Its a shame he didn't answer the what was the accident question. Did he accidentally shove her down the stairs or something?
or maybe she burnt her hand on the skillet making him eggs? and her insurance won't cover the "cosmetic" portion of the surgery so she's suing him?we can speculate all day but I agree it would help to know more about the "accident".

"Well, I want to make something clear. In my whole entire life of living, 30 years, I have never put my hand on one woman, physically or in an angry manner," says the guy who once ran into a woman with his car. Sure, Randy. We all believe you. :lmao:

Please note that I am not jumping to the conclusion of him automatically being guilty, but given his past, it is not difficult for some of us to think that there might be some merit to this story.
Technically, that was his front bumper, so he's right.
I didn't say he wasn't right. I was just saying that if a man once ran into a woman with his car, there is a pretty good chance that he would strike one with his hand, if angry or provoked.
He didn't "run into her"...she stood in front of his car and wouldn't move and he was going like 1 mile an hour. She wasn't hurt. Have you never seen a meter maid that acted like a #####? I have. I don't hold that incident against Moss. I believe Moss on this claim. He isn't the type to beat a woman. And if she was trying to extort money to keep the issue out of the news that shoots her credibility.
Because he was trying to go down either a one way street the wrong way or a closed street and she was trying to do her job. Regardless of how fast he was going, when a person is in front of your car, you stop. Duh.He isn't the type to beat a woman? How do you know? Anyone can smack a woman in an anger moment. There was obviously an accident/incident that he had a part in that she got hurt from. She could've hurt her hand hitting him after he called her a bunch names, who knows. But how you can say he isn't the type is beyond me.

Dude has half a dozen kids from his youth whose mother's don't get a dime from him and he won't even acknowledge. Just because he has one incident free (until now) season in NE doesn't turn him into a good guy. He's still a POS "straight cash homie" dirt bag.

He's probably under direct orders from his lawyer to not to do so. Which is pretty standard. The fewer details he lets out, the less problems he may have in court. I would imagine that his lawyer is also trying to get a gag order put on the woman as well.

If there are phone records that this woman or someone she knows called Moss to extort money from him, I'd expect this thing to go away pretty quickly.

Nothing really all that new here, but . . .

