Racist rancher,feds at a standoff.Drone strike looming! (1 Viewer)

Larry Pratt, president of Gun Owners of America

:lmao:

Speaking yesterday with far-right pundit Stan Solomon, Pratt saluted the armed militias for intimidating law enforcement officers to the point where “everybody came to realize that we can’t have another Waco, the people are prohibiting us from having another Waco.”

Solomon also lauded the rancher’s armed supporters and argued that during the 1993 standoff with the Branch Davidians “if it hadn’t been for the goodness of the Waco folks” then “there would have been thirty or forty dead” “federales.”

“What they were hoping obviously was that they could run tanks in like they did at Waco as a final, murderous act, but clearly that wasn’t going to be political possible in ‘Bunkerville,’” Pratt said. “It’s interesting, the country you could in a way say it got started at Bunker Hill and it got a new injection of life at Bunkerville, Nevada.”

Well at least the BLM didn't do any harm to the animals.................................

BLM: 2 bulls euthanized during Cliven Bundy cattle roundup

The only known shots fired in the grazing feud between Bunkerville rancher Cliven Bundy and the Bureau of Land Management came from federal agents or contractors who euthanized at least two bulls, Bundy’s son-in-law said Thursday.

That’s not counting other cattle that died of exhaustion and had to be put down, Bundy’s son-in-law Josh Logue said.

“There’s more dead that are dead through shot or … dehydration from running in the desert,” Logue said.

A BLM spokesman confirmed Thursday that two bulls had been killed during the agency’s weeklong roundup that ended Saturday with an armed standoff between supporters of rancher Cliven Bundy and federal agents.

The two bulls posed “a safety hazard,” said BLM spokesman Craig Leff, who didn’t elaborate on the circumstances.

The Bundy family has been critical of the agency’s roundup practices, saying it led to injured calves, slaughtered cows buried in holes and damaged water system equipment.

Bundy, for his part, criticized the work of the contracted out cowboys that did the work, pointing to the injuries and conditions as unprofessional.

“What kind of cowboy would treat animals like that?” Cliven Bundy asked Tuesday, as he showed a Review-Journal reporter around his ranch. “Only the contract cowboys low enough to work for the BLM.”

Bailey Bundy-Logue, 22, one of Bundy’s daughters, said the treatment of the cattle angered her.

“It was all wrong,” she said.

The BLM didn’t address the family’s claims of damage to the water troughs. The agency would not provide answers to questions about its next move after armed agents failed to enforce a court order that prompted the roundup.

State brand inspector officials did not respond to questions Thursday from the Review-Journal about whether there will be an investigation into the dead bulls. A deputy brand inspector from Las Vegas, however, said the bulls “might have got frightened but that’s no reason to shoot a bull.”

Occasionally they charge people and “sometimes they charge horseback riders,” said Don Bamberry, a deputy brand inspector the Nevada Department of Agriculture, who wasn’t at the scene.

Bamberry said it would “take a pretty good size weapon” to kill the special breed bulls that Bundy owns.

Bundy’s state brand certificate, which expires Dec. 31, 2015, is a “V over O” on the hip of his cattle.

Bamberry said in a typical cow-shooting situation, any violation would depend on if the animal had a brand.

“Was it somebody else’s property, which is worth a lot of money?” Bamberry said.

He said a bull that’s 4 or 5 years old would weigh between 1,200 to 1,500 pounds.

On the local market, a bull that size would be worth more than $2,500 based on the retail price of $4.29 per pound for a side of beef.

BLM officials have not said if the bulls that were euthanized had Bundy’s brand or any brand.

Bamberry described Bundy’s herd as “desert cattle,” and as a mixed-Brahman breed with “big ears” and fit for surviving in hot climates.

“They have a built-in hereditary trait. They don’t like people on their back. They make good broncin’ bulls. They’re a little ornery,” he said.

Bundy hasn’t paid federal grazing fees for the use of public land in 20 years. The BLM abruptly ended the roundup near Bundy’s ranch in Bunkerville, 80 miles northeast of Las Vegas on Saturday. The roundup was halted because of employee safety concerns. Federal agents released Bundy’s livestock after a brief standoff with protesters and armed militia members who rallied to support the rancher.

