I'm on board - had him as a backup to Brees specifically for Week 6 against Dallas. Now I am trying to trade Brees and run Wilson as my QB for the rest of the year.
that you feel the need to bump this and perpetuate the argument every time wilson has a good game is pretty compelling proof that he isnt on brees' level. i mean, you dont see brees supporters rushing to defend the guy every time he goes for 350+ and a couple tds.Regarding Brees, I agree he isn't better today. Wilson's first two seasons were better than Brees's first two seasons, by a large margin. I think that was the original point. But the first two seasons of a lot of non-HOF QBs were better than Brees's first two seasons, so that isn't very meaningful.Wilson is actually better than Brees.I love Wilson, but GTFO with the "better than Brees." Young Roethlisberger is the best comp IMO other than the size difference. Very efficient for a young player, a winner, but obviously not the main piece of his team or even on the offense. Drew Brees carries his team on his shoulders and shatters records, guy. Wilson is just one cog in the machine thus far in Seattle. Let's wait just a bit before we say he's better than a 1st ballot HOFer, mmmmkay? He's off to a great start, obviously, but he's nowhere near the Manning, Brady, Brees, Rodgers tier of current NFL QBs. He might get there eventually, but he might not and end up as an Aikman / Big Ben type -- not that there's any shame in that at all as that's HOF level in itself, but it's a giant step up from there to the "top few QBs ever," the guys re-writing the record books and carrying entire franchises on their backs to Lombardi trophies, where Brees ends up when it's all said and done.
Manning, Brady, Brees, Rodgers are all seasoned veterans. Wilson is 25. He has shown enough potential that he could ultimately belong in that tier. Even now, he is in the next tier, and arguably as good as anyone in that next tier. That is the argument for claiming he is a top 5 QB.
And over the next three years, Peyton, Brady, and Brees will either retire or almost certainly decline, while at the same time odds are that the Seattle defense and running game (Lynch) will decline. Wilson will be in his prime and IMO will be in that top tier within that window.
So to say he is "nowhere near" the top tier is overstating it IMO.Better today perhaps?

I have Wilson and Ryan in one league and am now trying to trade Ryan.I'm on board - had him as a backup to Brees specifically for Week 6 against Dallas. Now I am trying to trade Brees and run Wilson as my QB for the rest of the year.
I must use this comment in the future. Kudos max great choice of words. The mental gymnastics required to deny his excellence is truly pathetic.
Russell Wilson completed 23-of-36 passes for 313 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception in the Seahawks' 28-26, Week 7 loss to the Rams.
Wilson racked up an additional 106 yards and one touchdown on the ground. He sure didn't miss Percy Harvin, though we're sure there will be plenty of chatter on the topic this week after Seattle's loss. Frankly, the Rams got lucky and won it with their special teams by returning a punt 90 yards for a touchdown on some trickery before converting a fake punt deep in their own territory late in the fourth quarter. Wilson hooked up with his No. 1 receiver Doug Baldwin seven times for 123 yards and one score. He also found No. 3 TE Cooper Helfet for a score. Wilson will be back on the QB1 map in Carolina next week.

Only QB i have on roster which makes it a no brainer so yeah Wilson needs to be started every week.Jesus. I can't get this right. Had russell in all week and had to look at the projections from experts and everyone had cutler above him. Even 16th by Bloom. Keep sitting him on his big games... Must start everyweek now?
sounded like SEA was going to "back to basics", more Lynch with Harvin gone. More like the low passing volume Wilson. Obviously, STL jumping out to big lead and Wilson's newfound willingness to run often blew that upJesus. I can't get this right. +1, but at least it's an away game for Seattle. That should make it a little more competitive. I think his floor is 22-25 pts in my league. The Dallas game was an outlier because he had no passing TDs and every other game he's had 2.All of us owners better hope the wheels are indeed falling off. It's too bad CAR sucks because I'd very much like for them to make it a game.
Russell Wilson is first player in NFL history to have 300/100 gameWilson with the elusive double bonus in leagues that reward 300 yards passing and 100 yards rushing.
Thanks for the link. I could see this getting picked up and reported on more in the near future.
It's crazy to think that you can win a Super Bowl together and still have these "trust issues." I mean, both Wilson and Harvin played great in the Super Bowl to deliver a win. Why invent conflict when there is no need. It's just plain foolish.
It's also predictable. This is what Super Bowl teams do after winning. It's crazy to think that you can win a Super Bowl together and still have these "trust issues." Both his parents went to Ivy League schools and he went to VA private school....a lot different background probably than the guys questioning blackness. So stupid that these issues come up but I'm sure they do.Does it realky matter to black people if a black guy isnt "black enough"? Why must there be a standard "how to act" rule based on your skin colo?.

