Randy Moss Misses Practice Friday (1 Viewer)

From RotoWorld:

Randy Moss (back) was a late added to the Patriots' injury report Friday. He didn't practice and is listed as questionable.

Moss may have simply been given a day off after practicing in full on both Wednesday and Thursday, but there's no way to tell for sure. At least we'll know Moss' status early on Sunday because the Pats game is at 1PM ET. If he can't play, New England will be in trouble against a much improved Atlanta team.

I have nothing insightful to add, except .. this is why I come here/wish I had known about this place in prior years.

sorry!! but i think i was first.... ;-) (after rotoworld broke the news on twitter)

hopefully this is just giving the top WR a little rest...

Has Belicheat put Matt Ryan, and Turner on the Pats injury list yet?
I agree. I just think it's a sad fake by the Patriots, not that they're known for this sort of thing. :lmao:
That doesn't appear to be the case. This is from RotoWorld:Due to concern over their potentially depleted receiver corps, the Patriots reportedly tried several free agents on Friday, including former Seahawk Courtney Taylor.Chris Davis (Titans), Larry Beavers (Panthers), Anthony Armstrong (Dolphins), and Will Franklin (Raiders) were also there. Randy Moss and Wes Welker are both questionable for Week 3. If the Pats sign a receiver on Saturday, it'll be a bad sign for their top wideouts' chances of playing Sunday.Source: National Football PostRelated: Patriots

It's logical...Brady and the WR corp set all kinds of records in 2007 but lose the big one.

In 2008 Brady is gone for the season

In 2009 Moss and Welker end up in and out of the line up leaving owners once again to say "What if..."

Next year everyone stays away from these guys or they fall far and for whatever reason its lights out again like 2007.

That is a motley crew there. Outside of Courtney Taylor, I don't even recognize these guys. Seems like there should be some better talent on the street than that at WR? I guess Chad Jackson really is that terrible, I think he's looking for a job. Wouldn't a guy like that know a little something about the system and plays at least?

Welker, Moss sit out team drillsComment Email Print Share By Mike Reiss

Patriots receiver Wes Welker is officially questionable for Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons, while in a surprise, receiver Randy Moss is also questionable with a back injury.

Moss was added to the Patriots' injury report Friday.

While both Welker and Moss were present for the start of practice Friday -- for stretching and kickoff return drills -- neither took part in the team-drill portion of practice.

Veteran cornerback Shawn Springs (knee) and rookie cornerback Darius Butler (thigh) were also added to the team's injury report on Friday. Both are questionable and had limited participation in team drills.

Also, Patriots coach Bill Belichick said that newly acquired linebacker Prescott Burgess could suit up for the game despite being part of just three Patriots practices.

"Prescott has been in a pretty sophisticated system," Belichick said. "I'm not saying we're the Ravens, but they do a lot of different things. He's working hard with [linebackers coach] Matt [Patricia] and [special teams coach] Scott O'Brien to pick things up. He's doing that."

As expected, the Patriots ruled linebacker Jerod Mayo (right MCL) out for the game.

Tight end Chris Baker (ankle), center Dan Connolly (back), receiver Julian Edelman (ankle), safety Brandon Meriweather (ankle), safety Matthew Slater (elbow) and cornerback Terrence Wheatley (knee) were all listed as questionable, while quarterback Tom Brady (right shoulder) was listed as probable.

For the Falcons, running back Jerious Norwood (head) is the primary concern. He is questionable and has not practiced all week.

The bolded part of this article struck me for some reason. It makes me think this is just a rest day and the Pats are playing coy with the injury report. Obviously, we can't know for sure until pre-game warm-ups, but I'm less concerned than I was a few hours ago.

I have my doubts that he would be on the field stretching with the team rather than getting treatment with the trainers if he had a real back problem. I very well could be reading too much into this, but after reading the article, my gut is telling me this isn't really a big deal.

I'd hope they'd activate Terrence Nunn off the PS before considering any of these JAGs .... maybe they can trade for Greg Lewis again?

Let the balancing of the real injuries and the players listed as questionable to keep it a 50/50 split begin!
The Pats have 10 players listed as questionable this week.
They are full of crap.....I am not paying attention this nonsense anymore...I will just wait till Sunday...get the reports from the NFL network or ESPN on who is in and who is out and make my adjustments then.I don't have time anymore to sit around all week and worry about BS injury reports....it is a farce at this point and teams are making a mockery of them.

Meh. If you're preparing to play the Pats, you assume Moss and Welker are going to play. It's not like the opposing team is struggling with "omg, do we have to game plan for welker or edelman? and moss or (insert any other dude not named moss)? so either their resting or are really questionable; either way it doesnt change gameplanning.

arent all their key players questionable during the year?

and like SVBD said there really is no reason to play games, not like Atlanta will prepare any differently

 It's not as if organizations are trying to "cheat" the system, just using it to their advantage. The NFL will address it when it becomes an issue.

anything new on this
The Patriots haven't signed a WR today. That would seem to bode well that some combination of two of their injured WRs (Moss, Welker and Edelman) should be able to play. Pure guess on my part but I think Moss plays and Welker is the one who's closer to being inactive.
