QB Gardner Minshew II - KC (1 Viewer)

Kid looks good FF wise...my next move may be dropping Brady for him as I waited for a QB and chose poorly with Brady (backed up with the inconsistent Goff).

I try not to panic so early in the season, but I’m considering dropping Wentz for him myself.

FMIA Week 2: Let Russ Cook? Wilson Has Ingredients For First MVP Season

Excerpt:

Gardner might be good. Really good. Last week, on Colin Cowherd’s show, NFL Films tapemeister Greg Cosell raised some eyebrows after Gardner Minshew’s 19-of-20 opener against the Colts. ”I don’t believe the Jaguars need a quarterback. I think Gardner Minshew can play quarterback in this league and be very effective.” Cosell called Minshew “refined, accurate,” had “good feel in the pocket, and deceptive movement ability.” Some of the throws he’s made while starting with a 75.4-percent accuracy rate show great presence and touch, and he mostly knows exactly when to leave the pocket and when to hang in.

Minshew took an idiotic 20-yard sack at Tennessee on Sunday, but made two great throws downfield: He hit D.J. Chark with a 45-yard strike between two Titans defenders, then dropped a touchdown into a bucket to tight end Tyler Eifert between three Titans. Two perfect throws, against a good defense. The rest of this year is going be very interesting for a team with four picks in the first two rounds next April—and three or four bright-prospect quarterbacks in the draft.

Terrirble blurb. He didn't struggle early, the Titans scored on their first two out of three drives (at least) -- if I'm not mistaken, the Titans scored on their first two, putting the Jags in an immediate hole. JAX will be running a lot of plays with that defense this year.

Honest question, who is better: Minshew or Baker Mayfield?
Put me in the crowd that thinks this isn't even a question right now.

Would have said Minshew heading into the season. The only thing anyone can hold against Minshew is his draft position. Minshew has pocket presence that Baker could only dream of. Minshew can make plays consistently under duress and can escape anytime he wants (and keep his eyes downfield in the process). Minshew throws guys open. Go watch the # of throws Minshew makes against DBs that don't have their head around. You don't see rookies/2nd year guys doing that with the regularity he does. #### you don't see vet QBs doing it as often as he does right now. Baker. a year more of experience in the league, doesn't do any of these things right now.

Minshew's looked like a 10 year vet since the moment he hit the field. It really just blows my mind how anyone doesn't see he or Derek Carr as franchise QBs. I'd fire the OC/coach before I'd fire either one as my starting QB.

Year 1: Minshew, with no starting reps going into season, takes over immediately as a rookie and leads his team to their only wins of the season. Finishing at .500 in his starts

Year 2: New season. New offense to learn. Front office complete tanking to overcome. No problem.

Minshew might just be good enough alone to destroy the tankathon by their front office. Even if he's not, and they draft Lawrence, every GM in the league should be on the phone trying to acquire him. Whether you need a starting QB or not.

I look at it this way: If I have to pick my horse to win 1 game, who would it be? For me, it's unquestionably Minshew. I think he can WIN you the game and also not LOSE you the game. I don't think Baker can win you a game.....but he can easily lose you the game.

Fantasy Football Week 2: Believe it or not, Gardner Minshew is a must-start QB and you can ignore the Giants

Excerpt:

Gardner Minshew is a must-start quarterback.

If you know me, you know that I'm as big a Minshew supporter as there is. But I've not been very supportive the first two weeks. I thought the Colts and Titans defenses could be a problem for Minshew as he learned Jay Gruden's offense. Boy was I wrong. He's thrown for 512 yards and six touchdowns with a quarterback rating of 115.7. You won't sit him again.

Verdict: Believe it.

This one is easy for now. Minshew faces the Dolphins, Bengals, Texans and Lions over the next four weeks. He has a bye after that. Then it gets interesting with a matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers in LA. It's debatable whether six weeks from now we'll start him in that matchup, but as Week 2 showed us, we don't even know who will be healthy for the Chargers at that point. Minshew is playing good football, his weapons are possibly better than we thought, and his defense is absolutely dreadful. You're starting him until further notice.

So, who is rolling with him tonight?

I am starting him over “Wince” in one league and debating starting him over Ryan in another

In over Stafford and Tannehill, both of whom I think are going to be solid ROS. Just playing the match up.

Starting in two QB league as my #2 over Stafford......the only reason I'm waivering slightly is the Golladay factor.  But I'm pretty much all in on Uncle Rico

Am I nuts to roll Minshew over Brady w/o Chark? This guy is such an enigma right now, but if there were a week to do it, it might be this one.

I am...Im at the point of Brady can't be trusted until he produces in that offense...or at this age for that matter.

Contemplayed picking up Cole to plug in...but would rather stick with Parker tonight and not have to drop Deebo to get Cole.

I am in the same boat with Deebo, may need to drop him for another WR to start this week. Ugg, I don't want to do it.

Gardner Minshew completed 30-of-42 passes for 275 yards, zero touchdowns and an interception in the Jaguars' 31-13, Week 3 loss to the Dolphins.

He also lost a fumble. Missing D.J. Chark, Minshew crashed back to earth after entering Week 3 as one of only two quarterbacks with three-score performances in each of the first two games of the season. Minshew wasn't good — he was overly focused on the middle of the field and was lucky to escape with only two turnovers — but he was let down by his pass catchers, especially Chris Conley, who was almost unspeakably bad. Minshew also lost LT Cam Robinson to a ticky tack ejection in the third quarter. The main takeaway tonight is that the Jags badly need Chark back, and they need to find a way to funnel him more than 3-4 targets. Save for perhaps Laviska Shenault, the rest of this receiver corps is not going to elevate its quarterback. As tempting as it will be for streamers to move on, Minshew has a golden Week 4 matchup in the Bengals.

I thought the turn style Jags O line was the story of this game.  Minshew was harassed, and had little time, every dropback

Gardner Minshew completed 27-of-40 passes for 351 yards with two touchdowns and an interception in Jacksonville's Week 4 loss to the Bengals.

Minshew rebounded after failing to throw a touchdown last week, though most of his yards came while playing from behind in the fourth quarter. He took three sacks and was under constant pressures behind an injured offensive line. Both of Minshew's touchdowns went to D.J. Chark, who he targeted a team-high nine times. Minshew has benefitted from a favorable early season schedule, with matchups against the Bengals, Dolphins, and Colts. He's on pace for 3,414 yards and a 24:12 TD/INT ratio through the first four games.

Gardner Minshew completed 25-of-44 passes for 243 yards, one touchdown and an interception in the Jaguars' 34-16, Week 6 loss to the Lions, adding three rushes for 14 yards and an additional score.

Dreary stuff in a matchup where Minshew should have done more fantasy damage. His six-yard scoring scramble late in the third quarter did ensure his day was far from a disaster. Minshew's pick was a terri-bad throw where the ball appeared to die in the air like a wounded dove. He also missed D.J. Chark for a gimme 50-yard completion on an underthrown ball. Minshew continues to confound his low expectations, but he isn't looking like a quarterback who will graduate beyond bridge status. The Chargers are a tough, if injured, Week 7 matchup before the Jags' bye week.

Minshew might get benched if he continues to struggle. The stats look good, the QB rating is decent due to a high completion % from lots of check downs. He was a good bye week filler for me, but I guess the Jags want to see who will be next year's backup to the QB they draft or get through trade. It will not be easy to get Trevor with the Jets, Giants and Wash in the mix.

He is averaging 23.4 FPPG and Lamar Jackson is averaging 23.6. But in real football terms Minshew doesn't seem like he is taking a step forward this year at all. I wish he was but it's probably time for me to move on.
