Back to back deep balls from Jalen Hurts in 7-on-7s. First one to John Hightower, second to Quez Watkins. Hurts celebrated the second with a little dance.

Hurts is cooking with gas, at least in the first open practices of OTAs.

I’ve seen Jalen Hurts practice three times since last season ended
Each time I’ve left practice thinking he looked like a QB that is going to take a big leap forward this season
Long way until Week 1 but I think early signs for Hurts are very positive

Jalen Hurts through 3 practices:
36/51, 4 TD, 3 INT
Really strong 1st practice. But the passing offense has been disappointing the last two days. Very little success with anything beyond 10 yards.

Get on board people.6 for 6, 80 yards and a TD

Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer believes Jalen Hurts has improved his accuracy and pocket presence.
"Normally, quarterbacks don’t get to the NFL and get a whole lot more accurate. Hurts has," Breer said. "Normally, quarterbacks don’t get to the NFL and make big strides in throwing with anticipation. Hurts has done that, too. And normally, a quarterback can’t do a ton to improve his presence in the pocket, either. And, yes, Hurts has also made strides there." Breer's report meshes with beat writers who have complimented Hurts' improved accuracy, especially on intermediate throws. Hurts in 2021 was 24th out of 30 qualifying QBs in adjusted completion rate, per PFF. He was 22nd in completion rate over expected. Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni has been effusive about Hurts' offseason work ethic, and Philadelphia coaches have said Hurts "has gotten more mobility and fluidity in his [throwing] motion, a result of working smarter, not necessarily harder, in the weight room." A more accurate, efficient Hurts would be huge for the fantasy upside of A.J. Brown and the rest of the team's pass catchers.

“I think it's just the confidence and the smoothness of everything he's doing. Its year 2 in the system. You can see by the way he's playing, the way he's going through his reads. It'll be exciting to see on Sunday”
Eagles OC Shane Steichen on Jalen Hurts
I haven't watched him play much. But my buddy is an Eagles fan. He says Hurts is a little slow, and while blessed with all the physical tools, doesn't play quarterback coherently. Even on read option plays, for which he should be well suited, often makes the wrong read.
You want Hurts to be like Lamar Jackson. But Lamar also has great awareness, reactions, and pocket presence. You could see these things from him in year two.
Could Hurts make the year 3 jump? Maybe. What's his face did. So we'll see. But I'm with @DJackson10 on this one, I'm not buying all the endorsement this off season.

I noticed this a lot last year. Weird.
That will kill pocket QBs. So if you want Hurts throwing Joe Montana slants all game he won't be your guy.I agree with said poster that hurts operates about half a second too slow in mental processing. That will kill you in the nfl- maybe his game is improved. We will find out! Week 1 isn’t a great measuring stick as it’s the lions
It would help if Hurts stayed in the pocket for more than 3/4 of a second, maybe enough time to make to his 2nd read. That will kill pocket QBs. When a breaks contain, and DBs have to cover for 6 seconds, he gets a massive margin for error that pocket QBs don't have.

If you're playing dynasty, it's important to consider whether he's good enough to keep being a starter. He's a lot better in fantasy because the rushing yards aren't worth more in real life. This guy almost single-handedly won me a fantasy championship in his rookie year. Then followed up as a top 5 QB in his second year for a long majority of the season until he got hurt late. But somehow, he still gets no respect. I'm not talking respect as an NFL QB. I'm talking respect as a fantasy QB.
This is true. One difference in my long time league from most leagues is that there is no bonus for rushing yards at the QB position. Whatever the total yards are equals the point total you get, plus the total TDs. 200 + 100 = 300 +0. I like it because it better reflects the actual production at the NFL level.it's important to consider whether he's good enough to keep being a starter. I don't disagree at all, but in that case, do your RB's and WR's get more points per rushing yard (and or receiving yard) than your QB's get for the same yards? In which case, the "reflecting actual production" seems like an inch in the right direction toward a faraway goal. Heck, INT's should probably be as bad as touchdowns are good, right? I would call an NFL QB with TD's equal to picks on the season as easily below replacement level. This is true. Weighting the various positions is a lot trickier than equalizing QBs. If we gave a point for every 10 yards to QBs they would dominate drafts. I just don't like how fantasy minimizes them to later round picks.I don't disagree at all, but in that case, do your RB's and WR's get more points per rushing yard (and or receiving yard) than your QB's get for the same yards? Sorry, getting very off topic. But no matter how you slice it, I think we've got a long way to go to reconcile NFL player value with fantasy player value.
I remember back in the day, I setup a league where they got a pt per first down completed. If I recall, it helped boost the value while not also rewarded dumpoffs on 3rd and long too much.Weighting the various positions is a lot trickier than equalizing QBs. Jalen Hurts completed 18-of-32 attempts for 243 yards in the Eagles' 38-35, Week 1 win over the Lions, adding 17 carries for 90 yards and a touchdown.
Hurts looked shaky to start the game, going 0-of-5 on the first drive. Scrambling for yards on the ground was the only way Philly moved the ball. On the second drive, Hurts locked in on A.J. Brown and looked far more comfortable. The drive ended with a designed run for Hurts that he punched into the end zone. Hurts took off from the pocket frequently but was impossible to bring down for sacks. The Detroit front got him down behind the line of scrimmage just once. Hurts still has some work to do as a passer, but the impact of adding Brown to the lineup can't be understated. Add in a heavy dose of rushing production and Hurts is a locked-in QB1 for his Week 2 matchup with the Vikings.

Jalen Hurts completed 26-of-31 passes for 333 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in the Eagles' 24-7, Week 2 win over the Vikings Monday night, adding 11 carries for 57 yards and two additional touchdowns.
All of the scoring in this one came in the first half, as Hurts got the scoring started with a three-yard touchdown run, dragging a couple defenders with him to cross the goal line on a straight keeper. The second came from 26 yards away, and he essentially willed himself into the end zone, spinning through a couple defenders trying to strip him of the football. Hurts is now up to 28-147-3 as a rusher through two games. And on top of that, he tossed his first touchdown of the year with a 53-yard heave to Quez Watkins deep down the middle. Hurts was unstoppable in the Eagles' home opener and would have had a much bigger night in the box score if the Vikings were at all competitive. Hurts has the overall QB1 upside every time he takes the field and will get a road date with the Commanders in Week 3.

If Hurts keeps playing like this, he is going to be included with the group of today’s young great QBs. Maybe he is already included in that group.Injury risk is very real with rushing QBs. But those of you who have been calling for the regression cliff on Hurts are going to continue being prove dead wrong IMO. Barring a spell to end last season when he was *hurt* Hurts has been a top 5 fantasy QB since at every moment of his NFL career, dating back to his rookie season. And now he has a legit WR1 to compliment him.