It doesn't have anything to do with skin color. It's the white media that inserted the word "race" in the headlines. If they would have said "primadonna" instead everyone would have understood exactly what they meant.Does it realky matter to black people if a black guy isnt "black enough"? Haven't read through this whole thread, but are you talking about Russell Wilson here? Wilson is pretty much one of the most thoughtful sports personalities that has come around in a long while. I guess if you define 'substance' as bull$#it dooshbaggary, then he does not really have much to offer. The explanation is "double standard".Does it realky matter to black people if a black guy isnt "black enough"? That article was all full of WTF to me.
He's too much like Jeter in that he smiles for the press but he gives them nothing of substance and they don't mind. Why would that be negative to other players? They get mad because the press makes mountains out of molehills. So they mad at Wilson because he doesn't give the press anything to blow up?
His entourage is made up of white guys? That's real serious stuff there. I don't think white guys can even be an entourage. But even if they can, are his teammates afraid his posse is going to roll up and kill the mood with their Polo shirts and Dockers?
As for not taking the heat for errant passes, is he out there in press conferences throwing people under the bus?
Seriously. WTF is that all about?
Have heard now that hes divorced he basically hangs with a prep school version of the show Entourage, sign me up.JamesTheScot said:The explanation is "double standard".rascal said:Does it realky matter to black people if a black guy isnt "black enough"? Harvins character? Is there such a thing?Air Stich said:THis

I agree that this is nothing more than a media driven controversy to generate ratings and attack Percy Harvin's character. The Seahawks Management put this out in response to accusations that they were completely FLEECED when they traded a 1st, 3rd, and 7th for Harvin just two years ago.
Agreed on this. He's definitely willing to carry the team and, as an owner, I'm looking forward to it.The only threat to Wilson's fantasy dominance is the Seattle D returning to elite status. I don't think that's likely.
I wouldn't say that CAR's offense sucks. Their D is the one that has fallen off. I think we should get a pretty good matchup here with some high scoring potential due to the defensive weakness on both teams. All of us owners better hope the wheels are indeed falling off. It's too bad CAR sucks because I'd very much like for them to make it a game.
People are like moths to a flame when it comes to kicking people when they are down. RW is a great qb. None of this controversy will change that. There was a year when the Packers didn't make the playoffs with Rodgers at the helm. That didn't make him any less of a great qb. The team just was not that good. That is easy to fix when you have a stud qb like RW. You guys will be fine once you get a chance to change the tires on the bus this offseason.I can't stand the media. This article that has an "unnamed," source is everywhere I look. You can't legitimately get any dirt on the guy, so you have to suck him into a fake controversy. The only talk about RW this week should be that he set an NFL record for first QB to throw for 300 and run for 100...yet crickets.

sorry hes put up 3 clunkers the last 4 weeks. I can't trust him anymoreHe's actually getting more passing attempts than usual (~35) but just not doing much with them. At least his floor is about 10-12 points because he doesn't turn the ball over and gets about 30 yards rushing. Unlike some comparable FF QBs who can put up a complete clunker because of their turnovers (Stafford, Newton, Foles, Rivers this weekend).

I guess kind of like the Brady owners who dropped him after the KC game?Might try to sell him to a Foles owner but may end up just dropping in 5-6 man bench leagues. He is still the #4 PPG QB even with the lackluster past 2 weeks.
Typically drafted Russell to cover Brees or Rodgers byes with 'dream' matchups at home vs. Dallas & Oakland. Well, he ended up putting up his 2 worst performances of the season. lol go figure.
I'm sure there were Brady owners saying the same thing a few weeks ago.sorry hes put up 3 clunkers the last 4 weeks. It's gotten bad. To the point that I just traded for Matt Ryan and plan to start him over Russel Wilson Week 10.
