QB Mac Jones, SF (2 Viewers)

Looked mediocre the last two games. Book has always been pressure mac and he will crumble...and he has. Comp=Geno smith

While the numbers may not be pretty, he played pretty well the past two games. PFF graded him at 69.2 vs the Bucs, which was sixth highest on the SF offense. Against the Falcons, they had him at 75.9.

I do think we need to start monitoring the INTs though, as he had issues with that in NE.

I do fear the more he plays, the more he’ll be exposed. But as long as he can dump it off to CMC for chunks he’s gonna have a decent line.

I am glad he’s cooled off a little to quiet down the “what happens when Purdy comes back?” talk. But after the last couple of games I don’t see any controversy. Purdy is mobile and scrambles - extends plays in ways Mac can’t.

That said I’m happy Mac is capable of piloting the ship while Purdy’s out.

Purdy is cooked this season, even he knows it. The real reason why the 49ers are 5-2 are Saleh and Jones. That's it. This is a team in transition. To where Robert Saleh could be the next 49er HC because of all the money Mama York has to pay for Shanahan and Lynch's mismanagement of the roster when it comes to paying for older talent that is on IR now, while Saleh having the draft war room in the first few rounds of the draft is already having an impact on defense.

Jones is like what we saw during Alex Smith's first season with Jim Harbaugh. Where you can win a game posting a donut hole in TD passes by letting Frank Gore and Patrick Willis with a stud TE in Vernon Davis blocking and a meh to a** WR corp.

But, but...

The NFCW is not the cakewalk it was in 2011. Again, the real reason why the 49ers are 5-2 is not due to the QBs or even CMC,

It's because of Robert Saleh, Mac Jones, and Kyle Shanahan with his Temu Kirk Cousins in Mac Jpnes.

I’m still holding out hope that Purdy can return in a couple of weeks.

hes done Just enough to win most of his games.

I guess that's all you can expect from a backup QB. I dont think hes done enough to unseat Purdy. Not yet anyways.

but hey, hes won more games than he has lost. Most backups cannot accomplish that. even on some very good teams.

I think his contract extension was a huge mistake, and if he does come back, not only will his turf toe that has already made him a worse QB than he was in the latter half of last season tossing INTs, but his lack of arm strength with no Deebo, Aiyuk, or "The Avengers" at full capacity means that the field is going to be limited to outside the numbers for he to throw into without a potential INT, and anyone outside of David Lombardi who is the Karine Jean-Pierre of a 49er journo that Jed funds to gaslight the fan base using junk EPA - that even Check the Mic says those journos get wrong - will not be the 49er QB in for the next 4 years. The 49ers have way too much money invested into players that can't stay healthy because they are older, and despite the 49ers being 5-2 have yet to put up over 24 points of offense and have been saved by Saleh, Mac Jones, and a kicker they pulled off the street because Kyle Shanahan blew a 3rd round pick on one.

Fortunately for the 49ers and this is a real tell when it comes to Purdy's contract: they are really only committed to him for the next two years. With this season maybe a wash because he is limited and can't stay healthy. He's a tiny QB too.

I'm just saying by the nature of his contract with the out clause that the 49ers were willing to give him the money predicated on value per dollar in respect that Shanahan would have to have Slaeh as DC along with it via Jed paying Saleh to now there are 5-2 despite Brock Purdy who is more responsible for they losing down the stretch last season on a IR team that is equal this current IR team and missed the playoffs due to Brock Purdy...

Even Karine Jean-Pierre can;t gaslight us on turf toe.

Just curious who these old players are that you refer to? CMC, Trent Williams, and Kittle? I'll give you CMC, he's old for a RB and they shouldn't have paid him what they did. They should have plugged in another capable RB for pennies on the dollar. Trent Williams, while old, is still one of the best LTs in the league and his contract is done after 2026. Kittle is 32...old-ish for a TE. Should be able to get another 4+ solid years out of him. Other than that, Aiyuk is 27 (prime for WRs), and Purdy is 25. Agreed that they just can't stay healthy. That's just crap luck and I have mentioned it seems like the 49ers are cursed with all these catastrophic injuries they have to key players. I also agree having Saleh back has been a boon for the defense. And I think Jacksonville should have kept Mac as their starter and jettisoned Trevor. If they could just get healthy they could be a SB contender...that is why they paid all those guys. Just cursed.

I've always liked Mac Jones and if he wants to move on after his deal is done with SF he could make A LOT of money. I do believe, like almost all QBs, he needs a good system and WRs.

Right now he has a good system but has no one to work with. Kittle has been out so long Mac hadn't really had time to rep with him. Even Jennings is banged up with knee and busted ribs.

CMC is carrying this team on offense right now. It would be nice if Pearsall and Aiyuk and Jennings were all healthy - I think we could see good things from both Jones or Purdy who ever is QB.

49ers QB Mac Jones will start again Sunday vs. the Giants.
I legitimately think Brock will be back next week.

And boy does my dynasty team need him. Mac has filled in admirably and been okay for fantasy, but he doesn’t offer the same floor nor ceiling.
I prefer Purdy as well, but we may be saying he will be back next week, every week. Turf toe isn't something that magically gets better. Only time helps and any activity before it's healed could make it worse. That's a fact we have to live with.

FBG projections have Mac over the likes of Flacco and Darnold. Find this hard to believe although the matchup is there. Hasn't been that great since he connected with Bourne that first game for like 10 catches.

I keep seeing this as well. My opponent is starting Jennings and Kittle, and I’m close to picking him up to start possibly.

Rams’ secondary isn’t great if they can protect him.

I’m starting him over other WW options (Fields, Penix, McCarthy) with Mahomes on bye.
