QB Michael Penix Jr., ATL (3 Viewers)

His medical profile should have moved him out of the first round. I don't know what Atlanta was thinking with that pick.
Quite the rollercoaster pick. Most were baffled by it when they just hugely overpaid Cousins, then when Cousins flopped, many touted the pick and continued doing so when he played reasonably well down the stretch last year and were optimistic this year. I guess the truth is somewhere in between, but more so of a reach.

Hard to say his injury history plays into it though because guys get hurt all the time - even those with clean histories.

Honestly I could make an easy list of reasons why he should never have been picked as high as he did and I'd not have injury history as the top of why it was such a bad pick, but it would be on the list.

If Arthur Blank is halfway awake I can't see a scenario where the front office or coaching staff is back ,even if svengali Rich McKay is whispering in his ear. Between the money and draft picks spent on Cousins/Penix and the first round pick they sent to the Rams looking like a top 5 overall pick these type of boneheaded decisions can't be tolerated.

How was he a bad pick at 8? He replaced the expensive veteran starter. 170 yards passing early in the game before injury. Promising play prior to this last game. Are you saying any player other than Penix doesn’t injure their knee on the same play?

He just got done with about a season's worth of experience.

That's a pretty good start and maybe onto a pretty good career in the least.

Don't let memories of Vick and Ryan spoil ya Falcons fans. He did better than most rookies do. Ya gotta see what year "two" is like
