QB Josh Allen, BUF (1 Viewer)

1) Buffalo is extremely conservative with injuries. So if he plays, I’d say that there is probably an extremely small risk of further injury
2) McDermott has a tell: Day to day means that there is an actual real possibility the guy could play. Week to week means no way and it’s a longer term injury

I'd give it way less than 50/50 odds he plays this week. They probably don't want the Vikings to game plan as though he won't be behind center.
I am sure I am missing something, but why cant they just say "ya he is good...probable to play" then at gametime "oops, he couldnt go"

What is the penalty for just lying on the injury report?
30 lashes with a wet noodle

I say take a week or two to let it fully heal, even if it's mild. Trade a loss or two now for wins that count for a lot more later. This is his throwing arm we are talking about here.
The problem is they already lost to both NY & MIA who are breathing down their neck and facing a 7-1 team this week.
That's one problem but the other is that Josh Allen has a sprained elbow.
The Bills competition is not the issue, they're pretty much as good or better than anyone.
You know what I'm saying?

Buffalo needs to be smart about it and think 2-3 weeks down the road and I'm sure they are.
Buffalo can wax Miami in orchard Park, that's pretty much been the outcome for several years now.
I think Buffalo will return the favor to the Jets next time as well.

There's only one focus right now for the Bills and that's the health of Josh Allen IMHO

The injury didn't look good and, if it is what is speculated, he's out probably for the season, IMO.
Let's not rush to judgement, I have not heard anything like that and I'm not saying it's impossible but I think we might have heard something by now if he was done for the year.
Bills lost to Miami and the Jets by like a FG, let's not push them into the ocean just yet.

Not mad at your post, just think it's a little premature to be thinking that

I agree. But the big concern has to be how quiet the Bills are being. That's usually not a good sign.

My guess is he plays if three things prove true:
- normal throwing motions will not worsen the injury
- they deem the play that caused the injury is unlikely to re-occur and/or will not worsen the injury; and
- Whatever % effective he can be, it's significantly better than 100% of Keenum.

I think that shows gamesmanship on their part, you got a seasoned coach at this point, no reason to tip their hand if Allen can really play or not. Maybe they really don't know until Sat and they lighten up his number of throws on Sunday? Just him being under center even if he is not throwing it 50x, has a big impact on the Bills being victorious.

small chance of re-injury -
if he doesn't throw or run or get hit

No one played gamesmanship with the injury report like hoodie.

Mistake if he plays through it in my opinion, but it's his risk to take.
Teams 'seem' to take chances in bringing back injured players too-soon so...
I'd expect him back unless it is far more serious than they are letting on.
The Bills don’t tend to rush players back. I’d bet good money they are more conservative on injuries than the average NFL team. If Allen plays next week vs. Cleveland they probably believe he’s 80% and can get healthy while playing limited.

Vegas odds seem to indicate Allen is not playing. Dropped from -6.5 to -3.5.
pretty surprising the Bills with Case Keenum are still favored against 7-1 Vikings
Defense is still good and it's in Buffalo. Might move more by Sunday

Defense is banged up very bad. From all accounts Milano is healthy and probably should have played last week. Mcdermott conservative nature cost them a game.

Missing Milano, Poyer, Hyde, Rousseau, Tre White is still 5/11 starters. Others have been limited. Hopefully they get 1 or 2 back this week.

Should I start Mariotta tonight vs Carolina or roll the dice with whoever the Bills decide to roll with on Sunday (I picked up Keenum once Josh got hurt)

His avg is mostly around 20 in my leagues, sometimes it's 15, he hit 30 once and last week he was a disappointment.

31 vs Carolina about 2 weeks ago, maybe it's best to just take the 20-25 and move on. Rest of roster and what you are going up against would have a lot to do with rolling the dic on Buffalo this Sunday plus they play the Vikes, is Allen set to put up 35-40 vs them with an injury?

Next week you re-evaluate. If you have Josh Allen as your QB, odds are high you have a winning record.

Josh missed second day of practice with video of his wrapped elbow as Case Keenum gets first team reps in preparation for Sunday's game against the Vikings.

Here's a look at Josh Allen's right elbow as he walks off practice field Thursday.
#Bills QB didn't practice for 2nd straight day.

Guy in my league drafted Allen and Mahomes and he just OFFICIALLY put Allen on the trade block. Do we expect Allen to come back after this week off and be his old self, or is this a legit season altering injury?

I think he'll be his old self sooner rather than later if you can buy low. I definitely would take the shot.

NFL insider Josina Anderson reports Josh Allen (elbow) is "scheduled" to practice Friday.

A source told Anderson Allen would "see what he can do" with an injured elbow that could affect his grip on the football and the range of motion with his throwing arm. Allen has not practiced this week. Bills head coach Sean McDermott said the QB is "hour by hour" as the team heads into its Week 10 game against the Vikings. Fantasy managers should know by Friday evening whether Allen has a shot to suit up against Minnesota. If he plays, Allen drafters should continue deploying him as their quarterback.

He wasnt seen at the media portion of practice. He aint playing.

Limited today, questionable for Sunday. I bet he plays, lets GOOOOOOOOOOOO

Here is Josh Allen at the end of #Bills practice today. No brace or sleeve seen on right elbow, but appears to be taped. Once he notices media inside the team's fieldhouse, Allen runs off to locker room.

Josh Allen (elbow) is questionable for Week 10 against the Vikings.

Allen officially got in a limited session on Friday, one that media caught him in and that he ran out of after he was alerted to cameras being out there. He had no brace or sleeve in that brief bit of video, but the injured area was taped. Sean McDermott's declaration of "hour to hour" has seemed the most honest of all the descriptions so far. We doubt the Bills would let Allen play if they were concerned about his long-term health. Case Keenum would draw the start and be a QB2 consideration if Buffalo rules out Allen in the next two days.

He’ll be ruled out today, just a matter of when they make the announcement.
Why? Maybe they keep the Vikings in the guessing?
They have to call up Barkley from the PS by 4:00 ET.

Anyone know if there was any movement on this front?
Sorry, I meant 4:00 PM today (Saturday). Nothing has happened yet.

FWIW, I will be pretty surprised if Allen plays. McDermott has been talking about Allen the way he typically talks about guys who are going to miss a couple of weeks. (Just my reading of the tea leaves as a fan -- I would never encourage anyone to make any roster decisions based on my intuition.)

If you read anything about Carson Palmer suffering the same injury it will make you start queezy.

Palmer was about 60-70% torn let us pray Allen isn't that.

Allen himself had the same injury in 2018. He's fine.

My gut tells me the same thing, but in all honesty, we don't have any idea how bad this injury is. It could be very minor, and they are just saving the reps on the arm this week. (Is missing a few days practice really a big deal?) Or, on the other hand, it could be fairly major and they know he's out and they are sand-bagging and just hoping to see some improvement over the next few weeks before putting him on IR.

If I had Allen, I don’t think I could start him if he played if I had a capable backup.
Unless you have mahomes or hurts as a backup you're starting him.
Fields, Brady, Kyler, etc.... all these guys I'd start over Josh this week.
Maybe fields. Brady has been awful. Murray has also been horrible and is a GTD with a hammy
And this is also unrealistic. Not many people with Allen have a good backup. Fields is plausible since he was a ww pickup a few weeks ago.
