MAC JONES QB, NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS
The Athletic's Jeff Howe reports Patriots coaches are "ecstatic" about Mac Jones' offseason dedication.
Howe said Jones, entering his second season under center for New England, "has spent long hours at Gillette Stadium, often beating the coaching staff into the building to get a jump-start on film study for the day." Jones, per Howe, is "taking ownership of the offense, willing to vouch for plays and concepts that he likes and pump the brakes on the stuff that hasn’t worked." It's nothing but good vibes coming out of Patriots camp about what could be their long-term Tom Brady replacement, though failed Giants head coach Joe Judge working with the team's quarterbacks might raise questions about the team's nurturing of Jones. He proved a capable caretaker of the Pats' run-first offense in 2021, finishing his rookie year with the league's eighth highest completion rate over expected. Jones in 2022 will continue as a floor option for fantasy purposes. He was QB19 in 2021.