Patriots Moss denies wrongdoing amid battery allegationsBoston.com Staff / January 16, 2008 In the wake of a report that he had a temporary restraining order filed against him in Florida, Patriots wide receiver Randy Moss today denied any wrongdoing, calling the allegations "false" and accusing his accuser of trying to get money out of him and "distract the team".more stories like thisAccording to Orlando, Fla. radio station 580 WDBO-AM, the affidavit, filed in Broward County, accuses Moss of committing battery and causing serious injury to Rachelle Washington, the accuser, then refusing to allow her to seek medical attention. According to WBDO, it states that he cannot come within 500 feet of Washington. The broadcast and Internet report states that no criminal charges have been filed, and that a hearing in the case is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 28.Moss responded extensively at Gillette Stadium today. His comments:"First of all, you all probably heard about these allegations. All I want to say is that they are false allegations," Moss told a large gathering of reporters."It's something I've been battling for the last couple days, threats of going public if I didn't pay X amount of dollars. Before people rush quick to judgment, I think you need to find out the facts about really what is really going on. This young lady, by no means, is hurt. I didn't hurt her."I think that, what I heard, I really don't know the whole story, of what is being said. All I know is supposedly I -- battery -- whatever it may be, that I physically hurt a woman. Well, I want to make something clear. In my whole entire life of living, 30 years, I have never put my hand on one woman, physically or in an angry manner. This battery they're talking about, I guess from a legal standpoint, there has to be something said. Like I said, I don't really know all the facts. I don't know what's going on as far as everything that has been alleged."All I know is that it's a friend of mine, a young lady, it was an accident where she hurt herself, to where they called me, called my attorneys, trying to get X amount of dollars out of me, and if 'we don't get X amount of dollars' they were going to go to the press before this game."Basically what I'm saying, I'm actually going to hold off for questions. I just really wanted to get out there to the people that I am aware of what is going on. I don't really want people to rush quick to judgment [without] knowing the facts. My teammates don't have anything to do with this. They don't know anything. I think it was just brought to their attention. If you could all just leave them out of it, because they don't know anything that's going on. I don't really know the whole situation of what's going on, just bits and pieces. It definitely was not my intentions of doing anything like this, with this battery with the woman. That's really not my makeup, that's not me, I've never been in that situation where I've had to put my hands on any woman, any lady."Like I said, man, before you rush quick to judgment, find out all the facts before you start criticizing me or judging me. That's all I have to say. Thanks."more stories like thisAfter giving an initial statement today and saying he would not be answering questions from reporters, Moss changed his mind and ultimately took questions. Some of the Q&A:On his thoughts regarding this issue:"It's unfair to athletes if a person makes a false claim. You know, there is nothing we can do. The only thing we can do is either pay up or sit back and listen to what's been said or what's being written. I can honestly say I am a … I don't know what the word is to use … that's what position I'm in. For someone to make a false claim about me, I'm kind of furious. It kind of hurts me deep inside for someone to do something like that, because I've always said time and time again that I am going to stand up for what's right. If I'm right, I'm right. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. And that's where you have your attorneys, your friends, so when you're wrong someone can tell you you're wrong. You know what I mean? My situation is where I felt that I did nothing wrong. It was an accident. Whatever happened, it was an accident. I wish I could sit here and yell you all what happened. But there is a lawsuit or whatever is been coming against me, I can't really explain or tell you all what is going on. All I want to say is that I'm going to continue to play football. I think that last Friday, this man wanted to come out with it, to try to distract the team and distract me. You know what I'm saying? There was much more said, a lot of verbal, a lot of cuss words, a lot of things that I should be doing – ‘you better do this or else, you better do this or else' – well, I thought it was bad because now you're threatening me. So I brought it to Coach and said ‘Look Coach, I'm being threatened to do something that I have no idea of what I need to be doing.' I was advised to just focus on playing football and then I'll handle this once the season is over. Whenever the season is over, I plan on sitting down and really getting to the bottom of this. Right now, I have a job to do."One report indicated you hurt her hand ..."I'm not really getting into that. I just told you guys, I mean, I don't want to get in trouble for anything I might say that I'm not supposed to say when it comes to an attorney and a client. There is a lot of things I want to sit here and tell you guys to prove my innocence. But for the fact there is an investigation going on ..."Is she making up this story?"You do your homework. Like I told you, there are a lot of things I want to sit here and tell everyone sitting here flashing, with all these microphones. I'm not trying to be funny about the situation, because this is a serious matter. What I'm saying is that it's unfair to us as athletes that when a situation like this occurs, it's up to you guys to make an assumption. Is this guy or this girl telling the truth? Or are they lying?"

Given that the order looks to show that it is the real Randy Moss, I'll open this back up . . . but my sources at the Pats still haven't confirmed it yet.
I (and many here) appreciate that you have sources with the Patriots; it's been very helpful throughout the season. But why should they have any bearing on whether a topic can be discussed? If there's a story out there, and it's actually being reported somewhere, isn't that enough?I appreciate that it was opened up again, but why would it be closed in the first place? Isn't this the right place to comment on reported football-related stories? Just wondering.
Because there are often times when links from obscure places turn out to be rumors and not fact. We generally as a rule don't want to be tied to spreading misinformation and rumors. (For those that remember the Clinton Portis debacle from a few years ago.)At the time, the Moss story was up and then taken down and then reappeared . . . and no major news agency had been reporting it. I didn't close the first thread, but since someone else did that was my cue to close this one.But when it became more evident that this story had legs I opened it back up . . . in the span of only a few minutes. We would rather have accurate info than wild speculation swirling around.
:sadbanana: Speculation runs rampant around here and threads aren't closed. I know you are a big Pats fan, but they are big boys, I'm sure they don't need special moderation.
Actually, threads are closed or moved to the purged file where they don't show up when it has the potential to be explosive. We've done this while we run something down to try and verify. The size of the board has a lot do with it. When you guys break something, it takes off from here fast. But I hear what you're saying. Passions are high on both sides of this one.J

