QB Patrick Mahomes II, KC (5 Viewers)

Denver’s defense is good enough to start Davis Mills over Patrick Mahomes? Gutsy call, brother.

Not positive I'm starting Mills, but Tennessee is the worst team in professional football and per Faust and my own experience, Mahomes vs. Denver is as bad as Faust's tweet below. The numbers stink over 6 years. This is a 6 pt. passing TD league. Mahomes has scored in Weeks 1-17 (there are two missing Week 18s, one he rested for):

Joseph as DC: 18.54, 19.34, 5.60 = 14.5 pts. average

Hackett year: 31.52, 25.78 = 28.5 pts. but that was the Hackett quit year

Fangio as coach: 12.56, 14.00, 21.32, 9.24, 26.70 = 16.74 pts. average

Faust's Tweet:

Zac Stevens
Vance Joseph has had TONS of success against Patrick Mahomes since he became the Broncos' DC in 2023.

Mahomes in three games vs VJ as DC:

—812 yards (271 yards/game)
—2 passing TDs (0.67 TDs/game)
—3 INTs (1 INT/game)
—9 sacks (3 sacks/game)

Averaged 14.7 points/game 🤯

Mahomes made a few bad throws (both picks, the first of which was called back, were horrendous decisions), but it's time people face facts that Worthy and Rice are not major difference makers. Worthy is averaging 36 receiving yards a game and 10.7 yards per reception, the latter of which is insanely low for a guy with Worthy's speed. They are force feeding Rice the ball - 26 catches in 4 games - but only 9.7 YPR and 63 receiving yards per game. That is simply not good enough from the guys who are supposed to be their WRs 1 and 2.

I'm planning on still being alive for week 17 and this guy has Denver again. Albeit at home. Anyone thinking ahead on who they may want to target for that week if we manage to get that far?

Patrick Mahomes acknowledged he needs to be better for his receivers:

"Yeah, l'm just not making the throws.
That's the biggest thing. I need to be better at giving guys chances."

This is the 3rd regular season in a row where we keep hearing about how Mahomes isn't playing as well as normal, how he needs to better, etc. At some point, maybe everyone just needs to accept that, while still very good, he is not the all-world QB that he was for from '18-'22.

He’s #3 scoring QB in our league.

Patrick Mahomes - week 13
23/34 = 67.6 completion percentage, 7.7 yards per attempt, 261 yards, 4 Touchdowns, 0 interceptions, 3 carries, 30 yards rushing. Includes amazing play avoiding the rush, rolling out, falling forward and throwing and completing a deep pass at a critical time in the game. I hope everyone was watching.

Romo has been harping for the last two games that Mahomes is going through his reads too fast and not letting plays develop. I also remember them flashing a stat earlier this year that he was getting the ball out significantly faster this year than he ever has before. Have to think that is due to the poor o'line play the last few years and his receivers constantly being injured and/or not very good. Maybe not "happy feet" like a shell-shocked rookie but whatever the equivalent is for a highly functioning QB.

Greatest in the game, by far.
