he's actually very very good at the spontaneous curl down into the fetal position hook slide. They should pick up a third QB pronto. I don't see how Glennon stays healthy with the lack of protection.

Why was there such a push from the new regime to move on from Glennon? He was a 3rd round pick, not exactly a flyer... management usually thinks a 3rd rounder could be an eventual starter.Quez said:It's not like McCown was expensive. We missed on a stop gap QB. Big deal. I thought Glennon looked a tad better but it's not like we are 3-0 with him as our starter.
They probably thought Mccown was better right now and they thought they could make the playoffs. Both of those ideas are probably out the window at this point, so might as well give Glennon a shot now so they can address their QB needs in the next draft if they need to.Why was there such a push from the new regime to move on from Glennon? Terrelle Pryor - QB - Free Agent
The Buccaneers tried out free agent QB Terrelle Pryor on Monday.
Josh McCown may need surgery on his right (throwing) thumb, and the only other quarterback on Tampa Bay's current roster is Mike Glennon. A deficient thrower but dangerous athlete, Pryor is the complete inverse of Glennon.

Pretty spot on. They want to run the Tampa 2 but they get zero pass rush so scrub QBs are picking the zone apart with easy throws and good QBs like Matt Ryan torch them at all levels of the field. The team has no identity. They want to be a dominant defense and run-focused offense, but to do that you need an offensive line and they don't have one. Maybe it's injuries, but with the on-paper talent they have at all three levels of the defense, there's no reason they should be at the bottom of the league. New regime, so maybe they get a pass this year, but it's not looking good so far.
They need someone to backup Glennon with McCown out. This franchise is dumb enough to set themselves back years by bringing garbage like Pryor.
I'm willing to cut them some slack due to injuries to the Dline. We all know the scheme starts with pressure, and we had McCoy, brought in Michael Johnson, & McDonald. This was enough for a solid pass rush IMO, but injuries have taken toll. Like I said, losing McCoy is equivalent to the Colts losing Manning.Pretty spot on. Defenses don't fear the passing game even after they signed/drafted all of these huge receiving targets because they don't throw the ball to them and can't complete it when they do. Or they want to be a power running team, but traded away Zuttah, released Penn and Joseph, and then passed on guard talent in the 3rd round to reach for another RB which was probably the deepest position on the team.
Just another example of a stubborn coach trying to fit the players to his scheme instead of fitting the scheme around the talent available.
No mention of the "spontaneous curl down into the fetal position hook slide"?Some people are thinking Mike Glennon in and Josh McCown out is an upgrade. But the only thing Glennon brings is his ability to stay upright.
It was crazy that they didn't use any early picks on O-line IMO, but maybe they didn't love any of the 2nd-4th prospects?Brutal. I'd say it's time to blow the team and coaching staff up, but I they already overhauled the team last year. Gotta rebuild the lines in the offseason next year. #1 priority imo. Yes, if we could get an uberstud QB of the future, that would be great, but who's gonna block for him?
You know this is the Bucs we're discussing right? This franchise is dumb enough to set themselves back years by bringing garbage like Pryor.

He certainly has some weapons in VJax, Evans, ASJ (hurt currently), Martin (hurt currently), Rainey, Simms (hurt currently).
What's the future hold?
Third year in a row the season is over before September ends. Awful franchise. Even most teams give their fans hope into November.I'd rather have Mariota. Kind of depressing to already be talking about this. Again.
Where does the fault lie, primarily? Coach has turned over, GM has turned over, players have turned over. Ownership?Third year in a row the season is over before September ends. Awful franchise. Mike Glennon - QB - Buccaneers
Coach Lovie Smith said "there is a good chance" Mike Glennon will start this week against the Steelers.
In other words, Glennon will make the start. Josh McCown (thumb) didn't practice Wednesday. Mike Kafka is expected to be Glennon's backup. We'd expect the Bucs to try and pound Doug Martin and Bobby Rainey on the ground against a banged-up Steelers defense, especially in a road game. Glennon is a back-end QB2. There's a chance he's going to make multiple starts for Tampa.

Didn't Lovie say Glennon was the "QB of the future." McCown shouldn't start another game for this team.Faust said:Rotoworld:

Oh. I know. It was kind of tongue in cheek. Still, McCown shouldn't start again.I wouldn't buy too much into anything Lovie says. Most of what he says is bs coach speak. Remember his Revis comments?

Mike Glennon - QB - Buccaneers
The Tampa Bay Times expects the Bucs to let Mike Glennon play out the final 13 games.
Josh McCown (thumb) is week to week, and isn't going to get his starting job back when healthy, barring a faceplant by Glennon. A 35-year-old journeyman, McCown has proven to be a product of Marc Trestman's system, while 24-year-old Glennon played well enough as a rookie last season to get an extended look. Glennon is on the QB2 radar in a matchup with a Steelers defense that's allowed five passing touchdowns through three games.

How is that in his defense??bucsbaby said:In McCown's defense, he goes from Marshall, Jeffery, Forte, and a decent oline, to pretty much the opposite of that in TB.
What I'm saying is that, yes, a QB is going to perform better when the skill position players and offensive line are talented. Add to that the offensive playcalling and scheme were much stronger in Chicago. No one is ever going to mistake McCown for Peyton, but he would perform better if there was more talent in TB. I didn't think I was saying anything controversial"In McCown's defense, his stats were inflated by the fact that he was surrounded by Pro Bowl talent in Chicago..."
Update?Premier said:Aaaaaaand the last 3 passes of that drive are why people don't like Glennon.

Does he play defense too?I think the bucs would be 2-2 with glennon... And the falcon loss would not of been a blow out
He would of sustained a few drives... no way the Bucs were ever going to win that game, but give the bucs a few sustained drives with a few points... might of been a 14-21 point loss rather than a 40+ embarassment. I guess bottom line its a loss if its 1 point of 50 points, so it doesnt matter really... just reallllly was disappointed by how the bucs played last week,Does he play defense too?I think the bucs would be 2-2 with glennon... Maybe he could've slowed the clock out with a few drives but the Falcons were putting up 40 last week.
