Really would have been nice to know this sooner. If he’s out tomorrow I’m screwed- very limited selection left on waivers

ETA: he’s played 136 games in a row so hopefully he can go. Of course if he’s really hurt prob better he sits in long run

The real problem is how long will he last? QB with a bad back on the road against a stout defense. He is bound to take a some shots. He could end up leaving the game and this is a bad time of the year to have a QB leave in the first half. I would say it's a pretty risky play. You might be better off going with Fitzmagic off the waiver wire or a last second trade for someone though you most likely overpay this late depending on the intelligence of your league and your teams situation. The point being I would make other plans quickly.

2 qb league and waivers already ran. So options are beyond fitzmagic unfortunately

Yeah don't know how you play until those bones are healed.

DET offense could be complete junk now. Big hits to Golladay and M. Jones. RB mess, if it wasn't completely worthless before, sure is now.

I need to start one of Golladay or Jones. Leaning Golladay, but not expecting much. Does Driscoll have a big arm?

Lions’ QB Matthew Stafford has fractured bones in his back, per sources. He now is considered week to week with an injury that one source said could sideline him for "this week or 3 weeks."

He was 4th in my league overall at QB last I checked, that's likely not his PPG avg

Owned in almost 100% of leagues but the owner in mine had Wentz on a bye, roster limits, and Stafford is now on the waiver wire...

Coach Matt Patricia said Matthew Stafford (back) is "truly day by day, week to week."

Patricia isn't known for giving away too many injury details. Still, Stafford does appear to be dealing with a potential multi-week injury after missing his first game since 2010. Jeff Driskel will continue to start under center if Stafford remains sidelined. The former 2016 sixth-round pick wasn't perfect against the Bears, but he did show the ability to create off script along with a willingness to test the defense downfield. Another tough matchup against the Cowboys awaits in Week 11.

Updating a previous item, Matthew Stafford (back) is not practicing Wednesday.

Lions beat writers assumed Stafford would be out there after coach Matt Patricia didn't list him with the injured players in his pre-practice media session, but the writers were wrong. Stafford merely observed practice off to the side as Jeff Driskel took the first-team reps. Stafford remains 50-50 for Week 11 against the Cowboys.

Matthew Stafford (back) remained sidelined at Thursday's practice.

Still feeling the effects of a fractured back, Stafford appears headed for his second straight absence following a streak of 136 consecutive starts. Jeff Driskel is obviously a downgrade from Stafford, though he didn't embarrass himself in a spot start last week, slinging a 47-yard touchdown pass to Kenny Golladay while also showing some mobility with a team-leading 37 rushing yards in a loss to Chicago. Still, Driskel is little more than a last-gasp QB2 for fantasy purposes.

Feel like if he was hurt enough to miss one game seems decent chance he'll miss at least one more. Plus a long shot for Detroit to make the playoffs anyway. As a dynasty owner I'd just as soon have him sit, although I could use him this week.

 
Lions coach Matt Patricia confirmed Matthew Stafford (back) won't play Week 11 against the Cowboys.

It will be his second straight absence. Stafford remains week to week with fractured vertebrae in his back. Jeff Driskel will be under center for his seventh career start Sunday against Dallas. He's a capable backup and significantly more mobile than Stafford, though his presence is still a downgrade for all Detroit pass-catchers.

I have Wentz and after this week vs NE the schedule gets soft.  Is Stafford a hold for you who are playoff bound and have a capable alternative?

I'm in a 2-QB league that penalizes for sacks/Ints and have ridden Stafford most of the season...I'm going to hang onto him for Wk 15 (vs. Tampa) but he faces CHI/MIN/DEN on either side of that so will likely be on my bench for Brady/Foles/FitzMagic who have much easier schedules.

 
Stafford filled in admirable while Mahomes was out for our team. Mahomes gets a bye in week 12 and now will either use Stafford if he's ready @ WAS, or scour around for a Foles or Brissett or Daniel Jones?

Basically, bump on Staffords outlook in the immediate future. Does is play in week 12? Does he play well? He's been money prior to the back fractures.

(RotoWire) The fractured bones in Stafford's back may be a six-week injury, Adam Schefter reports. Analysis: That's not to say Stafford will sit out Sunday, plus the Lions' next four games, to reach the aforementioned threshold. Instead, he appears to be dealing with a fairly severe health concern. his return timetable has been unclear since the team discovered the broken bones in his back one day prior to his absence Week 10 at Chicago, ending his starting streak at 136 games. As long as Stafford is sidelined, Jeff Driskel will direct Detroit's offense.

Backup QB Jeff Driskel has performed admirably in Stafford's absence, particularly against the Cowboys in Week 11. Overall, Driskel completed 15-of-26 passes for 209 yards and a pair of scores through the air while adding an additional 51 yards and another touchdown on the ground after having a whole week to work with the starting offense. Stafford will flirt with mid-tier QB1 potential if active Sunday against the Redskins, but don't sleep on Driskel providing upside QB2 value thanks to his rushing ability.

Patricia said the Lions are "going to keep that door open" for Stafford to return "out of respect for Matthew and his competitiveness." The Lions placed Jeff Driskel (hamstring) on the injured reserve already, so it'd be borderline shocking to see Stafford play another snap this season. The Lions are 3-8-1, although they've remained competitive and have only one loss by multiple scores. David Blough is expected to once again be under center in Week 14 against the Vikings.

Lions placed QB Matthew Stafford on injured reserve with a back injury, ending his seaosn.

The Lions waited six weeks for Stafford's fractured back to get better, but he never got to a point where he could suit back up. Perhaps things would be different were the Lions' season not long over. Playing in his age-31 campaign, Stafford was well on his way toward a career year before the injury took hold. The missed games were his first since 2010. The Lions have run two radically different systems through the first two years of Matt Patricia's leadership, but we would expect this season's more explosive edition to be the 2020 approach. Two months shy of his 32nd birthday, Stafford is signed through 2022.

Matthew Stafford (back) expects to be ready for the offseason program.

Stafford missed the final eight games, but the Lions held out hope he would return before sending him to IR in Week 16. It's not a surprise he'll be ready for OTAs. Stafford is owed $21.3M is salary and bonuses next season. He's signed through 2022.

Well only thing is the chance to draft someone like Tua doesn't happen every year. Not saying they do it - I'm actually a Stafford supporter - but think it at least has to be considered.  Suppose it's possible they draft Tua and play Stafford for a year. Would be kind a crappy situation for Stafford to be in though, and not sure Detroit would do that.
