Lots happening on the SteelCurtain front:
1.
I got into BOSTON!!!! I qualified by beating my BQ time by 3:56 when I ran 3:21:04 in NYC. The cut off this year was needing to beat your BQ by 3:23 (compared to 2:09 last year, 2:28 in 2016, 1:02 in 2015 and 1:38 in 2014). I am thrilled for this opportunity and am eternally grateful to
@gruecd and
@tri-man 47 for helping me figure out this marathon thing about 7 years ago on this site. Also, special thanks to
@Ned for snapping me out of my doldrums after running a 3:52 spring marathon in 2016 by sending me a text telling me to "HTFU and get my a$S qualified for Boston." I couldn't have done it without everyone's support and camaraderie on this board. THANK YOU!
2. Chicago Marathon is just 10 days away. I finished my final hard run this morning with 12 miles of which 10 were at MP (7:27). Now its all shorter runs (8 miles or less) and all easy. Getting excited.
3. Chicago weather starting to look warm. Temps in mid to upper 70's. Not ideal, but what can one do? Just make the best of it. Was considering going for it and shooting for 3:16 but with the temps like predicted, I'm starting to dial that back some.
4. Looks like a possible Chicago Marathon Friday night meetup with
@tri-man 47 is a possibility. This will be my second
ifriend meet up. (Ran Philadelphia Marathon with Ned in 2012 when we both PRed.)
