Daniel Jones contract mistake. That is, at least on the field. Jones’ deal remains un-cuttable for 2024. Lock would not be a clear upgrade on Jones, but Jones is also returning from a torn ACL after his legs were a big part of his surprise 2022 success. Things are going to be very interesting in New York this season.

Looks like he may be about to get his chance.
Lock is the better player, but Tommy appeals to the NY/NJ crowd and sells tickets and concessions. Tommy will also get the Giants a better draft pick. The thought process is pretty gross, but it is what it is.Looks like he may be about to get his chance.
That would have made a little bit of sense. He came to the Giants because he knew there’d be a chance to start at some point.
He says he was told he was the QB2 when he signed with the team. He’s been 2nd on the depth chart all year. Welp….still the QB2.
Man is struggling to take the high road. Thankfully he only signed for 2024 and can walk away from this organization.Looks like he may be about to get his chance.

WAS vs DAL?
Be careful what you wish for. I suspect that it would be best for Drew Lock career if he never starts for the Giants.Ian HartitzAbsolute joke for the Giants to go back to Tommy DeVito after that performance. Had absolutely nothing going on the entire afternoon. Meanwhile, Drew Lock gets a brief chance to spark the offense and never even let the football hit the ground. FREE DREW LOCK.x.com

Why would they start DeVito again?
Not a serious team.
Giants are tanking without saying they are tanking. All involved will be fine as long as they aren't the whistle blower (Brian Flores). Why would they start DeVito again?