Wow.I will say this. Sounds to me like NE really has been good for Moss. I don't think many would have expected this type of maturity out of him 2-3 years ago in how he is responding to this.
Interesting. My first reaction to that was not awe of his "maturity", it was more along the lines of, "Wow, he didn't flatly deny the charges even when sqarely invited to."

A temporary restraining order has been issued against Patriots [team stats]’ receiver Randy Moss, after a Florida woman alleged he beat her and then refused to allow her to seek medical attention on Jan. 6, according to court documents.

Rachelle Washington, 35, of Fort Lauderdale, filed a petition for a restraining order in Broward County on Monday. A temporary injunction was issued Monday against Moss by the Broward County court, ordering him to stay at least 500 feet away from her, her home and her car.

At Gillette Stadium this morning, Moss addressed the allegation, saying he’s “never laid a hand on a woman in 30 years.”

He asked fans not to rush to judge him.

A hearing has been scheduled for Jan. 28 at the Fort Lauderdale courthouse on the restraining order and the woman’s allegations.

In the court papers, Washington says the alleged incident occurred on Jan. 6 at her home. Washington alleges Moss committed “a battery upon (Washington) causing serious injury. (Moss) refused to allow (Washington) to seek medical treatment.”

Washington claims the two have been in an “intimate relationship since 1997.” She also claims in the papers that Moss has guns and has “a drug or alcohol problem.”

On Jan. 6, the Patriots were in the midst of their bye week, preceding their first playoff game on Jan. 12 against the Jacksonville Jaguars

The Smoking Gun website has the petition up. It seems that you don't have to allege much to get a restraining order in Florida.
Pretty amazing, eh counselor? You need clear and convincing evidence in California as a restraining order is a quasi-criminal matter that can go onto your criminal record if violated. That was an eye-opener to me when I did my first one for a client a few years back.

oh man ,, Moss is toast for this next game. SD should just focus on Welker.

Its all startin' to fall apart for the perfect team.... :goodposting:

Former Minnesota Viking Randy Moss is in trouble again, and the allegation is that he struck a woman.

According to the Boston Herald newspaper and WDBO Radio (AM580) in Orlando, the New England Patriots star wide receiver is the target of a temporary injunction out of Broward County for protection.

The Herald reports that the court papers say that Moss committed "battery upon [the woman] causing serious injury. [Moss] refused to allow [her] to seek medical treatment."

Speaking to reporters today in Boston, Moss denied any wrongdoing. "I didn't hit no woman," he said. "I've never hit a woman."

Moss' attorney, Joe Friedberg, defended Moss, saying that the woman's injury was no more than one finger and that she was seeking no less than half a million dollars.

Moss would not be specific about what he and the woman were doing at the time that led to her injury.

Friedberg, while on KFAN Radio (AM 1130) Wednesday afternoon, also declined to be specific, but he said Moss and the woman were engaged in "consensual horseplay" at the time.

The affidavit also says that Moss cannot come within 500 feet of the victim and cannot use or possess firearms, the Herald and WDBO report. The Herald reported that the court papers say the alleged incident occurred Jan. 6 at the Fort Lauderdale home of a 35-year-old woman. The Herald added that the woman claims in the papers that she and Moss have been in an "intimate relationship since 1997."

The newspaper also said the woman claimed in her filing that Moss has guns and "a drug or alcohol problem."

On Jan. 6, the Patriots were starting a bye week before their first playoff game against Jacksonville.

