Rams Passing Game... (1 Viewer)

Bulger and Holt were off the charts for the first 9 weeks of the season(actually started a bit slow in weeks 1 - 2). Since that time, the Rams aerial game has been not only inept, but almost non-existent. Yes, Holt is getting double-teamed, but what WR#1 stud in the league isn't? You'd think that the way SJax has been running the ball recently, defenses would start putting 8 in the box, freeing up some of the passing game. But this hasn't materialized.

Bulger looks slightly off to me - he's missing open receivers with more frequency and doesn't seem to put the ball on the money like he's capable. I realize he's been a little banged up with the rib - could this be the source of the downturn? Additionally, Holt seems very frustrated and the other receivers (Bruce/Curtis) don't seem to be able to draw some of the double coverge off of him.

What should we expect the rest of the way? Besides a tough matchup vs CHI next week (although the Rams are at home) the rest of the schedule looks very decent from a passing standpoint (AZ, OAK, WAS, MIN). Do you think Bulger and Company fly high again before the season is out (say at least a top 7 passing game) or do you think Linehan, being no Mike Martz, continues to run the ball and have Bulger check down to SJax half of of the time?

I think most of us thought the loss of Pace would effect SJax more than Bulger, but it is the other way around!

I watched the last Rams game and the loss of Pace is being overblown. Bulger was protected well, he was just off. Torry Holt had his guys beat bad several times and Bulger missed it by just a smidge. Although Bulger did get hit a few times, he wasn't running for his life on every pass play. I think his rib injury is the culprit.

You're right - I saw last week's game vs. the Niners and Bulger just missed at least one if not two long TD's to Holt. He usually he makes those throws, so it could be his rib. Anyone know how long that type of injury takes to heal? I've got Leinert on my bench but I just can't pull the tirgger to sit Bulger. The week I do, he'll go off for sure...

That's a good question. Any doctors or all knowing fbg's in the house?

I'm no doctor, but rib injuries can be tricky since it could be a variety of ailments, but the injury feels like just the ribs. He could have cracked rib bones, strained rib muscles, bruised ribs, separated ribs, etc. Unless the Rams and Bulger fully disclose what type of injury he has and not just "sore ribs", then no one can know for sure how long the healing process is. At this point I would assume regardless of which injury it is, he will be bothered by it for the rest of the season. Ribs need time to heal and getting hit in the ribs on a week to week basis probably doesn't help the healing process.

I will be sitting Bulger vs the Bears in round 1 of playoffs. Hopefully he and my team survives for week 15.

I would say Bulger plays well until he gets hit again.

Hopefully tht wont be until late in the game.

:lmao: Reminds me of the classic Forest Gump scene: "boiled shrimp, fried shrimp, BBQ'd shrimp, broiled shrimo, shrimp gumbo, shrimp etouffee...."

lol, i was thinking along those lines as well. I was going to write after "I'm in the mood for some bbq ribs now"

Things have went down hill fast in STL...to lose bad to ARZ in the dome is a clear sign players have quit on this season....

Seems bulger is calling out in a round about way those guys and this week should be intersting....There play calling isnt the best still at this point in the season...

Watched Jackson not get the ball but once while it was at the 2yd line....he shold have had all 3 attempts...

Goofs....

I'm not impressed with Linehan so far. Should be having a much better season with all of that talent on the offense. They looked positively putrid yesterday - Bulger looked like a pinata at a Cinco de Mayo party. The team doesn't seem motivated or interested - especially the O-line, which ought to be ashamed with how they played. I feel bad for Bulger - he's getting rocked on just about every pass play. If it wasn't for that last TD pass from the 1 yardline, his numbers would have been very pedestrian once again.

This week will be interesting. With Bulger calling the team out, it will be telling to see what kind of coach Linehan is. If Linehan can use the situation to pull the team together going into next Monday night's game vs. CHI, Bulger & Co. have a chance to put up decent - not spectacular - numbers. If Linehan shrinks from the challenge, it's going to be a VERY UGLY scene at the Edward Jones Dome. I've got both Holt and Bulger in my lineup next weekend (gotta start your studs, right?) for the opening round of our playoffs. Definately not for the faint of heart....!

I will be praying for you man......that is tough as heck...Lucky for me PO are weeks 15-16...and I got bulger and jackson...jackson is a must...bulger might be on my bench then

i don't know that anyone should have expcected them to continue on at their early season pace with three OLine starters out.

injuries are a part of the game and you should have some sort of plan to replace starters and juggle the rest of the team, but in this age of free agency, it is pretty hard to go 8 deep let alone 5 deep on the OLine.

The next two weeks scare the crap out of me. I may sit him for Harringon, Brooks, or Derek Anderson. Can't do much worse that what I have now.

ive watched almost all the rams snaps this year as i have a ton of their skill players on my teams

the o-line should be shot, they are so bad it makes the raiders line look like world beaters, they get beat by every type of rush, bull rush, speed rush, rush hour traffic.. bulger has no time to get the ball out in anything more than a 3 step drop and i think a large part of jackson's success is because he is running for his life on most plays.

HORRIBLE O-LINE! can them all

I am hoping to pick up Garrard for the playoffs and will play him if Bulger and/or Vick struggle.

thank god I have a bye for the horrible Bulger matchup this week.

that being said, I could see some big-time garbage time points gettting racked up. If bulger survives with that horrible Oline

I'm hoping for GTP as well, although it's doubtful that the Rams will be that far behind a CHI team this weekend that has also been aweful on offense recently. BTW, Bulger went in for an MRI on his ribs today.

Yep. Last week, Holt was wide open TWICE for what would have been long TDs, and Bulger missed him by a mile. Bulger's hallmark is accuracy, so you'd have to think the ribs are an issue. Yesterday, Holt beat two Arizona defenders for what would have been a 70 or 80 yard TD, and Bulger put the ball right on the money. It bounced right off of Holt's hands. It was worse than T.O.'s drop against the Redskins four weeks ago.Maybe Holt was surprised that Bulger actually threw it on target, I dunno.... but Holt drops passes about as often as a fat chick passes up fudge. I was pretty shocked.

Hey Nation...that is the sickest NFL Ticket setup I have seen......Makes mine look like play school lol