Government contracting records show the BLM inked a $966,000 contract in February for the roundup with Shayne Sampson of Sampson Livestock, based in Meadow, Utah.

It’s unclear how much money the company will get paid following the release of the cattle on Saturday to the Bundys. BLM officials didn’t respond to a request from the Review-Journal asking about the cost of the roundup. Before the roundup’s abrupt end after one week, officials had said the cost will be based on a variety of factors, including the duration of the roundup.

Shayne Sampson didn’t return a call for comment.

This thread is an interesting study in conspiracy theorists. It seems there are people who think the burden of proof is on the people who claim there isn't a conspiracy. Guessing that's how the 9/11 truthers and the birthers and the fake moon landing people and all the other nutjob ideas out there gain traction.

Also demonstrates the lengths some people will go to twist a simple case in which there's an obvious wrongdoer into a pile of nonsensical horse#### just so they can point fingers at politicians they don't like. That's far less fascinating and interesting. Just predictable and moronic.
don't you have a war for oil/haliburton rally to attend?
No, I don't think so. Why do you ask?

Not sure 'goodness' is the correct word, but the sentiment is true. Maybe 'fairness' or 'naiveté' would be more accurate.

Johnet Reno should be rotting in prison for what happened at Waco.

Bundy's 'ancestral rights' come under scrutiny

LAS VEGAS -- Federal authorities remain silent about their next plans to confront Cliven Bundy at his Bunkerville ranch.

Both sides are fighting over history, with federal courts denying Bundy's claims of "ancestral rights" on the Virgin River valley. The I-Team dug into century-old records to examine Bundy's claims.

At the Bunkerville camp next to Cliven Bundy's ranch, there are constant reminders of history.

Revolutionary War flags, ancient Greek mottos and native American symbols, all mixing together to create a growing identity and narrative for protestors.

This land is unusually fertile and green for southern Nevada. Cliven Bundy grows melons there. They are said to be the best in the state.

His cattle, until recently, roamed freely on land managed by the federal Bureau of Land Management. Before the roundup that sparked protests, confrontations and gunmen taking a bridge, Bundy explained his "ancestral rights" to the I-Team.

"I've lived my lifetime here. My forefathers have been up and down the Virgin Valley here ever since 1877. All these rights that I claim, have been created through pre-emptive rights and beneficial use of the forage and the water and the access and range improvements," Bundy said.

Clark County property records show Cliven Bundy's parents moved from Bundyville, Arizona and bought the 160 acre ranch in 1948 from Raoul and Ruth Leavitt.

Water rights were transferred too, but only to the ranch, not the federally managed land surrounding it. Court records show Bundy family cattle didn't start grazing on that land until 1954.

The Bureau of Land Management was created 1946, the same year Cliven was born.

"My rights are before the BLM even existed, but my rights are created by beneficial use. Beneficial use means we created the forage and the water from the time the very first pioneers come here," Bundy said.

Early census records show Cliven's maternal grandmother, Christena Jensen, was born in Nevada in 1901. One genealogical researcher says records indicate Jensen helped settle Bunkerville some years later.

One word spreading through Bundy supporters and his armed guards is that what the federal government is doing to Bundy is exactly what they did to native Americans.

"They are literally treating western United States citizens, ranchers, rural folks like this- are the modern day Indians. We're being driven off of our lands. We're being forced into reservations known as cities," Justin Giles, an Oathkeeper from Alaska, said.

The local Paiute Indians were forced into reservations by federal troops in 1875. Two years prior, the tribe was promised the same land Cliven Bundy now grows his melons ,and until recently, grazed his cattle.

The I-Team's research team has come up with an in-depth look at the genealogy and property records that form the basis of Cliven Bundy's claim of ancestral rights on the ranch land.

:lmao:

Amazing how many people fell for his crap.

It has been widely reported that Cliven Bundy’s family claims to have ranched in the Bunkerville area since the 1870s even though a federal judge held a different view of Bundy’s history.

