QB Jalen Hurts, PHI (2 Viewers)

326 yards, 3 deep TD passes, perfect 158.3 passer rating, another win. All against a top five defense and arguably #1 pass defense in the league. RB playing the QB position my hairy-***.
Hopefully the Eagles learn from this and lean into it. They should be a pass 1st team. It shouldn't matter how they won the Super Bowl last season. That's not the team they have now, this team should be throwing 35 times a game and taking routine deep shots.

I also liked the PA under center stuff. Helps the OL and gives the defense more to think about.

My favorite thing about this thread is when Jalen Hurts has great games, there literally is no action at all.

Season Ranks:

YPA: 10th
Comp %: 7th
Passing Tds: T-3
Rating: 4th

Also First player in NFL history to have a 15:1 TD:INT ratio thru the first 8 games of a season.

Add in 5 rushing TDs, pacing for 40+ total touchdowns

Is there a realistic chance that this is accurate? Hurts just flat-out defying what the coaches tell him to do? I don't see a quarterback getting away with that.

I hear ya...was really blown away to read this...there seems to be some tension with their O but if this were true that takes things to a totally different level...I do find it hard to believe he is defying the coaching-stuff...if it were that bad I would think we would have heard rumblings of it before now.

Flat out defiance is a serious accusation, and maybe incorrectly described/reported. Hesitant to "let it fly" is fairly common though and usually results in crazy low INT ratio which becomes a misleading stat on good football teams (w/ mediocre QBs). I think about someone like Alex Smith... always seemed to have a very good QB rating, which IIRC was resulting from low INTs... which was directly tied to his hesitancy to throw it downfield or toss 50/50 balls. But because Alex Smith had a good QB rating and his teams won nobody really focused on it. The 2025 Eagles kind of fit that mold. 2024 they just ran the ball like crazy which (I'm sure) helped to open up the passing game. Right now the Eagles offense is looking like the plane crash of 2023... except the defense is so dominant they are still winning.

Patullo is not running the offense to Hurts strengths, like last year

Patullo is 100% the issue, trying to pass it off on others is not what's really going on.
the offense was much better under Moore, Patullo and his lack of experience calling plays and running an offense is glaring
He does not play to his players strong points, he is also predictable in his calls

He needs to go for someone who has a better clue on what they are doing

All of this is true. AND in parallel the QB is missing wide open guys repeatedly.

I wonder why people take the criticism of the QB for the team they root for personally? It could truly be a fascinating study. Someone calls my baby ugly, sure, we are throwing hands, but the QB of my team?

He was JaMarcus Russell 2.0 tonight. Single-handedly knocked thousands of teams out of the playoffs. Hearing about some brutal brutal losses

I needed ten points for a shot at the playoffs in one league and was submerged with Hurts and his .40 total. He’s just not a good QB and the fans from Filadelfia hysterical about outsider assessment would be funny if they weren’t constantly wrong and mean-spirited.

But then there was almost a miracle I benefited from. I almost caught a team that entered the weekend up 135 points on me for the entire year. He had Hurts and Hurts’s -.7 almost cost him. Good thing he had Goedert, who scored 17.2 in a muted PPR (.2 per catch) because he only won that tiebreak by ~10 points.

The worst part was that I thought I won because the app said he left two receivers who were out as starters (which confused me terribly because our league members aren’t complete sharps but are good quality and attentive) but for whatever reason I forgot we do contingencies if a guy is questionable. So I think the dude is up 4 and Hurts throws a pick so that’s -4.5 (tough scoring) and I’m jumping up and down and rejoicing and then. . . ****. I’d forgotten because I always just set my lineup before the game so I go to our league website and he has Downs and Noel. 12 points. I lose.

lol. At least it means the league isn’t folding, so that’s good. Bright side.

Had a 16 point lead and was proj'd to win by 28 heading into the game, his vidal and dicker... me hurts and eagles D. His two players exceeded their projections by over 200%. Eagles D was fine. Hurts scored 0.4 and i lost by 10. missed the playoffs as a result. it was 3.5 hours of pain that when you thought it was bottom. it kept falling. i cant help but laught as it's so absurd what happened.

Will be interesting to see how many drafters remember this next year in their QB ranks. We fantasy goons have long memories.

He's not great. He's had great moments but something seems off.

Nowhere near the development you'd have expect out of him

He has a ring and he probably played his best game ever in the one he didn't win.

But just... odd

Any trust starting him going forward? the rankings always have him in the top 5, but I don't know man. The offensive playcalling seems terrible. I hope my bias is not clouding my judgment.

I wouldn't. Theyve barely run a tush push in 2 weeks and always seem to struggle with it now. Can barely get to the goal line since the bye. So no auto TDs. No QB runs dialled up either. So the built in floor of 1-2 rushing TDs gone makes him a shaky play.

I have confidence in him for Week 15 and 16. Not sure about 17, but my other option would be McCarthy. Even though McCarthy's matchup is way better, I don't think there's any way I do that.

you can see how good the OC play calling was the past two years, with Patullo the play calling is not good
does not put Hurts in good positions to succeed.

The O Line is not as good this year

Hurts attitude has changed also, he does not want to run, he has said he does not want designed run plays called anymore
Seems like winning has gone to his head and he is now a prima donna and soft, not all about winning any longer
