QB Jalen Hurts, PHI (2 Viewers)

Bucs are lit up against running qbs. 15-90-2 wouldn’t surprise me on the ground
I've got to look at the data on this if I'm to gain more comfort in Hurts this week.

If I do recall, TB lost some key defenders on the line this week...and their secondary already blows.

Daniels went for 80-2.

bo nix went for 50-1.

Goff doesn’t run.

Eagles are a good team. Jalen went way under his season average last week. It’s due to regress upwards in a big way. He went for 24 fantasy points on 180 yards passing vs the falcons

I found another fun fact-

The Bucs are allowing 18.7 half ppr points to QBs without a single passing touchdown allowed. Rated 7th best matchup lol

Hurts has also thrown an INT in seven straight games. Found that surprising.

He had middling performances last year in two games against TB. Did manage a TD rush in one game, but otherwise didn't rush much...28 yards early in the season and only 5 yards late in the season. You could argue that team was a mess late in the season.

Daniels and Nix running stats undeniable. Need to get a read on who on the TB D is in or out. Keep hearing they are seriously banged up.

This may come down to this. If AJ Brown starts, so does Hurts. If AJ sits, I have to consider Geno Smith.

So let's imagine that both AJ Brown and D. Smith are out this week.

Is it possible that J. Hurts is a sit?

It's a damn shame too because TB's secondary is a wreck, but he can't throw to Goedert every time. TB usually tougher against the run too.
To be fair, if you take away any QB's top 2 pass catching options, this is probably going to be a strong fantasy consideration.

I'd be considering this for any QB not named Mahomes or Allen.

Exactly.

Feel like the reaction I'm getting is that I'm insane for considering. And it's not like Hurts has been lights out with AJ and Devonte on the field.

Game is in TB. Bowles blitzes. Hurts doesn't like it. Also, Bowles knows to force Hurts to run to his left (not to his right where he wants to go).

Jalen Hurts has a 71.4% completion rate against the blitz this year (t-8th in #NFL ).

Think K. Moore has improved the O in this regard big time vs. last year.

Just read that TB doesn't have a sack in the last 2 games and 100 passes. Think V. Vea being active is key for them.

Tampas pretty dinged up. A bunch of guys are out or questionable

AJ Brown out.

Anyone subbing Hurts out?

Thinking Geno now.
I have the same decision to make, but I believe I'm going Hurts. Feel like Hurts has a better floor with the rushing yards and rushing TD possibility.

But also our league scores passing yards weirdly, where it mostly only matters whether you hit 300 or not (0-299 scores 0-5, and 300+ scores 11+). Geno is technically only a hair ahead YTD, but I would like his chances of hitting 300 a lot better than Hurts's without his main weapons.

But still probably going with Hurts.

He's going to be without his top 2 WR, and he has no TD the last two weeks. On the road as well.

I think it's completely valid to play the matchups and bench him.

I am starting Brock Purdy this week against the 25th ranked Patriots pass defense. Especially with Deebo and Kittle coming back.

K. Cousins just passed for over 500 yards against the TB secondary.

Think it took PHI to get positive yards through the air against this same D until late in the 2nd quarter last week.

They better get their sh*t together on this bye week or Siriani is gonzo.

Take away London and Mooney's numbers, and that'll be a fairer comparison.

That’s still 260 yards and 1 td lol

Normalizing things, yes Hurts would’ve done better with his receivers. The Eagles really aren’t developing young receivers recently to help with depth.

Christ that was awful watching him play at at times. Just stands there and eats a sack. He just can't process fast enough.
I'll take a few sacks here and there if you give me turnover free football en route to a 25 point win.

For being so terrible yesterday, I'm sure everyone will guess within 10 points of what his QB rating was yesterday.

Any blind takers?

Meh, he didn't have to do much. Saquon clearly was the point of emphasis yesterday. Gints pass rush is legit, run defense not so much. Why force a square peg into a round hole? I didn't love the sack in real time, but honestly, I very much prefer that to him a. running it and possibly fumbling or b. forcing a stupid throw into coverage. The gints offense was doing NOTHING yesterday. I'm sure they told him on the sidelines to take sacks if necessary-the only way a ****ty team like NYG is going to beat the Eagles is if we hand them a bunch of stupid TO's. He protected the ball. He needs to do more of that.

Also, that throw to AJ on 4th and 3 while getting hit was about as money a throw a QB can make.

It easy when the WR shoves the CB for a 5 Yard cushion

Actually it’s not. Contact or no, Hurts, while getting hit by a blitzer, dropped an absolute dime right into the breadbasket. AJ didn’t break stride. It’s the best throw I’ve seen from Jalen all year.

Also it was a helluva call by Sirianni to go super aggressive there also.

If it wasn't for that play you guys might have won the game.

Best throw from Jalen all year.

Best throw from Jalen all year.

NY had absolutely zero chance of winning that game on Sunday.