A hearing in this latest case is scheduled on Jan. 28, the radio station said. No charges have been filed. The incident comes just days before the undefeated Patriots play the San Diego Chargers in the AFC championship game. The winner goes to the Super Bowl.

In Boston, Moss told reporters in the locker room at Gillette Stadium today that he did not hurt the woman, whom he described as a friend for 11 years who in "an accident ... she hurt herself."

Then, Moss, said to the crush of reporters, "they called my attorneys trying to get X amount of dollars out of me, and if we don't give X amount of dollars to her they're going to go to the press before the game."

He said the woman is seeking a six-figure amount.

Moss added: "I don't know the whole story of what's being said... this lady by no means is hurt. I want to make very clear in my whole entire life of living, 30 years, I've never put a hand on one woman physically in an angry manner."

Moss has had several run-ins with the law starting in high school. He served time for kicking a high school classmate. He was booted from Florida State University for using marijuana and arrested for bumping a Minneapolis traffic control agent with his car. He's also been fined many times for misdeeds on the football field.

The (supposed) fact that she offered to let him pay her in order to keep quiet about this tells me all I need to know about this woman. Has rap music not taught us anything about scandalous women?

And yes, my homer glasses were definitely on when I came to this conclusion.

"Well, I want to make something clear. In my whole entire life of living, 30 years, I have never put my hand on one woman, physically or in an angry manner," says the guy who once ran into a woman with his car. Sure, Randy. We all believe you. :goodposting:

She could've hurt her hand hitting him after he called her a bunch names, who knows. But how you can say he isn't the type is beyond me.

He is a laid back and easy going guy. I don't know it with a hundred percent certainty, but I the burden of proof is on her to prove that he did.

Dude has half a dozen kids from his youth whose mother's don't get a dime from him and he won't even acknowledge. Just because he has one incident free (until now) season in NE doesn't turn him into a good guy. He's still a POS "straight cash homie" dirt bag.
I don't know how you know details about his family life but my experience is that these things are usually more complicated than you make out. If it is a fact that he is the father then the law makes sure the kids get plenty of dimes, so I am skeptical about what you are claiming.Bottom line is that Moss has never done anything that bad but he has been unfairly labelled a problem because a few over the hill, former football players who were never good enough to carry Moss's jock didn't like how he played and claim he 'took plays off'.

Friedberg, while on KFAN Radio (AM 1130) Wednesday afternoon, also declined to be specific, but he said Moss and the woman were engaged in "consensual horseplay" at the time.

I listened to the entire interview with Friedberg, and he gave some interesting information despite feigning that he couldn't get too specific. According to Friedberg:1. The accident did not happen out of anger, it was during horseplay.

2. The injury did not result from Moss hitting/pushing.

3. Moss did not stop her from seeking medical attention. He in fact left that residence 45 minutes after the accident.

4. The woman wanted Moss to come over again the following night, and he refused [implying she felt scorned].

5. The woman never called the police, the night of the accident or otherwise.

6. The woman went to see an attorney before seeking medical help of any kind for her alleged injury.

7. The woman saw a doctor at the advice of the attorney.

8. X-rays were taken and there was no noticeable damage. There was no cut, she did have a splint according to her attorney however.

9. The opposing attorney demanded no less than $500,000 or he would leak this story before a playoff game. Friedberg very candidly said there is a fine line between lawyering and extortion. He personally views this as an extortion case.

10. This is a purely civil matter. There is no expectation that anything that occcured will result in criminal charges of any kind.

If I had to guess, this is a mistress of Randy Moss who is trying to squeeze money out of him. The timeline is too strange. "Incident" happens on the 5th. Randy gets threatening phone call demanding money on the 8th. Restraining order filed on the 14th? No criminal charges filed?
My thoughts exactly. It's just too weird. Pro football player strikes woman, she calls police, we have an issue. She seeks the advice of an attorney first, and is willing to accept cash to the tune of $500k and it's all better? Very, very strange.