Bundy repeated a similar claim Thursday when he told TheBlaze website: “My family has preemptive, adjudicated livestock water rights filed with the state of Nevada. They were established in 1877 when the first pioneers entered the valley. Among those first pioneers were my grandparents from my mother’s side. My father either bought or inherited his Nevada state livestock water rights and I, in turn, have done the same.”

Contrast that with the 1998 opinion from U.S. District Judge Johnnie Rawlinson in a case where it was determined Bundy wouldn’t be allowed to use federal land for his cattle because of failure to pay grazing fees to the Bureau of Land Management. Rawlinson wrote that it wasn’t until roughly 1954 that “Bundy or his father or both have grazed livestock on public lands owned by the United States and administered by the BLM.”

Clark County Recorder documents show the 160-acre Bunkerville ranch Bundy calls home was purchased by his parents, David and Bodel Bundy, from Raoul and Ruth Leavitt on Jan. 5, 1948. The purchase included the transfer to the Bundys of certain water rights, including water from the nearby Virgin River. Cliven Bundy was born in 1946.

I doubt the money and assets are in his name. He's pretty darn smart about not paying his bills.

This has to be the dumbest news story I've seen in years. The guy that said they were lining up women up front so if the "rogue federal agents" shot, all America would see is a bunch of dead women, pretty much sums up the crowd who supports this guy. Absolutely mind-numbing. :lmao:

“I want to tell you one more thing I know about the Negro,” the rancher began as he described a "government house" in Las Vegas where he recalled that all the people who sat outside seemed to "have nothing to do."

“And because they were basically on government subsidy, so now what do they do?” he said, as quoted by the Times. “They abort their young children, they put their young men in jail, because they never learned how to pick cotton. And I’ve often wondered, are they better off as slaves, picking cotton and having a family life and doing things, or are they better off under government subsidy? They didn’t get no more freedom. They got less freedom.”
Cliven Bundy. Right-wing hero.

Pretty sure this is also Harry Reid's fault somehow.

Without bringing up this bizarre Harry Reid bull####, is anyone in here behind this rancher?
Certainly not me and I started this thread.

My concern was how the BLM has handled this and with the killing of the cattle(6 now I believe is the latest report).

Last thing I want is another Waco and this wacko seems hell bent on making sure it happens as are the rest of the loons coming in to defend this.

Let the situation settle down and the nuts to leave and then take him in peacefully(my hope at least).

1. He clearly lacks an understanding of how much if an atrocity slavery was. Family life? Kids and wives were sold to others. Terribly uneducated thing to say

2. He also is not aware that most welfare recipients are white. I know that the MSM has sold a different caricature, but that's not reality

3. His observation that the social safety net structure and breakdown of the family has not served poor people well is correct.

What report? There have been a lot of wackball reports about this situation so some information there would help. Thanks.

Thank you. That sounds slightly differen than "the killing of the cattle".

The Bureau of Land Management now confirms that a total of six cattle died during the roundup of animals from federally managed lands being used by rancher Cliven Bundy.

According to the BLM, two Bundy branded animals, a bull and a cow, were euthanized. The bull because it posed a threat to employees during the gather. The cow because it injured its spine when it ran into a fence.

Two other unbranded animals were euthanized, while two more unbranded animals died.

These animals shouldn’t be killed either by the government, or by the rancher who plans to send the cows off to slaughter. The best thing anyone can do to stop the suffering of animals is to go vegan.http://www.peta.org/media/news-releases/peta-statement-re-cliven-bundy-standoff-federal-government/#ixzz2zoXv4y1W

Where was all the armed support and media support for Colvin in the 2006 case against BLM?

http://asci.uvm.edu/equine/law/cases/use/colvin.htm
I don't think anybody ever heard of this Colvin case until now....

one key difference is that the US govt didn't change the rules on him as they did in the Bundy case initiating the dispute/boycott.
One key difference is that Bush was president, and many of the people in the "government isn't to be trusted" now were in the "you're either with us or against us" camp then.

You're scraping to support Bundy here but you would have been against Colvin.

The Feds went from saying "you lost, pay up" but then looking the other way to saying "you lost, pay up" and not looking the other way. Totally different.
