QB Jayden Daniels, WAS (12 Viewers)

Pit and Phi both have good pass rush. The Commanders o-line has gotten dominated the last two weeks. The offense looks broken, and especially bad (maybe the short week?).

It's not a five alarm fire yet, but it's not great.

Noticed on the 4th down keeper play how he was stopped dead on the full body to body contact.
His body is not meant to absorb punishment.

Couldn’t hit a wr tonight which is concerning. The rbs for the commanders were killing it early though. Looked like he missed the shorter routes when the eagles were in zone later in the game. The eagles were keeping everything in front of them and didn’t let them beat them deep

I'm gonna take the position that there is nothing to see here. He just faced the 2 best defenses in the NFL, and they exposed the fact that the weapons aren't great, and the OL is just ok.

Not worried about Daniels at all. Neither his play, nor his health. This is still a top-6 fantasy QB, and this is still a top-6 MVP candidate, and the clear rookie of the year.

It only gets easier/better from here.

True but it’s a copycat league and he will see the same sort of D every week until he can beat it.

That week will be next week, against Dallas.

They couldn’t play Dallas at a better time

Its why fantasy football is stupid. I wake up to sick feeling in my stomach seeing my opponents Ertz outscore my Daniels. Then I see he plays Dallas next at home. I justify starting him. Then when it's over I think what the hell was I doing. The stove is hot but I don't learn. I'll keep touching it. Smh

The human element is what makes it fun. Unfortunately what benefits Washington isn’t always what benefits us.

He did not look good last night or last weekend. There have been a lot of raves about him so I expected different game play than extreme checkdowns and skipping the ball in at his receivers’ feet when he did push the ball downfield (which felt like never). That was awful.

Chalk it up to injury I guess, but those were some tough watches.

I own him in my main dynasty league (along with Love and Dak), so I am not doing anything hasty, but I could see someone dropping him in a re-draft league. 200 yards/game passing with no rushing yards and maybe 1 TD pass is about as bad as it gets in 2024. Giving him the benefit of the doubt that he has faced some tough defenses, and the rib injury certainly has not helped. If the "get-right" game against the Cowboys next week does not yield an above average fantasy week, then it will be DEFCON 1.

if this is the one that failed, I saw the play. I actually think that was a broken play. he kind of bobbled the snap and I think that he turned and it looked like he may have wanted to hand the ball off (though that look could admittedly be by design) and then he bolted out of the pocket and took it wide to run it. but I think the bobbling of the snap threw the timing of the play off. it could have been a designed handoff (or fake handoff) that went wrong due to the bobbling of the snap.

This is true, but some teams dont have the personell to play this way.

its easy to see a good defense do certain things to a QB but sometimes there are things that good defense does that a lesser defense is incapable of doing (even though they may try)

at the end of the day, I can say we agree other defenses will try to do the same thing but not all will be successful.

I don't think the type of defenses he's facing has mattered. Its the talent and coaching. No team has the DL the Steelers have, and no team has the secondary the Eagles have. These are also defenses being run by Mike Tomlin and Vic Fangio, 2 top defensive minds. Looking ahead at Washington's schedule the only matchup they really have to worry about is the rematch with Philly in week 16, and who knows how healthy either team will be in 5 weeks.

ETA: The biggest issue last night was none of the WRs were getting open. It was just Ertz and Ekeler. Combine that with the OL not doing well, and Daniels was fine last night. By no means was he the reason they lost.

Noah Brown was wide open on the pass that skipped at his feet. McLaurin was open at times. What you had was a check down machine last night. Against Cincinnati, Daniels was putting the ball in tight windows and throwing to covered guys. Last night was . . . not that.

Considering they have a bye in week 14 and Philly in week 16, I would be looking for a backup right now.

I'm not as bullish on Daniels as the general FF community. He's got a tiny frame. Daniels needs to bulk up to take full advantage of his running ability, but you have to be careful doing that as a QB.

I also question if he's got the high-end arm talent he's portrayed as having.

I think he without a doubt has high-end arm talent. He has an elite arm and accuracy on his deep throws. He also has good touch. I think the rib injury has screwed his throwing motion and gotten in hiis head a bit too. He was missing throws on Thursday that he was nailing earlier in the year.

I'd agree. injured ribs can be a bad injury for a QB. every time you throw you twist your torso which affects your ribs some. depending on which rib is brokin it can be quite painful. but of course they dont tell us which one is broken, so we have to guess, but when you see throws like that that you dont typically see, I have to think the injury has affected him some.

Post rib injury, Jayden had good games v Chi & NYG then had "off" games v good D's Pitt & PHI. It seems the quality of opponent may be biggest factor. On the plus side this week he plays Dallas and he had a mini bye week. Yet I'm leaning to starting Goff this week v Indy the get back on Jayden bandwagon after wk 14 bye except Philly game.

Have been wavering each week starting Mahomes or Daniels and have started the wrong one each week ... time to deal or sit Mahomes and ride Daniels in the playoffs!!

Daniels is in that "can not sit" territory again imo. Part of what made him so lethal was his legs and when he got hurt, he nor the staff wanted him to be rushing at all. Well yesterday he had 9 rushing attempts and made a few disgusting jukes on a short TD run. He is so back, baby.

Could really use him this week. Top 7 teams are all 8-5 (I've never seen that before in 20 years). I am currently in 2nd. If I lose there is a path for me to miss the playoffs the way the matchups are set up.