I absolutely agree, with a Patriotic view. *****************Some have implied Moss is some sort of career criminal in the past. There was the incident with the meter maid. Stupid yes, but hardly the actions of a psychopath. I will say that he's been less than a stellar teamate in the past, but to pretend that there's a connection between that and domestic violence is just absurd. This event brings up many of the comments by players after the Sean Taylor tragedy. These players are targets. Does it excuse his affair? Absolutely not. But again, there's a huge leap from adultery to violence. I'm not ready to cannonize Moss for his turnaround as a teamate, but this would be a huge leap, as a behavioral trait.

He lost his scholarship to ND because of battery. The situation of which I do not know. He lost his scholarship to Florida State for marijuana. I'm not saying he's squaky clean, but a fight at 18 and smoking pot at 19 are not even close to domestic violence. As a man, he's been a bad tamate, some of which is blown way out of proportion. Regardless, I see nothing in his past that makes this likely.

IIRC it was because he was busted for possession of mary jane while at Fla St. If that is accurate, what does it have to do with anything relating to this or the other incident (meter maid)?Based on the "details" in the petition and the sequence of events I would be very surprised if this woman's story turns out to be based in reality.

The fact that he has had multiple run ins with the law.And the mary jane in the car with the meter maid might have some connection wouldn't you think?Again, her story may not be true. But his past and his admitting that something did happen make his side just as fishy as hers.

True, but Post #70 clears some of that up, doesn't it? Assuming that if your willing to draw conclusions based on what we've heard before Post #70, you're willing to draw conclusions based on Post #70, that is....

He has had a few minor legal issues but none involve abuse of a partner, which is not something that comes out of the blue. Most domestic abuse is instigated by " repeat customers" and the first incident is more often than not preceded by well-defined and recognized conduct (possessiveness, threats, etc.) of which there is no evidence here. Implying a causal relationship b/t the dope and the meter maid incident is dubious at best. Basically, his prior conduct does nothing to implicate misconduct in this incident. That you equate these legal apples and oranges is exactly why (if true) this woman threatened to go to the press with this incident: people don't know or don't care to make informed distinctions between different types of (mis)conduct.

No relationship between dope and meter maid incident? He lost a scholarship because of dope.

Was there any dope found in the car at the meter maid incident? Or am I confusing that with something/someone else. But I thought there was some in the car and he got a misdemeanor posession charge out of that incident as well.

He admitted last year or so that he has smoked dope while in the NFL.

I think there is a pretty strong relationship between pot and his actions in the past.

His prior conduct make me less likely to just believe him right off the bat as some have said.

Where am I equating this alleged action and what he has done before? :goodposting:

His past makes believing him harder. Its that simple.

The (supposed) fact that she offered to let him pay her in order to keep quiet about this tells me all I need to know about this woman. Has rap music not taught us anything about scandalous women?

And yes, my homer glasses were definitely on when I came to this conclusion.
I absolutely agree, with a Patriotic view. *****************

Some have implied Moss is some sort of career criminal in the past. There was the incident with the meter maid. Stupid yes, but hardly the actions of a psychopath. I will say that he's been less than a stellar teamate in the past, but to pretend that there's a connection between that and domestic violence is just absurd.
Randy's shady past didn't start with the meter maid, that was just the most famous. You ever wonder how a freak like Moss ended up playing college ball at Marshall?
He lost his scholarship to ND because of battery. The situation of which I do not know. He lost his scholarship to Florida State for marijuana. I'm not saying he's squaky clean, but a fight at 18 and smoking pot at 19 are not even close to domestic violence. As a man, he's been a bad tamate, some of which is blown way out of proportion. Regardless, I see nothing in his past that makes this likely.
Likely

? I agree.Possible? Umm, sorry, but this seems very possible. He got kicked out of Florida State, for pete's sake, you know how hard that is? randy has no history of hitting women, but he has a history.

