Quote To Ponder - "Instinct or Intellect?" - 10/12/18 (1 Viewer)

What's your take on this quote?

It's from Tim Ferris' popular 5 Bullets Friday. He publishes a "quote I'm pondering".

“My great religion is a belief in the blood, the flesh, as being wiser than the intellect. We can go wrong in our minds. But what our blood feels and believes and says, is always true. The intellect is only a bit and a bridle. What do I care about knowledge. All I want is to answer to my blood, direct, without fribbling intervention of mind, or moral, or what not.”
— D. H. Lawrence

Many could do with a bit less boil in their blood and a bit more bridle from intellect.  Sadly, for many, they lack judgment and experience which are the reins for the bridle of intellect and without reins the bridle is not really all that useful.

A lot of our instincts are about preserving, perpetuating, or promoting our individual selves. Some of those instincts don't jive well with a civilization that thrives on cooperation and compromise.

One is not more wise than the other, nor is one more unwise.  Not saying each always contributes 50/50, but both work together to produce knowledge.  For me it's an unhelpful value judgement.
