"Sticky Teenage Twin" - Snow Patrol - This song is really good. I can't remember ever listening to it before, it's a bonus track from Songs For Polar Bears and has a shoegazey feel and sounds unlike anything on their two most recent/popular albums (aside from Lightbody's distinctive voice).
"Things We Said Today" - The Beatles - Another good song, very underrated (IMO) Beatles song. It's from A Hard Day's Night and is definitely one of the best songs from their earlier albums.
"Romantic Rights" - Death From Above 1979 - Probably the best song on DFA1979's awesome, and sadly only album, You're a Woman, I'm a Machine. One of the most accessible "loud" albums, I've heard. These guys need to reunite ASAP.
"From Blown Speakers" (Live) - The New Pornographers - This is a great song as well, but this version from their live album doesn't match the studio version. Has anyone seen these guys live? Their whole live album is a bit below expectations for me, which is surprising, with vets like Newman, Bejar and Neko Case, you'd think they'd be great live.
"Rock Rock Till You Drop" - Def Leppard - Great song. I haven't been into the mood to listen to much 80s pop/rock music lately, Def Leppard included (maybe because their new album features Tim ####### McGraw) but this song still sounds really good, maybe I could handle some more pre-1987 Leppard.
"Everytime I Look For You" - Blink 182 - I really think Blink-182 stands above all the pop-punk that has come in their wake (insert Blink 182 is only following in Green Day's wake comment here) and will one day be looked back on as a strong band who shaped a lot of the mainstream rock landscape for the early 00's. That said, this song, which I mainly recognize as being the song at the start of American Pie 2, isn't one of their best and sounds too much like a retread from Enema of the State.
"D.A.N.C.E." - Justice - Really good song, I like the remixes of this better (I listened to the radio mix), I wore myself out on this a bit last year to the point that the vocals started to really grate on me. Listening to it now after some time off, it sounds good and fresh again, definitely one of the better singles of 2007.
"Destroy Everything You Touch" - Ladytron - This song is just awesome electropop. I don't think this band ever has (or ever will) release anything else even close to this good.
"The Purgatory Line" - Drive-By Truckers - One of the Shonna Tucker lead songs on Brighter Than Creations Dark, it's a good enough song but in general, when it comes to the DBT's, give me a guy singing, it doesn't quite match up for me. I think I really miss Jason Isbell in the truckers, and I definitely like his solo album better than the DBT's latest.
"Wicked Garden" - Stone Temple Pilots - I don't like this song. You'd think by only having the Stone Temple Pilots greatest hits album (this band was made for a singles collection) I could avoid having to endure the 5th best song from Core, apparently not.
