Rams red zone offense (1 Viewer)

I have only been able to watch one Rams game and, since I own practically their whole team in a combo of leagues, I am left wondering what is going on in the red zone and why they cannot score the touchdown. For those of who who have watched all their games, can you tell what it is? Is it Steven Jackson's lack of ability (he's been dogged on this before)? Bad push by the whole line? Horrible play calling? Pretty much it looks like the best they have in the red zone is Torry Holt but even Bulger-Holt isn't having ridiculous success in the red zone as they have had to kick so many field goals.

Is it merely bad luck or is it bad play? Is this something to expect to continue if you're a Jackson, Davis, Bulger, Holt, Bruce, or Wilkins owner?

Pretty amazing they are 4-1 with how many chances they seem to have blown.

I'm voting combo. The line isnt fantastic at run blocking and although I'm sure the numbers have improved, SJax led league last season in stuffs and runs for loss. Bulger has always had problems in the red zone - particularly in goal line situations.

when you have jackson who a) runs too straight-up and b) dances behind the line, you can't expect too many rushing TD. plus unlike some teams (dallas comes to mind), the rams don't stubbornly pound jackson in there all 3 downs. usually they give him one shot and then throw. but mainly he just doesn't look like much of a short-yardage/redzone back.

So is this just a product of having to pass so much in the red zone due to an inadequate short yardage running game?

If so, this dilutes Jackson's value for at least the next few years.

I've watched the games & while everybody loves to say it's SJax dancing behind the line, the truth of the matter is, the Rams O'line just isn't getting much push down at the goal line or opening any holes.

Pace being a little dinged up & losing their Center certainly hasn't helped. They'll get it together eventually.

as a bulger and wilkins owner, i love steven jackson... he helps move the chains, but never scores.

Unfortunately the only league I own Jackson is a heavy TD-based league I really can just watch the Rams' games on nfl.com and I can't figure out why he won't punch it in inside the five. Seems like he runs fine every game. Just looking to gauge his value in case I should trade him now, or looking forward to it getting better. Given the play sequences I see though it only looks like Jackson gets one chance and it may not even come on first down.

i've heard complaints from rams fans that the play calling has been a little unimaginitive... something specifically noted (but i haven't plowed through game logs to verify) was that they are too predictable about running on first... if so, mixing it up could only help...
