Prosopsis:

So sorry to hear. I hope all goes well for your friend.
BnB: great race!!!!!! 22 MPH on a short course is tough to muster. You lose time on the first and last mile, and are sure to have problem with traffic along the way. GREAT job!!
:hi:
I got in a Performance Forte Classic saddle today. Wasn't it you who recommended that?
That was me. Still my favorite saddle!!
Huh, that sounds familiar!
The good news is that I have found out the local biking club here is having a Tour. It is centered around centuries, but they are starting off with a time trial and also have one late in the year. Shocking, because they seem to be more centered around randoneurring and recumbents and other oddities.
Time Trial?!? Aero helmet, skin tight clothes, and hot chicks to hold your bike until you start? I am soooo there.
So, how much faster can I get in two weeks?

for the BnB, PSL
How to in Two Weeks or Less
In two weeks, equipment is your best bet, but you can do a bit of strength training, and speed work. I'd try to get lunges in every other day for the next 10 days, and try to get three interval sessions in. I had my fastest race ever last year after just 4 weeks of training, but I want at it hard for those four weeks.
Man - is there anything cooler than spending a gorgeous afternoon on the bike?
Not many things!!!! I had a great ride, on a beautiful day today as well. Life is grand!_____________________________
My minor update: I've been on the road for much of the last week, but got some good workouts in. On Thursday I ran 7 half mile intervals in Nevada (quarter mile rests). I wasn't thinking too well, as I saw the mountains, and just started running towards them. My first interval; all uphill really got my HR up, and it started to snow during my first recovery. All intervals were sub 3:28 except the 5th; which was into an approx. 15 MPH wind, with a ton of elevation. I hung on to keep it barely under 4:00, and have never needed a recovery that bad. A tough, but great run.
Saturday I thought I'd do a 2 mile run; 13 mile bike 2 mile run. It was 80 degrees out (MUCH warmer than I've been training) but I felt great at the start. My times were:
1st mile: 6:43
2nd mile: 6:45
.2 miles: 6:38
T1 1:10 = really slow, as I needed to get my HR down!!
13.2 mile bike: Really gusty wind made it a bear. I only averaged 20.9; and was shooting for 21.6. HR stayed very low (under 172), but I just didn't have it in my legs. I'm guessing that I went out too hard on the first run as well.
T2: :55 not bad, but again, I rested a bit to catch my breath
1st mile: 7:10
.4 miles: 7:28 I cut the run off short, as my HR hit 185 during the first mile (temp probably 82'ish), and decided that it wasn't the day to kill myself. A bit disappointed to have not completed the full workout, but fairly happy with the results considering the conditions.
Today I had a pleasant 24 mile bike ride with a friend. Really windy again, but we didn't care as it was beautiful out!
