Raiders audition Tommy Maddox (1 Viewer)

Unless they're planning to put Tommy on the O-line, they are missing the point.
I wouldn't be surprised if George and Maddox end up being the new starting guards. That franchise is right up there with Tennessee this year from the front office all the way down. Horrible to watch. Art Shell with that same facial expression. The OC that's preoccupied with checking the bottom line on his B&B. Wow... what a mess. :X

I can't even imagine Maddox behind that line. He'll be spending so much time in the fetal position, they're going to have to attach an umbilical cord to him instead of an IV.

Maddox was too soft to play successfully behind the Steelers' o-line, so what in God's name is he going to do with the Raiders?

The Patriots had Maddox in the other day, too.
They love the Steelers scraps....
We'll take as many Mike Vrabels as we can get. :bye:
...and Chad Scotts, and Chad Browns, and Hank Poteats and Charles Johnsons
One Mike Vrabel was worth the rest of the misses. :banned: Poteat actually helped us win a Super Bowl when most of the rest of our secondary was banged up in '04.

So thanks.

And Charles Johnson was a starter on the '01 SB36 team, so yeah thanks for that scrap too.

What's so horrible about this? The Raiders are desperate at this point so what's the harm in taking a look?
It's just not a good match. If your offensive line can't pass block, the last thing you want back there is a QB with feet made of concrete that folds at the first sign of the pocket breaking down. Maddox will get sacked 7 times a game if he ever plays for Oakland.

Then you won in spite of having a garbage receiver...

I'll admit that team looks completely lost. Not a move I feel is a great one but I'm not sure Maddox is a worse option than Walter.

That may be, but if you're a Raiders fan, wait until you see how frustrating it is having Maddox back there. The guy cannot or will not move around in the pocket to avoid the rush, and will not stand in and take the big hit in order to buy the receiver enough time to get open. He can deliver the ball pretty accurately if given all day to throw, but at the first sign of pressure, he folds up and goes to the ground. The first game Roethlisberger played, it was like night and day having a guy who can get out of trouble, give the receiver time to get open, and go down the field. That's why I used to argue so vehemently when people said that Roethlisberger was "just a game manager" or was "being carried by a great team." They weren't a great team with Maddox in there because he killed so many drives simply by not being able to get the ball away that the offense was neutralized, and the defense overworked as a parallel. It was no coincidence that Pittsburgh was about a .500 team with Maddox at QB, then became a team averaging 15 wins a year under Roethlisberger. The difference was Maddox and his inability to make plays. With a line that is playing as horribly as Oakland's is, this shortcoming will only be further exposed, and his problems exacerbated. It's a match made in hell.

CJ had a few good years with the Steelers. He didn't hav much left when he went to NE.

Not really sure what your point is... he did help us out. Is your point to look down on the Patriots for taking on Steeler "outcasts?"
