QB Joe Burrow, CIN (1 Viewer)

Isn’t this all speculation at this point ? For all we really know he could try and play through it to some degree sooner rather than later? Someone mentioned earlier that Mahomes had a grade 2 and played through it ?

We know that they've already asked the infamous Dr. Robert Anderson to give a 2nd opinion. If they're asking him, they really didn't like the 1st opinion and are hoping for a miracle.

Right. Just protocol at this point. You don't want to be the one to put the wraps on - yet another - season for this guy without being able to say that you pursued every avenue.

Well, that’s a relief. Right? The fantasy docs were speculating anything from a high ankle sprain to a lisfranc to an achilles.
Not even close on the replay, I wonder how many were watching it live, nothing said season ending injury but faceless social media accounts can't wait to stir the pot

When you hear that a player has turf toe, you think he’s gonna miss a week or two, maybe a month max. This was just a freak thing. I don’t think any of us saw it coming.

Shocked that Mr softee is the only guy ive ever heard of missing an entire season due to turf tow.

😉
It led to Jack Lambert's early retirement, and Deion Sanders tried to play through it and ended up having two toes amputated.

Such a shame. Great QB who can't stay healthy.

I can only imagine the mental anguish he has been going thru constantly rehabbing, surgeries, etc.....it's hard. Very hard to keep staying mentally tough when you are constantly battling season ending injuries.

Career ending you think?
Dynasty value now rock bottom

Andrew luck comes to mind. Eventually you give up playing for a franchise that runs the team in a way that isn’t protecting your best asset. That said I’m unsure how much Joe is involved in wanting to keep his WRs core in tact which is very costly.

That said, it’s sad as a dynasty owner because the season is basically through and most of us are struggling to find backups in 1 qb

I think we need to differentiate between a player’s body not being as durable vs his mind being weak. Burrow may be the former, but he’s not the latter.
Message board posters calling him soft when he stood in the pocket to deliver throws with Myles Garrett running straight at him last week is the definition of lame.
Message board posters taking FANTASY football too seriously are lame. Lighten up.

I don't care even a little bit about fantasy football.

Cincy’s lack of investment in a serious offensive line is embarrassing. Sucks this guy has to play behind these bozos.
their owners are cheap and they have the smallest scouting department maybe in all of sports; that franchise is ran poorly
How's your franchise doing?
They hit on their draft picks that aren’t TE or OL lol but they keep letting stroud takes hits and he’s going to end up being Andrew luck in a bad way

Then why are you posting in a fantasy football message board

My backup is drake maye who someone stupidly dropped last week and I just so happened to pickup yesterday morning. Might still try and grab Daniel Jones. Id love to trade for Goff.

Curious... what do you think the subject matter of The Shark Pool is? :ponder:

Got me on a technicality. Fair enough.

3rd time over 6 seasons he's missing significant time. Probably not worth arguing how much is on him, vs team, vs bad luck. But regardless, he's falling short of both dynasty and redraft expectations and values. Starting to wonder if I shouldn't have accepted some of the offers I received for him over this off season.

I'm sure people will make the same arguments they made for CMC about how he's a league winner when he's available. Just getting hard to overlook he's a league wrecker 50% of the time too though. Guess some people play in leagues where startable QBs are found on waivers; but in 5 non-SF leagues right now and there is no one to pick up this week. Daniel Jones, Russ, Stafford, and Mac Jones were available and picked up last week. This week your options are Browning, Wents, and Tyrod. TBF, all of these leagues the Burrow owner had a back up to replace him with on their bench; but most were also bottom barrel backups. Understandable considering the cost of drafting Burrow to begin with.

Probably not worth arguing how much is on him,
Not much
A whole lot since the OL stinks
vs bad luck
Most definitely some of this as well, but it’s mostly on the team.
Yeah I think that's a fair assessment. I do think the organization gets knocked harder than necessary for being "cheap" considering they did open the wallets for him, Chase, Higgins, and even Hendrickson eventually. But you'd still like to see them put a little more into protecting the most important guy. When Burrow is healthy and on the field, they seem like they are a playoff team regardless of all other factors. When he's not.... suddenly all the other holes on both sides of the ball seem to double in size.

Starting to think they maybe should have let Higgins walk and spent that money and the line though tbh; but that's assuming they would have actually funneled the money that way.

Regardless, bummer for my SF league I own Burrow in. 2023 injury didn't burn me as bad as I was still just wrapping up a rebuild. But this year was supposed to be a return the championship I lost last year. Now I have to worry about even making the playoffs. Purdy, TLaw, and Rodgers are my other QBs *insert MJ crying meme here*

I would have let Higgins go, honestly, and devote more assets to the O-line.

I was screaming it. But IMO Burton being a bust kind of forced their hand. That and Iosivas being unlikely to take over.

That said, there are plenty of competent WR they could have singed as a stop-gap. Keenan Allen was out there along with Kirk at the time.

They definitely should have invested in the OL instead.

I have 1 share in SF dynasty - in a start-up I just did. Where I picked 1.04, and mentally wrestled over the “chase vs Burrow” decision for over an hour before taking Burrow. 6 pt PaTD & -2 Ints - in all my other SF Leagues I cobble together a QB room, and it felt like locking up a QB1 for the next decade+ was a sharp move. I chose poorly. I went Burrow ~> BTJ. Shoulda gone Chase ~> Nix.
:wall:

Fortunately I also spent a 28th round pick on Browning, but that’s less than ideal.

Yeah BTJ has been a major burning sensation in my pee through two weeks as well. And it's not giving the "this will get better soon" vibes I want from a guy I spent an early 2nd on across multiple leagues. Never one to give up two weeks into the season; but between him and my QB choices this year getting hurt/stinking, this may be the fastest the fantasy gods have ever crushed my dreams yet haha. Here's to Mac Jones and Egbuka carrying me to the playoffs :ROFLMAO:

Odds are they will be out of it week 15/16 when he may be able to comeback. He'll either not be ready or shut down if ready. Yes, they are 2-0 but they'll most likely be 2-4 in 25 days

Browning looked pretty competent/capable last year. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them go .500 without Burrow. Tough division though.
