Any suggestions on running with a Camelback, as I've never done it before?
The greatest runnin' invention since the, uhhhhhh...runnin' stick! I never run without...nor ride either. Never. I want a drink o' water - I got it!You're down there in the heat - absolutely NUTS not to carry your hydration.Experiment with different drinks...or mixture of drinks. Toss a handful of ice cubes in...Until you're 'comfortable' with your Camelbak - wear a shirt. I BodyGlide/BagBalm up the small of my back and the upper V side-portion of my torso. That's where my straps 'touch'. My Camelbak is nearly a decade old - a M.U.L.E. I've worn a hole through both layers of the back - all the way to the waterbag - from rubbin' against the small of my back. Thing is - I've long since simply not noticed any negatives from wearing. It's part of my body.Simply adjust the straps comfortably. Ya don't want it movin', swayin', but ya don't want it too tight either. It'll hinder your armswing and upper body motion. Simple to adjust while running, of course - so experiment. I don't use the 'waist-strap' at all. It's connected, but just kinda hanging loose. Too tight'll affect your breathing, chest expansion, etc...So really it's the shoulder straps that will affix the Camelbak where you want it.Tighten em' up bit by bit as your fluid supply depletes. A 'full' Camelbak rides differently than a 'not-full' one...(Reach behind ya every now and then and give the 'bag' a squeeze or two to check the fluid level. You don't wanna run out either!) Carry GU, carry a protein bar, carry ID, and carry your cel phone - then go!Get home...gravity empty the bag out back into whatever container it started in...wash it and the tube with hot water...hang it up to 'dry'. Every 6-8-10 times ya use it - run a cleaning brush through the tube. The mold won't kill ya, but the liquid'll seem alot more appetizin'...