Frankly, whenever I hear about women coming after pro athletes, I wonder about the gold-digger aspect. I have seen it first-hand, these guys are targets, and there are women out there that prey on them. There's also a bunch of dirtbags out there playing professional sports.

But no one has any info, and it's absurd that people are deciding what went down, based on how well Randy answered questions. I have no idea what happened.

By the way, everyone, Moss is calling this an "accident." You know, as in you accidentally bumped your face into my closed fist. Pathetic.

You have chosen to ignore all posts from: Dman30.· View this post· Un-ignore Dman30 :lmao:
No kidding. I'mnot even remotely a Moss fan, but this guy is annoying. "The team I want to win has no chance, so let me cling rabidly to this irrelevant-to-football thing I found."

The timing of this is very suspicious.
Watch the video Dman posted, he says she threatened him to pay her money, and if he didn't she would go to the media and file charges against him "before a certain game" which he was indicating was the AFC Championship. Pretty messed up on her part.

Moss' lawyer has now issued as statement:

Friedberg: Moss accuser sought $500,000

January 17th, 2008 – 8:04 AM by Kevin Seifert

Local defense attorney Joe Friedberg, who remains part of New England WR Randy Moss’ legal team, is telling multiple media outlets that the woman who sought a restraining order against Moss asked him for $500,000 last week to keep the story quiet. Moss refused, and the story surfaced on a Florida radio station Wednesday.

Friedberg represented Moss in 2002 following the now-infamous TrafficCopGate incident in downtown Minneapolis. Friedberg is not licensed to practice in Florida, where the incident happened, but he told KFAN Radio (1130-AM) that he is helping Moss secure local counsel in Florida.

Moss is being accused of injuring the woman, whom he has been friends with for 11 years, and denying her medical aid. Friedberg, however, called the accident a result of “consensual horseplay” between Moss and the victim.
Lawyer was also on the radio and apparently she injured her finger. Moss was over there watching a playoff game or something, they were horsing around, apparently she injured her finger, he helped her put ice on it, etc.If he's guilty of anything it's maybe cheating on his longtime girlfriend with a ladyfriend of clearly ill repute.

If he is willing to pay 6 figures, he knows was he did what wrong, regardless of what his lawyer will say. This will be swept under the rug within a week, unless he did something terribly wrong...

He was'nt willing to pay six figures because he thinks he is innocent. She threatened to get this in the media if he did'nt pay. He did'nt. Voila: The story is in the media.

Statement regarding Moss

Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff January 17, 2008 03:17 PM

The attorney representing Rachelle Washington, who filed a temporary restraining order against Randy Moss, released a statement today:

NBCSports.com has the text of the statement from David McGill, which reads:

"For the past 11 years, Ms. Washington has cared deeply for Mr. Moss and has been there for him throughout all of his trials and tribulations. However, she refuses to be further disrespected by him. It has never been her intention to hurt Mr. Moss in any way. However, she has suffered mental and physical harm as a result of his actions. She simply wants him to take responsibility for what he has done. As a battery victim, she has shown great strength throughout this entire ordeal.

"Ms. Washington has been unfairly characterized as someone simply seeking financial gain. In fact, it was Mr. Moss' representatives who first contacted our office to offer a "six figure" settlement with hopes of not having this incident become public record.

"We have heard Mr. Moss' statement regarding the incident. He has acknowledged that he was at Ms. Washington's Florida residence and that he was "guilty" of an "accident" which occurred. However, Mr. Moss fails to mention how his reckless and degrading conduct rendered Ms. Washington unable to drive her vehicle to seek medical attention. As the evidence will show, there is serious doubt that Mr. Moss is capable of recalling with clarity the exact details of what transpired that evening. As Mr. Moss has previously stated, "Do your homework and check his resume.

"We look forward to presenting all of the evidence at the court hearing on January 28, 2008."
